THIS PERFORMANCE MAY CONTAIN FLASHING IMAGES Architects perform Doomsday live at Radio 1 Rocks with Annie Mac and Daniel P Carter from the BBC's Maida Vale studios.
i really doubt this. you can hear that they turn down the volume of his screams. the clear parts are even louder than the rest. so its an issue of the mix. i don't see any explanation how his clear parts can be louder than his screams if its not by the sound mixing itself,... just physicaly not possible.
@@jayburriswayne5403 this riff, actually this song in particular, showed me that there is melody in metalcore..... opened up a whole new world to me. its like a brand new doomsday :)
To be fair, it's really hard mixing a vocalist who is constantly switching between cupping and not cupping the mic. When he's not cupping the mic, the vocals seem to cut through much better. I know some consider this to be a technique, but then you'll still have to face the consequences, i.e. not being able to have a good mix.
Idiot, they made sound check before the perfomance. The problem was due to their in-ear monitors, exactly, they set the voice sound too loud,so for us the voice part was too quiet
It's actually a pretty common "trick" (not that they were right to employ it) - if you want to make a band sound big and loud - you mix the vocals quiet ;)
I give mad props to Sam to be able to sing this song without crying or having to stop. I can’t even get through the song without getting a bit chocked up
Man how does he do that? I came over to see if he sang with as much heart as he does in the video and he definitely does. Hits clear high notes while screaming. One tone screaming is typical but he inserts his singing in with it so well. 👏 👏
What the hell is that mix? C'mon BBC. Should be much better...and maybe at least a sign of mastering for web consumption? Get an engineer who can mix good music and isn't just used to backing tracks and shite pop stars...
We are big fans of Architects too, and they are one one those bands witch made us who we are! And we are proud that their last show in Kyiv we played with them as support! That was a bright evening) Like! And thank you for nice content!
Adam is one of those guitarists.. who can basically do anything. The intro riff for a match made in heaven is a very simple looking piece. That he plays to perfection live. The only thing is, when Tom played it, there was this.. feeling of greatness, that truely is a rare gift
Derek Charette It has literally NOTHING TO DO with the drummer. This is like saying the songer sang too quietly because he was so low in the mix, completely idiotic. The Soundguy is to blame here.
Dear BBC it doesn't matter how many Grammys your Mixing Engineer has. If he/she doesn't work with Metal or Hardcore music in general, it will sound weird.
I think they fcked up a bit the mic's volume in the master of these videos, also in the Neck Deep ones, but it's so good to see them especially when playing this song. the only thing is that I find Sam like-a bit out of breath in this song or something, especially in clean vocals
> I find Sam like-a bit out of breath in this song or something, especially in clean vocals He's said in interviews that it takes him a few tries at singing a song live before he works out when's the best time for him to breathe. Seeing as this is the first time the song was performed live, it should only sound better from here on out.
I wish Architects comes to Montreal.. from what I can see/hear, they are probably one of the best live band that reflect the studio version. holy shit they are insane!
Holy fk dude, cheers, straight into my "amp up" playlist, 2.1million subscribers, toud wanna knpw architects were a sure thing to walk away from that kind of fanbase
On second thought, I wonder if maybe they just didn't know how to mix for this kind of music...? Some parts are clear, but it's uneven. I even hear some crackling/clipping. Odd. SICK performance though.
reallllly wishing the vocal was louder in the mix for this.
Jason Cox I thought the same bro
Pussy BBC won't let screaming vocals be heard because it's not trash poppy singing
Radio 1 are always on point. This is down to his voice bro!
i really doubt this. you can hear that they turn down the volume of his screams. the clear parts are even louder than the rest. so its an issue of the mix. i don't see any explanation how his clear parts can be louder than his screams if its not by the sound mixing itself,... just physicaly not possible.

That riff is freaking hypnotic 🎸
Cristian Ferreyra that riff got me into metalcore music

They are the entire reason that I have a 27" baritone 6 string dedicated strictly to using "Tom's tuning".

