    Nice video
an extra tip about the port of Pireus. This port is huge with many Gates, so check your ticket about your ship's "Gate" before going there. The distance between Gates is big and if you have baggages with you it will be harsh to walk a long distance. Also there is a small bus inside the port that take you for free from Gate to Gate.

Thank you for everything you're doing on this channel. Your videos have been the most informative I've found- no one else even comes close!!! We were hoping to book your own tour in September, but it looks like you're taking a couple of months off. Our loss, but we truly appreciate all of your videos!

The ferries are a great way to get around between islands , but we had a great experience flying from athens to milos. The ferry was behind schedule , so all sense of politeness was out of the window. They were shouting lets go and hurry up at us , and the ship started moving before the last crew member got on board.

I've tried the ferry service to travel to a couple of the islands, and I've got to say, it's everybody for themselves if you are on the economy class tickets. Grab whatever seats available before they're taken!😅😅

As an experienced (+30 years) island hopper I NEVER book ferry tickets on line. Be it through company websites or through a broker like Ferryhopper. I always buy them in a local ticket office as I go along. Much easier to deal with those local people than with the company or a broker if there is a cancellation due to bad weather or a strike. But having said that I never travel in July and August.
Btw: don't travel without booking on the major routes from Piraeus in the days leading up to Easter Sunday and to Piraeus on the same routes the days after Easter Sunday.

Really nice video! Just a tiny comment, the only day when there is a certain strike is the 1st May - the other days are public holidays but this doesn't affect ferries, in fact sometimes more ferries are added around Easter. Safe travels!

Thank you for the information! I love your videos. I have a question, you didn't mention when they actually scan your ticket. You mentioned the chaos that ensues when the ship arrives, will they scan my ticket in line or when we board the ship? Thank you

If you are on time poor look at sky express airplane tickets. They are both cheaper than the slow boat to Crete and Santorini saving me 8 hours and some change. This was for summer 2023

I wanted to go from Athens to Astakos by bus, sleep over, and in the morning take a ferry to Friekes, Ithaca.
But I experienced so much lack of information regarding the bus and terrible reviews regarding the ferry, that
I ended up buying a flight ticket to Kefalonia (from there crossing over to Ithaca).
      It is cheaper.
I know that ferries vary a lot depending on the different companies and routes.

I had to laugh, there was a time when the Blue Stars were the fast boats! I remember the REALLY slow boats. That said, unless I'm in a hurry, I still prefer a slow cruise. Thanks for the app info. I've used the app for planning but wasn't aware that I can buy tix and get them on my phone. No more picking up paper tix sounds great. What affect has that had on island ticket sellers/travel agents?

After trying to plan a trip from Athens to Ithaca with a combination of bus to Astakos + ferry, I gave up and decided for a flight to Kefalonia > crossing from there to Ithaca.
It was impossible to find suficient information about the bus and the reviews about the ferry were horrible.

This year the timetables are changed, for example Zanne doesn't go like last year!, from Sifnos to Folegandros we had to buy expensive sea jet tickets via Milos- last year Zante went from Sifnos through Folegandros to Santorini. I'm afraid that next year the schedule will be even worse.you can see big savings, there are fewer and fewer cheaper ferries

    • @pvdppvdp6638
      @pvdppvdp6638 Před 16 dny

Yes, schedules do sometimes change from year to year which is perfectly normal. And there are still really cheap ferries. Of course slower (and cheap) ferries will gradually disappear. Thanks to the environmental obsession of some and tourists that are willing to pay ridiculous prices for some highspeed routes because they want to tick off boxes as fast as possible.
Btw: Zante Ferries still goes from Sifnos to Santorini through Folegandros.
