Marginal farmers find it difficult to access govt schemes as their number grows, income shrinks

  • "This year’s report shows that the percentage of farmers seeking supplementary incomes is increasing year upon year. This could be a secular trend, or conditioned by the delayed monsoon and comparatively milder and late onset of winter in the past few years. For the Kharif season (2023), nearly 50 per cent of the respondents reported crop losses in paddy and cotton, while 45 per cent reported the same in Rabi wheat and potato, thereby impacting their incomes", says Sanjeev Chopra in his column.

    Kisan morchas , rich farmers, farmers who are panchayat members , land lords are getting 90% of government subsidies and schemes

    Did the protesting kisaan morchas, consist of marginal farmers? Doesn't seem so. They brought good number of equipments, that you would not expect with the marginal farmers.