"Hey how do you think we can ruin their great performance"
"lol let's burry the vocals in the mix"
Right? Poor Sam :(
however...they have the lead guitar high enough, which is like never something you see in live mixes

LUKE SXHC He is. Look closely. When he's not cupping, his vocals cut through the mix. He mostly cups the mic when screaming.
Idiot, they made sound check before the perfomance. The problem was due to their in-ear monitors, exactly, they set the voice sound too loud,so for us the voice part was too quiet
Nice! i always wanted a instrumental version of this song!!
czcams.com/video/CIwwB3rxCBc/video.html
In my opinion, for a shitty mix they still sound pretty good. This is proof architects are amazing
Architects are amazing - they design buildings, understand the legal system, mix arts, mathematics and technology to create spaces that inspire.
@@cd0u50c9 LMAO 😂🤣
You'd hope that the BBC could set a mics level right alongside the rest of the instruments, apparently not
Right?
It's actually a pretty common "trick" (not that they were right to employ it) - if you want to make a band sound big and loud - you mix the vocals quiet ;)
Benjamin Smith your not wrong bro
They are not used to mixing real music lol
Benjamin Smith we’ll see them at Grammy’s... 🔥🔥🔥🇨🇦

Im a simple man, I see Architects, I press like

i almost read it " im a simple plan "
Sam is so fucking sick. Forever an inspiration Architects
Sam has such a unique voice.. all these guys are just amazing!!! Love these guys so much!
Words can't express the true beauty in this song writing.
The lyrics. The breakdowns. The Riffs. Fuck.
God I love you, Architects.
RIP Tom.

Phenomenal!! This guy deserves award after award for his vocal skill/talent.
nice instrumental BBC
He has a very unique scream tone similar to chester where its layered. So fucking awesome to hear something not generic.
What the hell is that mix?
C'mon BBC.
Should be much better...and maybe at least a sign of mastering for web consumption?
Get an engineer who can mix good music and isn't just used to backing tracks and shite pop stars...
If they can mix bands like issues and bring me the horizon what excuse would they have to shit on this
Alex Wickham maybe they just don’t like them? Cunts.
Guitars sounding massive
I think we should'nt forget the bass, it's what really makes this riff imo
There is Adam's baritone guitar which is an absolute unit
The Art Of Gittin' Gud Ali on the bass is just a monster
Idk how this band literally sounds better live than recorded. So damn good
His vocals are sending shivers through my bones, what an incredible voice.
The mixing doesn't give Sam the space he deserves
Insane screams. So damn talented.
I must’ve watched this video at least 20 times now and 3:27 still gives me goosebumps. I can’t wait to see them at Ally Pally in Feb.

This track is pure fire.
You can't get more proof of how incredible your band is than a video being on CZcams for 4 years with nearly 840k views, 17k likes and 0 dislikes.
Damn remember when there were shows.
7 months later, this comment is tearing the ass out of me.
Over 1 year later and about 8 hours from seeing architects live and yes those days without a gig almost killed me
Holy shit Sam never disappoints ❤️❤️
My god. His voice is really good live. I like a lot more his live singing at the begging than in the record.

YEAH ARCHITECTS ON BBC 1!
sick vocals, bad mix
Unfortunately only the vocals. The instrumental mix is pretty good tbh.
wow thats a litle bit mean man, I think hes a really good drummer
Derek Charette i agree the sound of the drum is bad but "only" the sound or mix , the drummer is doing pretty amazing job here
Derek Charette It's the same snare he always uses, it sounds good usually. The mix is shit. And so is your opinion on "good drummers."
Derek Charette
It has literally NOTHING TO DO with the drummer. This is like saying the songer sang too quietly because he was so low in the mix, completely idiotic. The Soundguy is to blame here.

Wow! Sounds and looks very epic
When it comes to comparing album sound to live sound, Sam has got to be right up there 👊🏻 So fucking consistent.

Francesco Del Giudice i noticed that too they didn't sound balanced
it's a really hard song to sing tho
Cupping the microphone doesn't help. In fact it's a terrible, counter-productive idea.

It's because Sam's cupping the Mic. That's why he sounds distorted.
