    Very informative, could you please advise me if there’s any way I can cover over the bit of rubber rash on each side of the headstock of my Gibson SG Standard in ebony? It was left hanging for just 48 hours & I thought the supports were nitro friendly but obviously not. Thank you so much.

      That happened to one of my les pauls recently. That stand went in the garbage. Terrible product design. A guitar stand that will ruin your guitar!
      Depending on the severity, you can buff it out with some Novus 2 or similar product. That’s what I did and it is almost completely normal. Otherwise you’ll have to do something like on this vid to get it looking good again.

    Great video! I have a nitro Les Paul that sat on a wall hanger. Looks like the nitro clumped up where it made contact. It looks like a small thin line of clear glue now clumped up. What would you suggest me do to “sand” or level this small thin line of nitro buildup so that it’s smooth on the touch? Thanks!

      Sand and wet sand and see what it’s like once its level. Then maybe spray that.
      It should be a criminal offense to sell guitar stands and hangers that ruin guitars! I thought I was immune. Had a stand start eating away at a beautiful 2017 les paul Standard. Caught that early. But I can still see it. It’s like having an infant car seat that eats skin lol.

    Love the video guys, good job. I've got a problem with a 60's Gibson J45 that a previous owner drilled 2 holes fitting a strap button directly into the body through the sidewall 🤢 so there's the screw holes and a nasty ring around it to deal with. Any ideas? ✌️

    • @PhoenixGuitars
      @PhoenixGuitars  Před 7 měsíci

      You’ll probably have to lightly sand the area, fill the holes with a dowel, then do some color matching in your nitro to get it as close as you can you’ll always be able to see the remnants of the holes though. Stew mac has some great color dyes and some good videos demonstrating. Thanks for stopping by and good luck!

    i have question for you... i have brand new mint Les Paul Classic that tiny bit of buffing compound dropped on headstock and ate through the clear coat...i didnt notice it there for a few days to wipe it away...anyway its only a like a cpl centimeters and its barely noticable but it bothering me cause the guitar is mint... how could this be fixed and what would it cost,,,i know most would say it isnt even worth it and prolly call me crazy it you could see what im talking about...

    • @PhoenixGuitars
      @PhoenixGuitars  Před 2 lety

      I’m not understanding the question, sorry. You have some finish wear? Buffing compound should not wear through, but if it a small enough area, you might be able to try this technique

    Acetone is used to thin nitro? Lacquer thinner would work too right? What was the reason to use acetone? I just don’t understand why you thin your lacquer if you want to use it for filling? Don’t you want it thick to fill faster? Thanks for your video

    • @PhoenixGuitars
      @PhoenixGuitars  Před 10 měsíci

      You need to gradually add thin multiple layers so it will dry and fill gradually. Otherwise you’ll have a big soft blob that will never dry. Nitro never really does completely “dry”

    Can they do this on the nitro
    Over the binding? The finish is chipping in spots only on the binding on my guitar. (And behind the tuners for whatever reason but not too concerned with that.
    And can they match the yellow like aged color of the nitro finish?

      So if I understand correctly, since you put 10 coats,you guys waited at least a couple weeks before sanding?

    • @PhoenixGuitars
      @PhoenixGuitars  Před rokem

      @@Boogieplex thats correct. Probably even longer. The more you thin it, the longer it takes. But you have to do that to build it up properly. I think he went a little too thin at first but in any case, it’s an exercise in patience!
