    Corrections:
    - The 108 USD price for the SC64 from Phenom Mod is for the shell-less option, sorry! The actual price including the shell is 124 USD.
    - Some missing menu functions that I have mentioned have been added as of this upload!
    - The menu is 480i, not 480p.
    - The sound effect quirks in the 64DD version of Mario 64 noted here are also present in the PAL version!

fun fact: if you plugged in the unreleased 64gb cable into your n64 while playing mario artist paint studio, you gain the option to not only use the game boy printer, but also an unreleased color printer as well, meaning that if nintendo ever released the cable, the mariolphin could have been preserved the way god intended

For the stickers, there are 7 stickers per “page”. With the two Pokémon sections having 11 pages each, that does add up to over 151, meaning they very well may have provided a sticker for every Gen 1 Pokémon!

Would have loved to have seen that other Ocarina of time homebrew on the 64dd. It's the original master quest dungeons from the gigaleak

  • @ZethN64
    @ZethN64 Před měsícem

Great vid on the SummerCart64! Was neat to hear about all its 64DD features and playability. Though a couple corrections.
    - The Master Quest expansion, is more a release of the original revision of Master Quest before it became the release on the gamecube which were found in the gigaleak. There are differences in puzzle layouts in a good portion of the dungeons.
    - Unfortunately, what was done for OOT with both the dawn dusk expansion and the Master Quest expansion cannot be replicated for Mario Party. In OoT, we knew what files the game replaces due to a 64DD file built into the game to exchange data with the disk. OoT upon boot only checks if the 64DD is connected with a correct ID disk, then proceeds to the title screen and file select. Only after the file select screen does it exchange data for certain files, Dungeons, minimaps, treasure map icons, text and staff credits. OoT is the only game with these data hooks as other DD games do not use this process. Mario Party confirms if the 64DD is hooked up then proceeds to gives priority to the disk to run whatever it likes and replace anything it needs while still being able to call assets from the cartridge. This comes as a problem as with no outline on how it would work, there's really no way to create a custom expansion disk.

  • @mr.selfimprovement3241

As you mentioned yourself, the reality is that there are already 64DD conversions for the (newer) Everdrive X7. Which isn't the selling point most would think it is anyway, because the library of 64DD games is perhaps even more limited than that of the SuperGrafx or Virtuaboy.
Also, what Luigiblood said is mostly irrelevant if you just want to play Official 64DD games (which is 99.9% of people). The effort involved in converting 64DD games to .n64 is only really a relevant issue for 64DD home-brew - as the majority of known officially licensed 64DD games have ALREADY been converted.
This includes (as of date): _Dezaemon 3D DD, F-Zero X, Kyojin no Doshin, Mario Artist Communication Kit, Mario Artist paint Stuido, Mario Artist Polygon Studio, Mario Artist Talent Studio, Nihon Pro Golf, Randnet Disk, Sim City 64, Super Mario 64 DD and Zelda DD (to name some)._
The main advantage of this Flashcart is really price more than anything else - which is almost $100 less than what a comparable Everdrive X7 typically sells for in 2024.
Making this a EXTREMELY compelling option for people who can not get a newer Everdrive because of limited availability, prohibitively high price or lack of access to them in their market.

It's a good thing someone makes an actual opensource cartridge that improves upon what the EverDrive can do.

I'm not sure if anyone has said this yet but the start is off a little, you show the X7 at $159 but then start to list upgrade over your old flashcart. Problem is it sounds like you have an older X5 at $99 as the X7 has all but the 64DD upgrade and works more or less the same.
The problems listed are a X5 things not X7.
This may give others that don't know anything of the X5 vs X7 the wrong idea.
Also, maybe one day the X7 can be updated to have 64DD as well. If it has the power to do so.
Like how the newest update for the FXPAK PRO can do Super GameBoy on its own.
P.S. Other then that part at the start, great video.

I wonder if the open source platform would allow the USB-C port to be accessible from games so that a webcam or network adaptor could be hooked up with a USB-C hub to act as the camera pack and network adaptor pack. It would depend on what chip on the cartridge is powering this setup.
