That advice about how to manage your music for the old folks first is priceless.👌
Damn bro, this is about the most realest video I have seen with DJ companies. Thanks for your wisdom Terry, it is something I needed to hear as a part time guy trying to transition to the full time guy.

30+ years in the business, and you are spot on. Great video.
Well, I’m a DJ for a company in which I DJ, go to the venue, set up our equipment accordingly, and pack up when I have to leave. I would consider myself a part timer because I study on weekdays, but I’ve been doing this for like 4 to 5 years. Not much has changed, the equipment has been mostly replaced, and workers have come and gone.
This is the realest dj channel on CZcams
Good video! I can relate - been a DJ for 23 years, had 2 teams, then subcontracted and scaled back to me and an assistant. Now I work as a talent coordinator for GigRoster! We are a talent buyer and we always are looking for great DJs!
Man. You hit every aspect head on the nail. Expanding my business has been a real grind.
Sage advice. I market myself as a Retro DJ and I fill a niche market. I've been in the game long enough to remember when vinyl was the only option and my first CD was an instrumental! I have the advantage of knowing older music whilst still being able to satisfy the younger demographic. Ya gotta keep everyone at the function happy from 8 - 80, non negotiable, do that and your repeat business goes through the roof, no BS.
There are some great points here about authenticity and some of the caveats of running your own business.
Being a great mobile DJ is hard work. Really important point about playing for the old folk.
Perfect advice. True true true!
I'm just starting my own company. I appreciate hearing this brother. Word.
Brilliant and concise! Props! Continued success to you and all who watched this very informative, helpful video.
I’m a part-timer w/ B self graded level and this video just gave me some things to think about ... You know those part-time DJs working as a full-time mid-level IT professional. I work for a DJ company and trying to find my work balance. I just know that DJing full-time for the same amount of given effort will not match up with my Engineering Salary and long-term. Understanding the challenge on both sides are important. ... Yes that grind is SERIOUS!!!! Thank you for sharing. I will be taking this to my mentor and talking about this one for sure!
I love the honesty and love your drive, you're smart and committed and that trickles down to your rest of your business through your attention to detail
Preaching it 💯 % real truth!! Especially the last point. Great video full of information for every level of dj, tha k you!!!
Great info and priceless advice. Thank you for taking the time to go through ALL the details!
I hear ya CT and agreed... running 2 business is another level...
You gotta play to the majority not the few!! Always, Always, Always!! I always scan the crowd and have the room in my head in 5 mins and build a mental crate of music and stay 3 to 5 songs ahead.
