Dupree still holds the record for most rushing yards in the Sun Bowl after all these years and in that game he was out of shape and unprepared to play. That's how great his physical abilities were. He could have been an absolute all timer.
I remember when he was playing for the Breakers in the USFL and never thinking anyone could come back from a knee injury that bad back in late 80s. He had insane talent.
An amazing achievement to even play 1 down in the NFL. A shame the Buccaneers didn't follow up on their interest for 1992 - they could have done with him

This Was My Sophomore Year Of Highschool. The Rams Should Not Have Cut Marcus. He Ran Better Than Anyone Else During The Preseason. He Deserved A Roster Spot 🤷🏿♂️.
I'm from Oklahoma. I've got 2 by 3 autographed photo of him stiff arming a linebacker from Missouri. People can talk all the sh!t they want. Truth is, this kid turned pro at 19 and got injured. What he did with the rams was just a taste of what he could've been had he never had the injury.
Yeah Chuck Knox was trippin cutting him. Saying he wasn't versatile enough for the one back offense. I think that was bs. You have a running back who still runs 4.3 after a knee injury and could've gave you at least 2 to 3 1k yard seasons on the ground. Marcus was definitely one of those backs that got better and stronger throughout the season.
Pankey sure was a great offensive lineman. It's sad what happened to my Rams after the mysterious death of Rosenblum he was the first owner to sign a million dollar contract he was putting together a dynasty then the Rams plummet to the second lowest payroll in the league while at the Big A in Anaheim
At this point Marcus may have been in the best physical shape of his life…Even in these highlights you can see he was a man among boys… Top 5 college rb ever as far as overall talent goes! Fast & big much like Bo… Marcus would just make college defenses look like they were running in quicksand once he flipped the switch! Just a great story too…❤️👍🏻
Obviously wasn't the same player he was before the knee injury. But I was pulling for him with the Rams. I recorded the 1992 preseason game and he had 100 yards rushing. Knox ended up releasing him in 1992 though since he had other young RBs he favored. They upset Dallas that year with Cleveland Gary having a good game.
John Robinson cut him even though he was the most productive back that preseason... because "he couldn't block"...well Mr. Robinson...idiot...He shouldn't be blocking anyway....You put the ball in his hands and let him run.
He looks like he's moving in slow motion compared to his freshman year at OU. I know its NFL competition but...they say he ran a 4.3 for the Rams in a workout, but looking at these highlights, it seems questionable.
Dupree was nice, but his teammates sucked at blocking for him. Therefore, he would have had more rushing yards than what he amassed his rookie campaign.

This man took off 5 years and was an effective runner in the NFL. That's ridiculous. Most people miss 1 year and never recover
U said a mouthful there buddy a mouthful 💪💪💪💪💪
I remember watching him play while at Oklahoma in 82, he was unstoppable!
Same here
By the time he got to the Rams he was less than half speed...an absolute stallion among RUNNING backs
Still ran a 4.3 tho

@Deion Harris he was the absolutely the best running back to ever touch a football

And I still don’t understand why the Rams didn’t keep these uniforms.
Best looking NFL uniforms in history.
You're correct. I totally agree
They shouldn’t have change uniforms over the years because some of them were some ugly uniforms ever worn by players.

Come on now. The other back named Marcus had a far better career.
Sheer nonsense, but you are welcome to it

His running style reminds me of Herschel
They were similar in college forsure

Marcus does a nice job catching that ball from Chris Evert.

Do you still have the footage of that game
I saw him just run over a safety in a preseason game then kept going to the end zone.
John Robinson cut him even though he was the most productive back that preseason... because "he couldn't block"...well Mr. Robinson...idiot...He shouldn't be blocking anyway....You put the ball in his hands and let him run.
