  • A little while ago I visited La Marzocco Sydney HQ to take the LM Linea Mini for a test run. One of the coffees I made on this home espresso machine was a long black and seeing we’ve had a lot of customers ask how to make a great long black at home, we filmed it for you to follow along.
    You can find the show notes & more info about the La Marzocco Linea Mini here bit.ly/longblack

    Sorry, I disagree with using Tea Tap (Boiling) water. Use group head water and match the temp of the shot. Much better result and easier to drink early.

    Thanks, just wondering. What origins/ countries would you rate as the best for a long black? Looking for something that has a bit more floral tones yet still balanced..

    22g dose, 20g yield in 20 seconds? Surely that'll be under-extracted and sour?

      Gday Nicholas, Im sorry for the late reply, i lost my login details! There is a trend to extract one full length espresso shot into a long black, however for our taste at white horse coffee we find it too akin to filter coffee. Always remember that the 20ml/g of coffee is also diluted by 120ml of water, hence we find that the longblack displays itself as a rich and syrupy beverage but also subtely sweet.
      I do concur that in strict espresso brewing protocols the ratio is under extracted but if we were to use a single espresso or even two full length espresso shots, the end extraction % is diluted and (under extracted), the long black is an interesting drink with many ways to brew it, Finding what you like is half the fun.

      Water in first for an Americano followed by a double espresso, italinao the same as an Americano but less water

      Thanks for watching and making a comment, at White Horse Coffee, we make our long black coffee with a double shot, it’s a restricted length double shot, so most people will call that a double Ristretto, it adds a larger amount of tactile, body, mouthfeel and sweetness that you would get if you brewed with a single shot of espresso.

    • @asjeot
      @asjeot Před 4 lety +1

      No, Americano is espresso shot first and then hot water. Same same but less crema on the top, effectively...
