- This was taken from the theater festival 2016. The maximum time of our performance was only 10 minutes and so, we can only fit a minimum amount of songs. And also, no guys were able to participate so the plot only focuses on the Heathers and Veronica. Thank you for all the support!

im really upset with everyone, people are saying such negative things. THESE ARE JUST KIDS they won't be able to sing JUST LIKE the original cast. And, yes, JD wasn't there, but they probably didn't have a boy who was willing to sing for the part, why is everyone freaking out? ITS A MINI MUSICAL They won't have every darn part and character, and heathers wasnt really school appropriate anyway. whatever anyone else says, I think they did absolutely amazing, and it was well put together for it only being 10 minutes

Kayla OBrien I didnt say they where singing off key, I was saying they dont have to sing exactly like the musical. Not everyone can hit the key that the actors have and they dont have to sing it the same way. Just as long as they go high and low at the right moments, they can sing at different pitches.
Kalea Bunny they can sing high and low, but not off key. They were off key. It's different then singing high and low different then the normal musical.
Kayla OBrien its not exactly something they can control if they sing off Key, vocal cords do strange things sometimes, they can rip, they can make your voice crack, its not like everyone can sing perfectly
Kalea Bunny but they can't sing off key a bunch of times in the same son and call it a "freak accident" when I was younger then them I was in a professional show and I was the lead. I made sure not to make my voice crack or to be off key and my voice wasn't judged like these.

Guys the actors in Heathers had many years of voice training to be able to hit such high belts. These girls tried their best and did a pretty good job. Either start giving them helpful criticism or just keep your rude opinions to yourself.

I just wanna point out that this is a MINI MUSICAL. Meaning we can’t have all the scenes in it, and this is also a school competition with a maximum of 10 minutes performance. So yes, we didn't have a guy to portray JD nor Kurt and Ram.

Why is everyone so mean? I've seen some people really stepping in saying that this was "shitty" and that they can do better. They should really get off their high horses (we don't have proof of their singing so no reason to believe that they could do better). And instead of bashing these talented girls that probably didn't have a lot of time to practise, and were really limited in what they could and couldn't do, and maybe give some constructive criticism.
Seriously. They did well. Of course it won't be like the freaking original musical. And if you think that you can do better then at least give these girls some tips to improve themselves instead of putting them down without a valid reason.
People are pointing out what’s wrong with the performance. So they should know those are the points that should be worked on. When they point out what was bad with vocals, they should be practicing. They weren’t always harmonized. They should be in a room together trying to get their voices to match and sound like one. Some times some singers were too quiet or too loud. Another thing they can do in a room together so they match everyones volume.
The second "store" in candy store was really good and some solo parts were good, but could be better with more practice. Dynamic balance as well, Macnimera could have been louder, and though I'm glad Chandler was the loudest one, she gets a bit forteissi-issi-issimo, blending the others into the background.
Doesn't mean Duke is off the hook, balance needs to be established between chest voice.

I’m absolutely in love with this! All the kids did such a good job! I hate when people leave negative comments on videos like this, it’s obvious there’s talent there. Of course some parts are gonna sound off because they don’t have a stage full of extras and other people to balance out harmonies. Candy Store was one of the best versions performed kids that I’ve seen. Good job!
They shouldn’t need extras and other people to balance their harmonizing. Adding more people doesn’t change the fact that it would still sound off. They should have been practicing harmonizing with their fellow cast mates. That could’ve been done when they were rehearsing for the performance.

They can only be 10 minutes and a lot of the time characters have to be cut in order to make a story out of the songs. Also for a mini, only 10 people can be in it. There's maxis which can have 11+. So yea lol

By the looks of it, it's only an average high school production. I doubt their gonna be trained properly or anything.

I am so freakin impressed. THEY ARE JUST CHILDRENNN. And they did a actual amazing mini musical of HEATHERS, let that sink in. HEATHERS arguably one of the most controversial musicals out there. I’m extremely impressed they were able to censor it but still have the feel of heathers.

Everytime i watch an off broadway version of heathers, i always wonder how illegal heathers did it so badly and every other version uses people with actual talent.

Omg I’m a high school student and this reminds me of my previous school shows lmao like in a nostalgic good way (I do musicals professionally outside of school now so I stopped doing school musicals) like the minimalist costumes and mixed batch of talents LOL like even tho it wasn’t the best quality it was all still big fun ;) which I’m sure this show was too to do! Hope yall break more legs in the future LETS GO POP OFF

oh my god, this is so good! it's a great representation of the musical, in the 10 minutes it is. these kids are so talented in singing, dancing, and acting, and i can see any one of them having a future in musical theatre! best of luck to all of them, i wish them all success and i can't wait to see them grow and develop in the theatre industry

This was good, but it wasn't really Heathers. Considering Heathers is the last thing from school appropriate. No JD. No dead Chandler. I didn't really get sticking Seventeen Reprise right after candy store. The story was butchered into basically, just music instead of a musical. I think the performance was good though, just poorly made choices. Is there no guy in theater? Itd explain the lack of Ram, Kurt and Jason
other dottt it's for a competition which states that the piece can only be 10 minutes long and sometimes characters have to be cut in order for a story to be formed into those 10 minutes

It could be only ten minutes. So that means they had to cut out some songs,also,probably they couldn't find a boy performer.
This is by far my favorite Candy Store performance. WAAYYYY better than the other versions.

*in Beautiful, everyone was off pitch. I don't know if that's part of having a small amount of people- no. Some people weren't singing their parts and it rEALLY messed up.
*Veronica wasn't singing out in her chest voice. I know it's hard to sing out, but you get better with PRACTICE.
*same thing in Candy Store. All of them were singing in their head voices, instead of trying in their chest voices. I can understand Whoever was Heather Macinara was doing so on her part, but she could at least try.
*and simply, everything was just a little off. Except for the Seventeen reprise. The two were great.
Again, I'm not an expert, but I just wanted to try and help out, from a Chorus singer's perspective.
Shoutout to the person trying to properly cheer on Veronica when she came on stage during Beautiful. 😂
