  • Elektron Syntakt Day Two (Using the FX Block)
Welcome to day two of my journey with the Elektron Syntakt! While I went into the unboxing video completely blind, for session number two I wanted to do a bit of research. So in this video I'm exploring a bit of the FX block and FX track, using it to create a faux-sidechain for the bass and chord tracks. The FX block is super powerful, I can't wait to explore it further! Enjoy the video :)

Another cool tip, if you hold Func while changing things like Delay Time it’ll jump between standard values (1/16th, 1/8th triplet, 1/8th etc). Works for tuning too, I believe it jumps by octaves if you hold Func for tuning

@@FreeBeat The 'holding Func' tip from @Croatoan Sounds also works on Model:Cycles for some parameters.

This was very helpful for me. The FX block did not make sense to me after reading the manual and watching a few videos on it. Thank you!

When playing with delay settings, the best things to mess with first is turning on ping pong.... increasing delay width just a bit, then feedback... just a bit.... then playing with the filter just a bit..... going back and forth... theres so much different tastes of delays you can get, its worth listening to what every little change can do to the overall sound when everything is routed to it. Happy to see you enjoying it!

I'm honestly not really feeling it. I get why so many folks love it, but I don't think it's for me. I'll be doing more content with it before sending it back though! Thanks for watching :)

You can copy multiple trigs at the same time, so for example if you hold trigs 1 and 3 and press copy then pasting at 5, 9 and 13 gets you all of your eighth notes.

FX track is so much fun. You can get some really cool weirdness with retrigs on it

@@FreeBeat yea it’s a lot of fun. I have had the syntakt a while and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of the FX track

You can also have the delay and reverb after the FX track, so a thing that I have been abusing a lot lately is to send stuff to the FX track and then sequence different delay send values on the FX attack in a polyrhythm with the actual content. It produces wild and weird sounding things!

I don’t own any PO’s, I do have a syntakt. The syntakt can easily control anything with MIDI capability, unfortunately the PO does not have midi. I did a bit of research and it looks like there’s no way to control it directly from the syntakt if that’s what you’re asking. You can try to sync tempo’s with a work around using volcas, but looks like people had varying results with that. You can also find midi adaptors for PO’s, not sure if they work.
