    Some key points: 👇
    Day 1 through day 10 of your cycle - FASTING SHINES. Estrogen loves fasting and low-carb!
    Moving into your ovulation window (day 11 to day 15), estrogen needs a healthy gut to be broken down. Focus on more greens, and the 3 P's (polyphenols, probiotic & prebiotic foods). Take zinc and do a lot of cardio! Stay away from bad oils, refined carbs and toxic ingredients. Clean up your diet and feed it a variety of good foods. Keep liver stressors such as alcohol and medication under control.
    When progesterone comes in the week before your period, AVOID FASTING and avoid a high keto diet. Practice slow paced living, take magnesium, maca and chaste tree supplements. Focus on slower-type workouts such as yoga and hikes!
    Testosterone (for both women and men). Women - do around 15-hour fasts. Men - 24 hour long fasts. Focus on zinc-rich foods, protein-rich foods, lots of greens, and vitamin D. Strength training is best in this period. Minimise stress and avoid toxins.

    SO much of this info is more than just fasting or losing weight...the titles should be 'how to thrive as a woman'. This info should be taught to EVERYONE no matter sex, and should be taught in schools! I was wondering why I felt so low and unmotivated when I got my IUD....duh, its synthetic progesterone! I think I've gotten used to it by now, but your interview on Diary of a CEO actually inspired me to try going without birth control again with the mentality of working on a monthly cycle (and my fiancé is on board too) especially leading up to wanting to have kids. So important to have female based information, but there's loads of helpful information for everyone here!!

    Hi Dr. Mindy. I recently ordered your book The Menopause Reset. It’s been great for me addressing my menopause symptoms, I just love it! My question for you is
 I have a 21 year old daughter who was recently tested for PCOS. Her test results were interesting in that it was determined that she does not have PCOS although she has some characteristics of it such as facial hair growth and stubborn weight gain. Her hormones came back in the normal range with the exception of her DHEA levels. Those were very high and with follow up tests she was determined not have adrenal tumors or any other disorder. Can you address what high DHEA levels can mean for young women who have otherwise normal hormonal levels? Thank you

    I’ve heard that you are more insulin resistent the week before and during your period - so that you should eat less carbs during that time, but that eating more carbs the week before your ovulation helps your body build more muscle and take care of the excessive estrogen so you don’t get estrogen dominance. Kind of confusing listening to this now
 where can I find the research on this?

I take a bit lower than the recommended dose just at the end of my largest meal. First time I had migraines in decades. I stopped it and I seem to be doing better. Might be a coincidence. Hi! You’ve mentioned that pregnant women shouldn’t fast and that breastfeeding women should only fast up to 17 hours. But I’m wondering what your protocol would be for these types of women until they can go back to more fasting options? Should they still do ketobiotic and hormone feasting switches throughout that time? If they are only breastfeeding a couple times a day does that change fasting recommendations or is it still a concern because of autophagy? Wishing I had discovered you sooner because I’m currently breastfeeding my one year old so I can’t implement long fasts like you recommend for accelerating weight loss. It would be so nice to hear more details about these two groups of women! Love your books and so grateful for your knowledge!

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  Pƙed rokem +1

      Hello,
      I appreciate your dedication to your health journey. For pregnant and breastfeeding women, prioritizing nourishment is crucial. During pregnancy, focus on nutrient-dense foods for fetal development. After pregnancy, reintroduce fasting gradually.
      Avoid fasting longer than 13 hours to prevent detox triggering toxins in breast milk. Adapt ketobiotic and hormone feasting switches to your schedule.
      Consult a healthcare professional for personalized guidance. Your commitment to health is admirable!

    Hi dr mindy, i have been diagnosed young hypertension when i was 17 years old, systolic bp was around 150-160mmhg and diastolic was about 90-110mmhg, doctor prescribed me atenolol 50mg but i refused it. After that, I have been doing low carbs and keto diet with intermittent fasting for last 1.5 years. After watching your videos,I finished 3 days water fast with mct oil and pink salt just after my cycle was ended. I did a blood test before i break my fasting. My HbA1c before practising IF and keto diet was 6.0 and now came down to 5.2. But my LDL cholesterol spiked up to 205 mg/dl, HDL cholesterol :116 mg/dl and triglycerides: 45 mg/dl. And i m also on vitamin d3+ k2 and apple cider vinegar on daily basis. My bp is now 110-125mmhg and diastolic 70-85 mmhg. You're welcome! I'm glad you're seeking information for your health. PCOS symptoms can indeed improve with a holistic approach. Intermittent fasting, reducing sugar, and targeted supplementation can positively impact hormone balance. However, individual responses vary.
      Prioritizing nutrient-dense foods, maintaining a healthy weight, and managing stress also play crucial roles. It's great that you're cautious about medications; lifestyle changes are often the first line of defense.
      Consulting a healthcare professional who understands your specific situation can provide tailored guidance. Remember, your dedication to your health journey is commendable!

