- An old BBC radio broadcast of a classic detective Maigret story
Published in 1931, it is one of the earliest novels to feature Inspector Maigret in the role of the chief police investigator. In this classic tale, Maigret investigates the murder of a Jewish diamond-merchant, the suspicious death of a businessman, and the killing of an unlucky commercial traveler.

I do household chores while listening to these. It makes everything better! Thank you!❤
Excellent, what time can you come round?
Very funny!!! I don't even want to do my own chores!! Lol!!!
I listen to these while doing my homework too 😊
Me too, it makes household work so much easier😮💨
I could listen to these dramas all day. Especially Maigret❤
I too could listen to these dramas all day.Especially Mondays.😊 (Sorry)
I just love these old radio dramas... Fantastic to drive to. Brilliant for relaxing in the traffic. Thanks a bunch. ❤🎉
Glad you like them! I do the exact same thing!
They are nice, aren’t they? A nice switch to exercise the little gray cells, to quote another famous literary sleuth, Hercule Poirot.
Thank you! Love these, listen while I’m doing household chores, driving…
Love these radio dramas! ❤
The theme music is Altair by Hingross if anyone is interested, I love that tune.
Love triva. Thanks.
Loved Maigret with Jean Gabin. I can always tell the distinct voices of Maurice Denham and Michael Gough, great actors.
the AI image is post-Great War -- the book was from before
The great war is the first world war, 1914-18. The book written in 1931 so a few years before the second world war 1939-1945 (I'm British hence the dating), which makes the picture pretty well dated. Sorry to be picky but I was a little taken aback at your dating of the great war.
@@jessamysilverman3058 Yes, WWI was the Great War, the War to End All Wars. Of course, any war you are in is a great war.
@@jessamysilverman3058 I agree with your 'pinickiness'! The Maigret stories were written/set during the 'inter War' years [1918-39].
Too much advertising
❤
read the book
so the AI image is wrong as being 1920s post Great War -- the novel was pre-Great War
#AIfail
Do both and have extra fun🎉
There is something that doesn't quite 'gel' with a Continental detective dealing with mostly ordinary class crime in a Continental setting.
Lacks a certain ... je ne sais pas, in the absence of an English setting.
Je ne sais quoi
Interrupted by stupid ad - NO THANKS!

Not great
Apart from Maurice Denham the acting here is roughly village Panto standard .
Were they really so short of actors at that time..??
Panto acting in this Maigret adaptation!
Oh no it isn't!
Nice English. Not as incredibly reduced as US "tump-istan" english.
Not as elaborate as fairly decent british english is though.
At least the speakers try to add some (pronouciation) level on top of the written script.
The cheap, anoying adds interrupting the listening are launched by chineese advertizers trying to promote bullshity hair, beard and parfume products.
This is how You Tube works. Don't t want adds? Get CZcams premium. Easy peaszy. Stop complaining.
@@stardresser1 I perfectly know that. The adds orient me though in what not to buy.
Pronunciation.
*trump-istan, sorry.
Haven't heard of this series before. Love by.
C b s mystery theater but it will be nice to have a bit of a change once in a while. Thank you
