I've been binge-watching Create This Book and I came across this video in the sidebar and wondered what you'd done with the Wreck this Journal for it to be so thick, lol. It seems you took the Wreck This Journal and turned it into a Create This Book instead, lol. You didn't wreck it at all and instead turned it into a beautiful work of art keepsake. I love it. I can't bring myself to "wreck" any book and I would have probably done the same thing you've done here, lol. Your artwork is wonderful and I'm glad I decided to click on your video!
Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I really couldn't bring myself to wreck it. It seems so wrong to destroy a book despite that being part of the instructions. It may not be the original intent of the book, but I am really happy I have such an awesome book to look back on. I've started Create This Book as well, and I definitely like how less destructive that one is. lol Thank you again for commenting, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂

I love that you took artisitic liberties! I have a budget Wreck This Journal I got a few years back (i think it's called Rip It, Write It, Draw it) and some of the prompts I really do not like, and so I think I'm going to take artistic liberties with it as well lol
I love taking prompts and putting my own spin on them! I definitely encourage you to do the same. Some prompts I just didn't connect with and putting my own spin on them definitely helps with that. I actually have that prompt book as well as one called "Create + Destroy" which is a very similar book by the same company. I have a couple of videos about that book on my channel as well. Thanks for commenting! I hope you're able to find inspiration and your own takes on the prompts!

Hi. How you draw that trees. What kind of colour you user? Color pencils or else?
I love the mushrooms. They are my new favorite to doodle. I just discovered your videos today but I will be doing some binge watching this afternoon. It looks like I am the lucky 200th subscriber! I will share your site with my friends too. Do you use any gesso or anything to prepare your pages or do you just go for it? And, do you glue pages together to make them thicker for painting (when you will be painting)? I am so looking forward to watching your other videos this afternoon!!
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me! 😄 I do not typically use Gesso. I usually just go for it! If I'm using something that bleeds heavily such as markers or paints I will do it on a separate piece of paper and glue it in the book. For my Wreck This Journal I used a thicker drawing paper. But in my more recent projects I often use a thinner computer paper. I found the thickness of the drawing paper sometimes difficult to turn the pages, but the computer paper turns really easily and fits in the book nicely. I never glue pages together, but I will glue the pages in once finished with crafter's tape (so it doesn't wrinkle the pages so much). I hope this helps! Thank you again for subscribing! 🙂
@@CarouselArtsCrafts i find that I am painting a lot instead of using markers. Something about markers just won't work for me...I hate seeing those lines they make and I can't seem to find any that don't streak (or can't afford good enough ones). Gluing it in after its done is a good idea. I am working on a mushroom page...inspired by your mushrooms...but I am going to draw/paint the mushrooms separately and then fussy cut them and use foam squares to mount them on the page to add dimension. I don't really mind the bulkiness of the journal with a few super bulky pages here and there. Were you inspired by anyone's mushrooms or is doodling them just 'your thing'? I am starting a vintage journal with a 65 year old children's book my dad used to read me as a kid and I want to have my mushrooms down pat.
@@catherinemccarty2307 I understand you there! I used to hate markers and how it left streaks or looked different where you went over it accidentally in some areas. I just discovered alcohol markers (which I use in some of my other videos) and I am in LOVE (they're much better about the streakiness). I am really glad my mushroom page inspired you! I'd love to see it when you're done. The 3D-ness of it with the foam squares sounds like a really cool addition! For inspiration I honestly just looked at images of mushrooms to get some ideas. Some were straight out of my head color wise and others I looked at reference images to get the shapes and colors like I wanted them. 🙂
