  • I love Australia, but I also understand there are some challenges that people face when they first move here. So in this video, I wanted to find out what Thai people both like and dislike about Australia.

I really understand about how they feel about having to work too hard in Australia (same for U.S. lifestyle). They get caught in the same flow of capitalist endeavors. In Asian, in general, they live day to day it seems and whatever they have they share with friends and family. Seems very low stress which is what I love about living in Thailand (when I did). I was an international student in Melbourne and Newcastle and lived there for about 3 years in total. I traveled to a few cities and experienced some discrimination (a few major ones)!!! Sad but I think it happens everywhere in the world. Currently I am in USA (almost 9 years now) where races is talked about too. I'm glad that my husband and I plan to retire in Thailand in the future. To be honest, there is no place like home but if someone happen to live overseas, just try to understand the reality and you will survive, even enjoy life where you are at more. Simply ignore those who have bad attitudes and don't take it too personally....in reality their narrow-minded doesn't do them good. People who see the world more and open to accept differences, will appreciate other cultures more, just like you, Paddy. Thank you for making this vdo.

I'm Thai and I don't understand where Paddy got this Thai's concept of Indians not being Asian. Certainly would want to know from him as well.

In most western countries especially in America, somehow Asian is more like East Asian looking face like Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese.. you know that monolid eyes asian stuff. But Indian is Indian, Arabic is Arabic, which of course Indian and Arabic are considered as Asian as well, something like that.

@@darkside5674 I can see why westerners might not see Indian as Asians because it's absolutely shocking how many people don't know what countries make up Asia and can't even tell Chinese, Japanese, Thai etc people apart 🙄 but I don't understand how one Asian country doesn't view another Asian country as Asian?.

@@A--L maybe it's been his experience depending on the Thai people he has been in contact with. I have never been to Thailand and I only have one online thai friend so my information is limited to what the internet can tell me, & I take that with a grain of salt. Westerners are very uneducated and if you say 'Asian' to us, most people think China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand.. They seem to forget all the other countries 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I don't see how one Asian country doesn't view another Asian country as Asian.

its important to say that thailand is an astonishingly racist place unless you are a falang or asain, if you are a khaek or african its very diificult to get entry to bars, clubs etc. Even hotels unless booked will often say "full" if you are a khaek and walk in off the street...so to hear indian aussies might not like asains, well that may be understandable as some may have had unpleasant experiences with them.
