Excellent! You laid it all out there. The thing that surprised me most (& true for other CZcamsrs I've talked to), is the low % of views actual subscribers can be counted on for.
What about Expedia and other travel site affiliates, Global Banking or Travel Insurance?
I love your videos, it is 4 years since you guys have posted this video, I have noticed that in the recent year you have started posting long documentary style videos, has it changed or improved your YT earnings? would love to hear your thoughts.

But I am curious - in the video you had 35k subscribers and you said you had not gotten to the tipping point of where hotels and other lucrative offers were reaching out to you (with anything worthwhile)
But...4 years later in 2023 you have just shy of 250k subscribers. Have you now reached the tipping point?
This concept of a tipping point (and where that is) is something I've been aware of, but I don't have a clue how many subscribers that is. Thanks for your time!

I am a designer and I know how hard is to come up with one piece of creativity. You earn a new subscriber from this honest video. I spend average of 5 hours a day on youtube and it's my primary learning/entertainment source but I hardly came across people like you. Thanks for taking us to the places, we possibly won't be able to go.

I have been wondering about young travellers and the money issues. Thank you for a great explanation plus the money breakdown!
I am a retired teacher and love to travel in our beautiful country. I watch youtube travel in places, especially the southwest, our National Parks, etc, and I am always amazed how young these kids are that take off and travel.
Expenses have to be a huge issue.
Your video needs to get to all the young people who have not had substantial jobs to do this. I know....lots of variable, pinching pennies, etc, but always the reality is huge.

Thanks so much for putting this out there Tim & Fin! ** I love your statement about why try to grow a following just to get something for free...because if you build a revenue generating business you can just pay for it! ** My thoughts exactly! You are completely right 100% and as a "travel blogger" for nearly 10 years I get so frustrated by seeing the misleading information out there. When my husband and I set out on this journey many years ago, we knew the "blog" would not be our primary income stream -- but that it would lead us to other ideas and other business ventures. We are entrepreneurs, and that is our primary revenue stream. ** By the way - Adam introduced us a few weeks ago via email and we look forward to meeting you and chatting more at the upcoming RVE Summit :)

Great advice, guys... Excellent! When we add in hotels, airfares, coaches, and even the very small costs... Not to mention, it could be thousands on a health issue, missed flight, broken/stolen gear, and so on.
I'm trying to think out this independent business myself and kind of way far from even starting properly.
Much older here, and not focused on travel, exactly, but.... all tricky.
(Pretty sure this message needs to get out there more, although maybe not all sites might prefer it!)

With that intro I was worried for a moment but DAMN you got to the crux of the problem. I LOVE doing CZcams - it's a lot of fun and I love that I'm making videos that I'll be able to watch back in later years. However, it's so time consuming and the countable return (note countable - I appreciate that anyone watching anything I do is a blessing 😂) is so small that after a couple of years, I have started to think 'is this sustainable?' and question 'what else could I be doing within this arena that doesn't involve 20 hour edits?'. Really interested to hear how you've made it work for you and thanks for sharing! (P.S. I watched the ad in full for this for you 😂😂😂)

Great video, nice to see a realistic cover of the ista-youtube-amazon ecosystem, it's actually encouraging. Nice to see you're not worried about tie-ups etc.; I'm not sure I'd ever want to be an 'influencer'. Have you looked at the 'free' alternatives to the $500 a year Adobe products and how they stack up against Adobe? Perhaps already guessing the cost Adobe is worth it for the productivity when you have a ton of stuff to do?

Great job guys! We are 4 1/2 years behind you as we've only been doing this for six months but, we started with the goal of sharing our love for travel and having fun and figured if we made a couple dollars in the process great. But, we never saw this whole CZcams thing as a viable "job"...even though we probably spend more time doing it than lots of people do with their real jobs. Good thing we love it!
It's a great hobby and something to work on while traveling. I think you guys really have the right attitude for it then!
@@timandfin Thanks! I (Doug) have been enjoying having our first experience with haters/trolls in the last week. We had a really bad experience at a hotel and posted a video about it. It was somewhat predictable based on what you hear on the news and I was actually looking forward to the entertainment but I could see how it could really mess up someone if they weren't OK with themselves. I have to keep Niki away from the comments it would make her very upset.
Looking forward to the next video! I started doing my channel here just for fun but I’m also looking to get started freelancing in my college major. Just have to figure out how to get started freelancing now 😅

You guys gave some good info about how people make money on CZcams. very transparent really cool. As I watched you guys I was wondering if you guys at least enjoy putting up videos, and then she said you guys do it for fun and then you put up the Your CZcams business plan. I got a little confused. After watching you guys I left thinking you guys are feeling pressure doing youtube. You guys are putting up such meaningful content. maybe you guys should really view it as a hobby that pays for itself.
I have read on other travel bloggers sites that their earnings increased substantially when they crossed a certain session threshold that allowed them to be represented by an ad management company. In the case of "Mediavine" it's 25,000 sessions or about 30,000 page views per month. OH! I forgot to say THANKYOU for your hard work and sharing! I know how much time and energy it takes to shoot, edit and post a vlog. One question. How do you get your teeth so beautifully White??? There's a marketing opportunity for you right there. You are a glowing testament to how well your tooth whitener works!
