Beautiful! It’s so wonderful to hear this as pure music. I love the hr symphony and the singers are also fantastic. Thank you for making this available!!

The most classic and exciting part of this video is a male and female duet from 48:49 to 1:03:30.

Guter Dirigent! ❤

    Wonderful performance!
Endrik Wottrich sings with heart and soul,he serves the composer;his voice touches, there are beautiful moments ,expressive phrasing and highnotes.
technical perfectionists may back off now and again.
    RIP Endrik,we miss you🙏🖤

2:15 Notice how Wagner quotes "Donners call" And his Hammer From "Einzug gotter im valhal" in Das rheingold. Magnificent!

I was very sad to hear about the untimely death of Endrik Wottrich. His performance here is complicated - that is, beautiful phrasing and a real attempt to sing softly, but the voice itself is not particularly pleasant. I did enjoy Minkowski’s conducting - I just can’t stand when conductors play Wagner like they’re preparing to go to war (I’m looking at you, Solti).

Overall, not the greatest admirer of Wagner's music, however, there's no denying that parts of "Der Ring des Nibelungen" contain some of the greatest music in all opera! Not in the class of King/Crespin/Frick/Solti or Vickers/Brouwenstijn/Ward/Leinsdorf but overall, save a few off moments, I enjoyed the performances.

Endrik Wottrich gets more and more dreadful as the evening progresses. He is severely taxed by the role. "Winterstürme..." is just unpleasant. His tone is patchy and there is a distinct lack of line and legato in his singing. Thank god he made it through the sword scene. Christiane Libor is new to me. On the evidence of this concert here she gave a decent performance. Her singing is a bit old-fashion and she started rather uninspired. I was expecting more from her "Der Männer Sippe...". She got better by Du bist der lenz and finally came alive at the end: 1:02:30!
When I saw the conductor's name I thought I was expecting a historically-informed performance! lol

      What a disrespectful comment,
as well regards the fact that this singer is not with us anymore.
I sung with Endrik Wottrich in Parsifal,Fidelio, listened to him at various performances, and in the last year he succeeded in Arinadal in Leipzig, easy highnotes, and we can agree this is a killer part for a tenor,as well I heard him in good form in Covent Garden in Fidelio,Flying Dutchman,as well phenomenal in La Wally inVienna.
Here as Siegmund he manages the hurdles of the part, but more importantly sings with his heart and this is beautifully supported by Minkowski.
I felt I have to stand up for an artist here, and I know as well that his uncompromising nature contributed to the negative press.
