That Time Luffy Killed Someone

- Fans of One Piece recognize this scene. If you don't I'll get you up to speed.
April 5th 2009. In retalition for the shooting of his friend Hatchan, Luffy unleashes one of his angriest blows against the shooter and World Noble Saint Charloss.
The blow; a simple one really smacks against the resin bubble, popping it and injuring Charloss. We've rarely seen Luffy this angry or hit someone with this much force…except we have. In fact if you look back just a few years you'll find that a similar blow, once killed someone (non-canonically)
Luffy wrecks the World Noble Saint Charloss for shooting his friend and ally Hatchan. With a single, angry, punch. This punch is commonly featured as one of Luffy's most devastating blows, but most of you may not realize, is that this isn't the first time Luffy has thrown a blow of such wrecking potential.
In the 2005, motion picture One Piece: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island, Luffy as described in the One Piece Wiki
"With more hatred for Omatsuri than anyone else had ever provoked, he puts all of his energy into an immensely powerful punch, striking the Baron's face and ending his life.

The first one I wish. The second. . . yeah I think that guy was already dead or un-dead, no longer human.
That is true, but think for a second. He still felt pain, he still felt sadness for his nakama, he was in the possession of memories. We know that Brook is dead but do we not acknowledge his existence? He isn't so different. Something other than the life they were born with (one case a devil fruit, the other case a parasitic plant) is/was keeping them alive or un-alive. Luffy ended that existence. Luffy did not cause the events that ended in death, Luffy was the event.
Nytmaer sorry I’m late, Brook technically isn’t dead, (you may already know this) he was supposed to have flesh and bones when he came back to life but by the time he found his body it had already decayed, but I do agree with you.

This guy shows up later in one piece so he didn't die
İn 2005 there was a one piece movie called "Baron omatsuri and the secret island" Its the darkest one piece movie
This brings up an interesting question for me - as a pirate, who are historically regarded for their ruthlessness and penchant for killing, isn’t it expected for Luffy to let loose more and kill? I guess Oda has made it a point that Luffy is a kind hearted adventure loving pirate who avoids killing, but it’s not shocking to me that he could kill someone.
Oda explains that people in this era don't always resort to killing not because of mercy or morality but because of their ambition. It's an age where one is guided by their dreams and ambition. That means their ideals are brought into their battle. When one is defeated it sends a much deeper message.
They aren't strong enough to carry out their dreams. Their will is broken and ambition lost because they don't have the strength to support it anymore. If you die with you ideals it means you held onto them in the very end. Essentially with every defeat, Luffy shatters their ambition. But not all hope is lost. Through defeat one can pick up their shattered ambition and move forward. But only few are capable of this. Like with Zoro and Mihawk. It was an example of this idea.
Because for Luffy being a pirate is about freedom and doing as he desires which is also why he wants to be King of the Pirates. He sees that as the best freedom anyone could have
Did you sleep during watching the anime or what? Since the beginning Luffy was inspired to be a good guy by Shanks
@@leandrou100 well yeah I know his inspiration - just posing a question as to what would be expected of Luffy strictly as a pirate. It’s the definition of pirate I’m interested - you’re right that shanks is his inspiration and shanks is also a good guy, but historically piracy would involve murder and violence, more like Blackbeard, who Oda has said is the most “pirate like” of any of his characters.
In episode 917 (afair) Luffy talks to Silk about why he became a pirate - there are two types of them, where one plunders everything (morganeers) and the other type, who are looking for adventures and fight against morganeers (peace-main).
This fact is very often unknown to people, but it was stated in one of the manga chapters, which was the basis for that episode.
