Do you water them like a normal succulent?
Once the soil dries out almost completely, I mist over the soil till it’s fairly damp. Hope this helps!
NO! These are like desert plants. They grow much better with minimal water, well drained pot. I water once per month, let the pot drain well. I use cactus mix. Feed with a fertilizer made for succulents. These plants will grow to seek water. I do occasionally mist them but that isn’t necessary. Put in bright indirect light. I have so many right now that I’ll be selling some in a garage sale. Lol.
You always want to keep the soil damp! Depending on the humidity/ heat where they are growing you will most likely end up *misting* the soil every 2-3 days. also remember to use a well draining pot!
Never successfully 🤔😳😢🥲
@@passionforplants3242 Do you mist the plant too ? I usually bottom water all my plants but this wouldn't work since there aren't roots. I bought a little squirt bottle I was just going to wet the soil around it that way.
Mom said I can only buy one succulent. So I am going to try to grow my own 🙃 she didn't say anything about that
Go for it! Always a fan of finding a loophole
Good stategy
how's it going with the propagation
@Random Acts of Hughes how you gotten started yet?!
Awesome!! Trying to find ways to save money on buying more plants is smart and your mom should be proud!! Besides that, learning how to growing anything is how a plant lover is born!!! And maybe even someone who will have greenhouses full of plants!! Besides without plant life there is NO oxygen!!! Come on Mom,,be proud!!! You have a pretty smart daughter!!!
Finally a video that shows what to do with the original leaf! All the other videos I watched they just *magically* disappear lol
It’s actually way better to leave it on until it dries up and falls off on its own. The baby will grow much faster, since the original leaf is a better source of nutrients than the soil.
😂😂😂😂😂 like hellooo I’m a beginner
I love your confidence, just yanking leaves off like 'no biggie,' I'm afraid if I just look at them funny they'll die. 😂 Very informative, beautiful centerpiece. Thank you!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
i feel ya 🤣
And it is confidence for anything 😊👍
There like impossible to kill I didn’t water mine for a year and then cut some bits of and re planted it. Now it’s massive
My problem was over watering. But if you can get past that, they're really hard to kill.
i love heading to lowe’s and taking the already fallen leaves!
I have been taught that it is important to leave the orig leaf on, because the baby plant gets it’s nutrients from the original leaf. In time, that original leaf will wither, and will detach itself, when the baby doesn’t need it anymore, and is mature enough to get it’s nutrients from its own roots that by then, have grown into the soil.
at the very least it will grow much faster with the leaf connected... once it has its own new small leafs and roots and can grow on its own, but will be much slower without the mother leaf feeding it...
If it has roots it can get moisture/nutrition from the soil, but like anything if you don't NEED to remove it, don't.
People cut off leaves from plants when trying to get a desired effect, or some less-informed folks will advocate trimming leaves because they're "unnecessary" and don't like how they look, but in reality any healthy leaf is generating energy for the plant.
That makes perfect sense.
You should also not take cuttings from a plant that's flowering, or touch the top of the echeveria leaf because it'll wipe off all of the farina
I’m so glad you mentioned that you can just drop them in soil without letting them callous first. Succulents are meant to reproduce, so they drop leaves to survive and re-propagate themselves! I’ve never had to let them callous! Also, I never leave them on their side like you shows I literally just take a leaf and put in in the dirt and it becomes a whole new plant! I have copious succulents by doing this method. It’s very hard to mess up a succulent propagation!
Out here in California, all we do is just drop succulent leaves in areas where we want them to grow and they grow! We never worry about the soil or fussing over the water or light. They are resilient plants and humans make it too complicated! I’ve tested this out by planting the succulent leaves in various kinds of dirt/terrain and then I come back to check on them a month or so later, and they were alive and growing! No need to be so fussy! Just let them do their thing!
That's good to read. I've been studying how tos and what kind of soil, trays I need to start the broken leaves etc. It's nice to know I can just drop them and let nature do it's thing. Thank you
if i just drop a leaf on the soil it just gets dry and dies.
I love this girl because she makes it simple everyone else I’ve tried makes it hard
I agree, this is the only site that tells you clearly how to take care of your succulents 👏
Interesting. You're the only video that don't let the leaves callous out. Saves me 3-5 days of waiting! Thanks for the tutorial!
I only waited overnight...(I did it before I watched this video).
Me too , i just leave it to dry out for a couple hour before planting it
Agreed!
U can set them right on soil and they’ll be fine
How much soil and like in sunlight or where I just did some this week
We wnt to Lowes today and my husband didn't let me stay long... he said WE CAME FOR DIRT..FOCUS.. GET THE DURT AND LETTTS GOOOOO... so sad.. got my dirt and 2 clearance dollar plants..I tried
I love those little baby flowers coming through the leaves, adorable 🥰
I already know how to do it,I'm here just cause I love watching succulent babies become mature plants.
That arrangement is gorgeous! Great video, it really helped me troubleshoot when I wasn't seeing any results with props. After watching this and following your advice, I've had way more success!
