Hi Morgan, I only came across you recently when the Funky Farmer put up the video of your interview. Since then I've been listening to the podcasts the days I'm in the car to work. They are a great collection and fierce interesting. I've told a few friendsof mine who are getting hooked too. I'm from near Fealesbridge originally and a neighbour of Donie Moloney who you had on about the Nuffields and Leyland. My grandfather in Ballydesmind bought a new David Brown 780 Selectamatic in Mallow in 1970. It was on a scraper for 10 years from the mid 80s up to 96 and hadn't been driven in 15 years so she's fairly shook. I brought it up to Meath where I live now last year. I'm gathering a share of bits, wiring etc to get it right. It's a great interest.

@@morganoflahertymachineryofirel It's a white one. I heard the interview with Shane and I'll be following up with him. What struck me about the podcasts is there is a huge reservoir of knowledge about all this engineering over the past 80 years, and its great to capture even a portion of that on tape for the future. Keep up the good work!

@@morganoflahertymachineryofirel I've done very little on it over the past 6 months to be honest Morgan. I've ordered a few more bits for it, and hopefully we'll have a bit of progress over the next few months. I live in Meath and my wife's family are tillage farmers so next August I hope to swing in with the David Brown with a trailer along side their Claas Tucano harvester! If it happens I'll send you the video!

the 880 were a great tractor especially pulling a plough or a trailer , had one with almost 20,000 hrs before we traded for an 885 , which had the 12 speed gear box, but with only two gear sticks, seldom you'd use the 3rd range

That poor tractor I feel sorry for it just shows how tough they are it would probably start OK if he had used the excess fuel switch on the injector pump
