  • This program is a sampler of "Extras" from 3 of our Pittsburgh History Series specials. From RIGHT BESIDE THE RIVER, Nic DiSio from Reyna Foods shows us how he makes tortilla chips in Cadogan, PA, and we talk to folks in California, PA, about an old movie of their town in 1938. Then we share some extra bits from UNDERGROUND PITTSBURGH and WHAT MAKES PITTSBURGH PITTSBURGH? Good fun stuff!

What I don't understand is that PBS is constantly on the lookout for new and exciting programming to feature. Well, Rick Sebak is a Pittsburgh institution and he and his programs are dearly loved. So why do they limit the shows to 30 or 60 minutes? Rick could add in enough "extra" material to make each show two or three hours and the audience would devour them! I could sit and listen to Rick just chatting about his own Pittsburgh memories! For crying out loud, Rick could have his very own TV channel in Pittsburgh and the people would love it.

I remember visiting the machine shop in Marshall's basement, such an interesting place. in fact it was Rob that gave me the tour of the facility. no trouble with the light back then, dating to 2010

Thanks for an absolutely wonderful video. There's no place like Pittsburgh. Most of my working life centered in working in this wonderful place. I always had a pleasant experience there. I traveled from Uniontown five to six days a week.
