What do you propose should be done? We already do pretty much all we can reasonably do. Taking measures to protect yourself is smart. People tell you these things to try and teach you to be more safe. This is because you are reasonable. You think the answer is to "educate" unreasonable monsters? You have to accept that there exist a few bad men and any precautions you might want to take to protect yourself against these bad men are your responsibility. We all make risk assessments all the time, your choosing to walk alone late at night is a small but real risk. Saying "I should be able to...." is meaningless. Get real. Men and women are different. There is no female Einstein because there is no female jack the ripper. At least its incredibly rare. Almost all extremes are men. Insanely smart people are almost all men. Insanely agressive people are almost all men. Insanely adventurous people are almost all men. Insanely industrious people are mostly all men. Insanely stupid people are almost all men. Etc. People need to realise, this is the world we live in and accept it. There are loads of things i dislike about the world we live in, but there is no point wishing they were different when they will never be different. Some men will always be dangerous. Women will always be more vulnerable. Biology.
