The Overdose That Changed My 20s | Op-Docs

- After the birth of my first daughter, I wanted to protect her at any cost. As I worried about what could happen to her, I started to think about the person she would be as a teenager. Would she be as limitless as I was as a young adult, pushing at the boundaries of her life?
During this time, I rediscovered an old movie I made with my best friend when we were 20. It immediately brought me back to the early 2000s and the wild - and at times destructive - fun of my youth. I felt a flood of nostalgia for that time: the clothes we wore, the bravado in our voices, the friendship we had.
But I look back at that time with mixed feelings. I see a boy who’s insecure, who feels unseen and unheard and takes a lot of risks to escape those feelings. But I also see a boy excited about the future who wants to change his life and who’s dreaming big.
Though I wish I could change the past, I just have to live with it. Today I can’t understand the risks we took back then. But when you’re young, you don’t have time to think of death.

It was tough to hear this in my native Swedish, after having struggled with drugs my whole life. I see my friends in those two, and I know exactly what it was like. I don't live in Sweden anymore, and I'm clean from drugs. But I still struggle. And I'm so grateful that this Op-Doc was shared today, of all days. I needed it.
Winamp really does the deed of setting a time for this, even with the date on screen the whole time.
Well done. Thank you. Reminds me of all the foolish stuff I did in my 20s. It’s a miracle I’m still here.
You both seemed so cool already, w/o drugs. I'm always reminded how nothing ever allows you to really see/know what another person is feeling, no matter how sure you feel or how much experience you have.
Im so sorryu for your loss. Its so lucky to have this footage together though. thank you for sharing
This is very touching
Sorry for your loss :(
This was fantastic
now I want some GHB
This is why we need actual education on these substances and some kind of cultural protocols. For example, designating a couple people to stay sober and monitor the partygoers couldve saved his friend from exposure.
Simply implementing prohibitions doesn't work.
this is like Trainspotting but real.
Fantastic documentary, it was done so well. Giving us a glimpse into the lives of young men who think they are invincible, and it taking a death for that belief to come crashing down.
My god. I'm so sorry.
That's such a good bit at the beginning.
I feel like we all have a story of OD and death... 😢
Powerful
That was a beautiful tribute to your friendship.
That hit differently, messed me up quite a bit, to be honest.
I'm out, take care.
bruh they really thought a dude peeing for a full minute would make a good intro.
He's cute
yeah it destroyed the whole clip
Reminds me of reindeer spotting.
Is it some sort of overdose awareness day? Several vids in my feed are drug related all of a sudden
CZcams is trying to send you a message
@@mason96575 yea except it's been like a decade since the last time I smoked weed
It’s bc you’re a junkie dude omg how could you
Does anyone know where this is filmed and what language they’re speaking? I thought either French or German but I’m terrible at this game.
It doesn’t sound like either French or German. It almost sounds more like Norwegian but I’m terrible at this game too 😂
Ahhh, google the director. He’s Swedish 🎉
It’s Swedish
UH OK
Sad.
It's so hard switching, expecting English but hearing Swedish.
your comment is so out of place
Tragiskt ❤
Well, what of it, that's what youth is for to commit sacred follies..
Ok wtf is this beginning?!??!
Not exactly, he's using the water jug. It's supposed to be a scene for their movie.
Cute guy
What language ?
Swedish
Japanese
jesus why the peeing scene??? WHY???
Why did i think this was vice
Lmao same
Probably the intro 😂
Riveting.

Oh is this one of those offset spam posts to fool the CZcams algorithm?
Weird choice to upload this without English subtitles to an English channel... would have loved to watch this but useless as is :/
Why does this start with watching some guy peeing for 30 seconds? This is only a minute or two in and it doesn't bode well.
It is a serious topic. I don't understand how the first minute of the video where we watch a presumably naked guy in the bathroom peeing helps convey the seriousness or anything in the message.
* It's been explained that he wasn't peeing that a bucket was shown at the very start. I'm still not clear as to how this helps with the story. The water/ bucket/mimicking peeing doesn't do anything for explaining the overdose that changed his life.
If anyone has an explanation or a point of view as to how it does further the story I would be interested in your perspective.
He was pouring the bucket of water in the toilet, wasn't actually peeing on camera. They showed the bucket of water right before.
You can see the water in his hand, he's pouring it in the toilet
@@Shackleford8thank you for clarifying. What is the point of it in any case? How does it further the story of an overdose? No snark intended I genuinely don't get it. If you explain I will be happy to delete my comment.
@@AccidentallyOnPurpose Okay, I appreciate the clarification but how does that help the story of what they are conveying? Other people thought he was peeing also, that's entirely my fault for not paying attention to the bucket of water but the question remains, what's the point of the intro with the water/bucket/mimicking peeing?
@@Kyarrix He probably did it while high, the doc shows him doing other silly/bizarre things. Probably to encapsulate who he was.