People may claim this is fake NOPE just be careful taking the leaves off and it works 🙂
I have a ton going myself at the moment
Also if they get “leggy” or stretched out cut them down pull the leaves and continuing watering the stem it will grow new leaf bunches and become bushy
For the tops pull the leaves off so there’s about half an inch to an inch of stem, let it callus then plant it and the top part will also root (if given the right conditions) 😁
I also tried this with my leggy propagations and it’s surprisingly working not only is the residual stem (which I left a few leaf nodes on) is growing new leaves the tops rooted along with the leaves rooting and growing into baby plants 🙂
I’d post pictures if I could
Your arrangements are goalssss. Right now mine are growing hella crazy but I haven't arranged them ever.
Great video, straight to the point without all the annoying fillers that other videos have.
Thank you. Yours is the only site that explains clearly how to take care of your succulents.
Thank you!! I’ve watched 5 or six videos for the whole process, and you nailed it! Much appreciated. 🌈♥️🙏
Thank you so much!
Agreeeeed I might even subscribe 🥰♥️🤙
Thank you so much, I've been trying to propagate succulents for a long time. I now realize why. I had not been letting the leaves touch the soil at the tips. I realize why I was only getting the roots 🙂 the way you zoomed in to demonstrate how to propagate them was awesome. Thank you🤗.
Great video, I love how you explain every detail especially for us beginners. Thank you!💐
Would love to see a video on how you out the centerpiece together; it's gorgeous!
Same!!!
This is the only video I found that actually explains how to pull the original leaf off. Thanks!!
I never really thought much of succulents just recently i grew fond of em. Theres so many pretty varieties Love this tip! Thank u
Not all start this way. I've been doing this for three years now. Some start real good others don't. It's fun to see which ones do. I get tired of waiting sometimes.
Oh my!! Never knew it was this easy to plant them!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of succulents with us! You answered all of questions 😊
I appreciate that you are organized and to the point. Thanks.
I didn't know that this was actually possible!! One of my echeveria's lost a leaf today and I was so sad about it and thought I was doing something wrong so I did some research and found this video here!! Now I'm just really excited and will try to propagate with the leaf!! I'm so happy that I don't have to throw out the leafs!! It just feels weird to me to throw aways something from my plants.
When the leaves fall, it's the most fun!
Did it work?? I rlly hope it did!
How’s it going?
Any update?
Thank you for staying on point ♡ learned so much from this video
Gorgeous arrangement!
the big planted pot that you are pulling the leaves from is sooo beautiful
This is a really helpful tutorial! Thank you for making this!
Thank you so much! I will try to place the leaves the way as you suggested! I hope to propagate some of my moonstone which is one of my favorites!
I never let mine callous either, just directly to soil.
Very thorough video!
This was extremely helpful and thorough!!!! Thank you so much! you explained some of the little details that other videos didn't :,)
This video was so helpful! I’m not good at keeping plants alive and I’ve been trying because I love having succulents and I had noticed a couple leaves had fallen off but they were still alive. So thank you for this helpful video!!
I am soo happy I found your video.. love how you fully explain everything❤
I'm glad I watched your video first before doing anything with my succulent. I was about to repot it. I didn't think of propagating it, but now I will after watching your video. Thank you
i love your succulent arrangement, it looks like a bouquet 😍
I am so in love with these natural beauties… I am going to try it …I have a few that I bought and they seem to be doing well .🥰🥰🥰thank you

Muchas gracias por compartir tu conocimiento de propagación por hoja
Exelente video 🤔👍✌️
That pot display is so amazing
Oh boy. Can't wait. I love to walk thru garden dept at Walmart & just pick up all the pieces I see that have fallen off. When I lived in Florida I had no problem w them propagating. Now that I'm in way upstate NY...it may be a little trickier. We'll see!!!
Thank you for the info! Can't wait to propagate my own!
I'm new to your channel, and looked up how to propagate, I have different families of succulents, and you made this propagation easy to do ! Thank you for the instructions 🙏 ☺️!
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Ok, I laughed at the gigantic water sprayer. It's almost taller than you in the video! Too funny. (But hey, it works!)
Your arrangement is beautiful! Thanks for the tips. Anne
All my questions were answered here, so thanks a bunch. 💐
Instead of wiggling the leaves into the soil until the node touches, you can choose a smaller tray and prop the leaves up onto the rim. Works well, too, and you don't accidentally squish the leaves.
Most honest video I’ve ever watched. Very calming also 😊
Thank you. Answered all my questions instead of y usual hit & miss.
What a beautiful kitchen!
Thank you so much. About 7 leaves fell from my plant from over watering . I was almost in tears until seeing this now I will have 7 new plants !! Yea!
Do they grow in new plants?
Thank you for the tips! I’ve been doing something wrong lol! Now I know what to do 👌🏽
You have such light and sweet energy. Loved the video. Others keep saying "must!" You are flexible and helping us realize try and see!

this was great! thanks
I’m a novice and propagate some succulents in water and yay they have roots so I need to get them into soil. I had a whole lot of petals as well just sitting on the soil and didn’t see much luck so o just chuckled them into pots and hoping! I’ve got some also potted but they need repotting I think 🤔 it’s trial and error. I like your way of propagating so will try your way. Thanks for sharing 😊👍
Super helpful! Thanks!
