That 'giant banana' is called 'Plantain' in English or Pisang Tanduk (literally means Horn Banana in Malay)...unlike common Banana, to eat Plantain, we usually fried it first...it is quite impossible to eat an uncooked Plantain coz it has that strong starchy taste..

Have you tried caramelized/torched banana? The fried banana tastes similar to that but more crunch. And jackfruit on its own is really unique, i can't really describe it. It doesn't taste like durian tho, but it does have strong smell but more on the sweet side. Just like durians, you'd immediately know there are jackfruits nearby just from the smell.

Actually Malaysian not fry all kind of fruit. Only certain fruit that we use to fry. Usually we don't fry any watery fruit like Watermelon, Guava, mango etc.
Also jackfruit have two version. The one called NANGKA. N the other one called CEMPEDAK. Maybe because white people see from outside, this two fruit looks similar but the taste is way different

If u want to try cendol, i recommend u to find the one they serve with shaved ice. And try it during hot afternoon. We have many versions of topping for cendol like cendol biasa (regular one), cendol pulut (cendol with glutinous rice), corn cendol and even cendol durian.
For fried banana, we also have pisang goreng cheese. They are topped with cheese and variety of toppings like chocolate, nestum, milo and oreo.
For jack fried fruit, u can eat the seed as well. The seed became soft when fried. Yes, it is super sweet. The texture is soft but it's not like watermelon 😅
If you are on strict diet, don't come to malaysia yet coz u definitely can't resist our food . Hahahaha

For tasting Malay food, you guys need to visit Kampung Baru, the last village in the center of KL, from KLCC, just cross the Saloma link bridge to get there. For Chinese food, visit Jalan Alor or Chinatown on Petaling Street. For Indian food, visit Little India on Brickfields Road, it's across KL Sentral. You guys visited the open markets in KK, but KL has many pasar malam, open night markets that you guys can taste endless choice of street food that you guys haven't tried yet, are you reading this, hehe.

While durian is on the creamier side like a custard texture, jackfruit is has more crunch to it. The taste I would say is like a sweet nature's bubblegum + mango 🤔. I usually eat fried cempedak rather than fried jackfruit. Cempedak has the in-between texture. Softer but not too soft, but when fried, it becomes custardy. Crunchy, oily and salty on the outside, creamy qnd sweet on the inside. Since it is seasonal (usually before durian season), people in Malaysia has a craze on it to find the fried cempedak. Especially the fried cempedak madu (honey cempedak). It is so sweet akin to honey. Jackfruit if I'm not mistaken available anytime

Those that say you can't take spicy food. Try to think as a alcoholic drinker. I'm sure you started drinking at the lowest level for example beer. At first, yea you can't take alcoholic drinks but soon you'll be taking harder beverage until you reach liquor, 40-45% of alcohol. By that time, if a person offer you a shot of 75% alcohol content will you take it? I'm sure you will. It just the same for spicy food. You can't say you forever not able to take spicy food. Well unless you don't drink alcohol, you don't take spicy food. then I feel sorry for you.
