  • I have been a ham for over 60 years, but have not been active for the last 40 years, mostly due to my location. This is a short video about getting back on 2 meters. Hy-Gain VB-23FM, Yaesu FT-2980, Nissei 1230M

Wow! Those steps down from the apartment look a little bit exciting in winter! I love the ‘rock bouncing’ solution to hit the repeater! 💐

Fortunately, the steps down to the apartment are not usually that bad! I just wish I had thought of bouncing the signal off the rock about 40 years ago!

I am also using reflections to work a few repeaters in my area. Im surrounded by a few buildings that are higher than my balcony. So finding the perfect angle can be challenging sometims. But still its fun and i enjoy it :)
    Good work

I feel a little stupid that I didn't think about bouncing off that cliff earlier, but I didn't have any tranceivers except my 40 year old handhelds, and didn't even think about a yagi. I am having a wonderful time getting in contact with the local hams again! I also get another repeater off the same cliff.

Thank you! One of the local hams just called me on it, and had gotten a local YL on the repeater so I could get to know her! This is going to be fun!

The 2m was my best success so far, but I want to get out on the lower bands also! 73s!

Getting into the repeater was probably my most exciting event so far! It was partly accidental, but suddenly I have contact with a lot of local hams! Its wonderful! 73 from Norway!

I will be using HF a lot more as I get used to my FT 710. Ham radio appeals to people who like to solve problems. I will be more active on the other bands pretty soon, with advice I am getting over 2m from the local hams. 73 and see you on the air!

Hi Magnus! I don't really know very much, but I sure get a kick out of finding unanticipated solutions. If you haven't seen it, I made a video about my HF setup also. I am now plotting about how to sneak a longwire down into the woods. Think I will make a heaving line like I used on ships.
