Attorney of suspected boater in Biscayne Bay deadly crash speaks out

- The attorney of the man identified by investigators as the operator of the boat that hit and killed Ella Riley Adler in Biscayne Bay over the weekend spoke out Wednesday, saying her client is devastated.
Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, of Coral Gables, is named as the boater in a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission incident report on the Saturday afternoon crash that killed the 15-year-old.
Krasnoff said Alonso was boating by himself on Saturday. When police came to his door, he didn't know why.

Where was the guy driving the tow boat. It's his job to protect anyone in the water on his vessel. He is just as much to blame for this.

I just want to point something out that troubled me from the very beginning.
When somebody is off of a wakeboard, water skis, inner tube and they're in the water. This is why you have a flagger!
Every time I've gone water skiing someone sits in the back of tye boat with a red flag and when someone is down in the water the flag goes out! Is no one doing that these days?
If someone had a flag out he would have known there's someone in the water to give the boat more distance and to slow down.
This is a horrible horrible tragedy that didn't need to happen. Please be safe if you're playing around the water and boats are active. It's very dangerous. My condolences to her family and friends. I feel for the elderly man too.

100% the wake boarding boat's captains fault. Where they were at is nonstop boat traffic. It would be like teaching a kid to ride a bike on an interstate then blaming a car for hitting them.

Doesn't mean he doesn't need to be charged, even if it must be with "Unintentional Manslaughter"...but this man should have never have been behind the wheel or throttle of that boat! He can't even stand fully erect, so how is he to see ANYTHING or ANYONE in the water as he's PLOWING HIS HIGH POWERED BOAT STRAIGHT THROUGH THEM?! A wakeboard in the water and being towed is by definition a vessel not under its own control.
Both it and the towing vessel should be carrying signals and lights to identify this.
The owner of the towing vessel is responsible for showing these signals.

I live in south Florida. I heard she dropped off and the second girl stayed on for a while. She was far away from the boat when she was hit. Sad

The one towing the boat is responsible. This old man probably didnt even feel a bump when running her over its not his fault. I also heard they were not wake boarding far enough away from where there was a lot of other boat traffic coming and going.
Was there red flags up. When you fall in the water the boat your with is supposed to hold up red flags to signal people in the water. Thats what i was raised on. Condolences to Ellas family and friends this is so heartbreaking.

From what I can see it doesn't look like he can't stand up straight. He is 78 years old. They will look into his driving record and if he has any physical impairments. The boat was going to fast. No way could you not have felt when you hit someone. You r to have someone on lookout. He is at fault .
