The Wrightsville dam did not burst and is almost at capacity, however it's not filling as fast and the sun came out in a lot of Vermont.

Well for me that is like an afternoon's worth of rain so it's hard for me to fill out my but yet and still kind of funnyfor god sakes get those fans blow and dry out your walls dry out your walls kill the mold get the bleach get the bleach
A lot of people that have never experienced any kind of flood have no idea how much damage any amount of flood water can do - even as "little" as 6-9 inches - and in a VERY short period of time. I just hope that they have insurance to cover whatever damage they experience in order to rebuild, repair and replace what's been damaged / destroyed and that they lose as little as possible when it comes to things that can't be replaced. It can be emotionally devastating. Much of northern rural Vermont and New Hampshire isn't very well off at all and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this.
You've probably seen the news about insurance companies pulling out of California and Florida. That money trend will finally shut up the people who claim to see no climate correlations. Insurance actuaries can't afford to be dumb ideologues.
This is new for us. I live in Central Maine and even here the bugs, the birds, you name it...reflecting a very big change in the Earth!

Having my home here in SW FL flooded from hurricane Ian I know the predicament these folks are dealing with. The clean up and repair are time consuming and very costly too.
As a Vermonter I just want to say that was the dumbest coverage of a natural disaster I have ever seen.

Re spillway flooding when dams overflow or bursts (Ex in Vermont 7/10&11/23):
I worry about the rapid flow of inundation water eroding supports for a dam that's holding back the maximum volume it was designed for (+ the forcefulness of the max water that's pushing against the dam).
My feelings are that as excessive water begins accumulating anywhere, that everyone downstream of any dam should err on the side of evacuating early on (before escape routes become too risky) ... because no dams are 100% safe when faced with unpredictable (thus possibly unprecedented) stresses.
and Vermont wants to do away with more dams?

First of all prayers and blessings to all who are affected by this flood. I was flooded out myself in Scranton Pennsylvania in 1985. I lost a lot of personal items, keepsakes and many electronic devices worth thousands of dollars. But when it floods, you have two choices as a human.
First choice’s, move to higher ground or far away. Second choice you must rebuild your building 5 feet above the current flood level, and that takes wisdom. So please use the wisdom that God helps you gain to rebuild smartly or to not rebuild at all. Especially in a time where people are crying about us, killing the planet just think of all the chemicals, insulation sheet rock paint, asphalt concrete, and other materials to get washed down stream eventually into the ocean. I wish you all better luck, Godspeed and a prosperous future if you use your wisdoms. ❤️✝️🇺🇸 if you own the property, then get an estimate to Jack the house up 8 feet, put a new 1st floor or ground floor and lower the house back down on the new higher foundation. GOD speed and good luck. Trust the wisdoms GOD hands to you.

4/12 Bureau of Reclamation released unsafe amount of rushing water from Bully Creek Dam and resulted in flooding my house, sherrif dept rescued me & my daughter, to date we are still homeless, contacted Governor and Senator, no help!!!!! My house is unlivable....

A wavier jet stream leads to these type events with the smaller difference in temperature between the Arctic & tropics causing a wavier jet stream. So it's not just about warmer temps, it's about the jet stream too. We need to make a transition to a hydrogen energy based economy.
I was just about to say, did they see this in Irene? I was in that working on some metal fabricating in Rhode Island at the time. To hear that man say that it wasn't like Irene and he never saw that before makes it all the more "floods of a lifetime" and not just in a decade.

I grew up in Vermont, and I plan to move back as soon as I can because of the beauty of the state... and the people. There are so many people that are jumping in to help others up there during this, and they are not asking for anything in return. I love how the people are in Vermont, there is just so much love for everyone up there. Best wishes to all up there during this, I know the community will hold strong and get through this. Be safe!