      @@DrMindyPelzhey Dr Mindy, a little update and a question.
      I went to bed at 9pm/25hrs feeling good, a little fizzy but nothing bad. My numbers were 4.5 sugar and .5 ketones (mmol/L).
      I couldn’t sleep and slowly felt worse, until at 11pm/27hrs I had to get up and eat. I didn’t have time to check my numbers because it was so intense and immediate I felt I could faint.
      I am day 5 of my cycle. My longest fast before this was 24hr which was so easy for me.
      I did a gentle hill walk before bed and did a weight session that morning, maybe it was too much exercise?
      My numbers this morning are 0.5 ketones and 6.5 blood sugar which is quite high, normally I’m at 4.5 but I suppose it’s only been 9hr fasting.
      Is this normal, my head was totally in the game but my body was a no? Maybe I need to build it up slowly hour by hour and 24 to 36 is too big a jump?
      Thanks for any insights.

    Hi Dr. Mindy! I have been working through fasting and this is my first month with being intentional around eating to my cycle. I am in the middle of the second half of my cycle and have not been fasting but I've noticed more weight gain that I would have anticipated (about 5 pounds). Is this normal? If so, how can we cycle fasting this way when our primary goal is weight loss? I worry that the up and down of weight during the two separate time periods will negate the weight loss that I've worked hard for during fasting. Thank you!

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  Pƙed rokem +1

      It's common to notice weight fluctuations during different phases of your cycle. Remember, the goal is not only weight loss but also hormonal balance. If weight loss remains a priority, consider discussing a sustainable fasting strategy with a healthcare professional that aligns with your cycle. Your commitment to your health journey is impressive!

    How does cancer use estrogen/ hormones to thrive and how can fasting help to not use medications like hormone blockers?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  Pƙed rokem +1

      Cancer cells can sometimes use hormones like estrogen to promote their growth. Fasting may help by reducing overall inflammation and improving insulin sensitivity, which could potentially create an environment less favorable for cancer growth. However, it's essential to work closely with a medical professional to determine the best approach for your situation and whether fasting can be a complementary strategy alongside other treatments.

    Dr. Mindy Pelz please help me! After miscarrying twins and another baby (getting pregnant super easily and ovulating well), then having 3 surgeries in between, I finally went back to TTC in March, and haven't ovulated either of the last 2 cycles while we did IUI. We even did a trigger shot and letrozole this past time... and nothing. First, we thought I was having low progesterone problems, and I worried that an extended fast I did before the first anovulatory cycle caused the problem, but now that it's happened again and I didn't fast almost at all the past month and added in more carbs, and I still didn't ovulate. I'm just really lost as to what is happening, BUT I am at my heaviest since not fasting, eating carbs, and taking fertility drugs. I've gained 15 lbs recently and I wonder if my weight is causing it? I have a BMI of 37, and I think I was 15-20 lbs lighter when I conceived the 2 other times. I've been eating VERY clean and low carb for about 7 months now.
    If I'm overly estrogen-dominant due to my weight (I have 2 tiny polyps forming which are signs of estrogen dominance), fasting, low carb, and following FLAG will help me lose weight, but will it increase my estrogen dominance if I do long fasts? Or am I misunderstanding the relationship between estrogen and fasting? Would the FLAG cycle just balance all the hormones, or is it a bad idea to fast if you're estrogen dominant?
    If I'm just having low progesterone and adrenal fatigue, then fasting wouldn't be a good idea.... I just feel really confused which way to go with this.
    I did the fertility protocol; it caused me to gain weight which I'm wondering if my weight is the main problem.
    Help 😱 Infertility is destroying my soul and it's just so beyond devastating.

    What about when you r menopaused?
    Do you still have days of higher or lower of the hormones?
    After menopause, which is defined as 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period, the ovaries significantly reduce their production of estrogen and progesterone. As a result, the levels of these hormones in the body decrease. However, it's important to note that some estrogen continues to be produced in small amounts by other tissues, such as adipose (fat) tissue and the adrenal glands.
    In a typical 28-day menstrual cycle, estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate. Prior to menopause, estrogen levels rise during the follicular phase (the first half of the cycle), leading up to ovulation. After ovulation, during the luteal phase (the second half of the cycle), progesterone levels increase. However, after menopause, these hormone fluctuations cease, as ovulation no longer occurs.
    If you have entered menopause, the hormonal patterns associated with the menstrual cycle, including the rise and fall of estrogen and progesterone, no longer apply.
    Maybe I need to do a dutch test could you send me a link please.😊

    This is all wonderful information. I bought Fast Like a Girl, read it and I'm doing well with fasting. However, I'm desperate - how to adjust my fasting to my hormones during my cycle? I still have a cycle but it is very irregular. It can be sometimes 30 days, sometimes 40 days, sometimes even 60 + days between periods (not on birth control pill or anything else like this or any medication or conditions, age 45).
    Now, how am I going to hormone feed my progesterone a week before my period when I don't have the slightest idea what week is it the week before my period? I don't have any indications. No mood swings, cravings, energy level fluctuations, libido fluctuations, or any other signs that could tell me "This is the week before your period".
    I read your book, and it says women with an irregular period or without a period can do the 30 days cycle, but if I do that, I will most likely be not fasting and trying to "feed" my progesterone at the very wrong time. And on the other hand, I will be fasting like mad when I should be eating to support my progesterone because I have no idea it's the right time to do so....
