How to Make Biscuits - (The easy way!)

  • Made with simple ingredients, these light and fluffy baking powder biscuits are so quick and easy to mix up. Using both baking powder and baking soda, this old fashioned biscuits recipe has buttery layers with a golden brown crust. They're a universal favorite comfort food and are served often hot & slatered in butter (and sometimes jam) alongside soups. They can also be used for yummy breakfast sandwiches.
    I've been making biscuits for over 30 years the same way, but as I started to do research for this biscuit recipe post, I started to doubt my own abilities. Goodness gracious, there are rules upon rules nowadays about how to make "proper" biscuits.
    I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be so complicated! You're going to love this recipe - and here's why:
    -No special ingredients are needed - no special flour, flour brands, or mixes.
    -This method is super quick and easy - and they turn out great every time!
    -Cutting in the butter doesn't have to involve freezing the butter first. (If I have to wait for butter to freeze, we're all in trouble...)
    -This recipe is an old fashioned one - found in my Mom's recipe file. It was simple ingredients written out with super simple instructions. Don't let biscuits scare you. You can do this! Come on into my kitchen and I'll show you how.
    Ingredient's you'll need for this biscuits recipe:
    -2 cups all purpose flour - Fluff it with a spoon before measuring to ensure no lumps are in it.
    -2 teaspoons baking powder
    -1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    -1/2 teaspoon salt
    -1/4 cup unsalted butter
    -1 Tablespoon lemon juice + enough milk added to it to make 3/4 cup (or 3/4 cup buttermilk)
