This CNSC video series explains the main safety systems of Canadian nuclear power plants. Part 5 presents the role of the CNSC in regulating nuclear power facilities in Canada. The CNSC puts strict rules in place to ensure all nuclear power plant safety systems are maintained and inspected regularly, and upgraded when necessary so that plants meet or exceed strict safety standards. The CNSC works with CNSC staff is available day or night in order to provide support in the unlikely event of an accident.
