- A nossa experiência consiste na obtenção de etanol através de materiais acessíveis e de um processo biológico de extrema importância. Começamos por juntar água, açúcar e leveduras num garrafão para que as mesmas iniciassem a fermentação, e assim, começassem a produzir álcool. Seguidamente, a solução de leveduras, álcool e outros produtos de fermentação foi filtrada para facilitar o passo seguinte. Posteriormente, procedeu-se à destilação fracionada de 50mL do filtrado. Destes 50mL obtiveram-se três frações de destilação: a primeira, obtida, aproximadamente, até aos 87°C (obtiveram-se 3mL), a segunda, obtida dos 87°C até aos 97°C aproximadamente (obtiveram-se 2,5mL) e a terceira, colectada partir dos 97°C.
Finalmente, foi realizado um teste de chama de modo a comparar a inflamabilidade de volumes iguais da primeira, segunda e terceira frações com álcool puro. Verificou-se que a primeira fração e o álcool puro arderam mas o mesmo não se verificou para a segunda e terceira frações. - Věda a technologie

is the weight of the yeast right? I have seen other amounts of yeast, for example 5g yeast/kg solution
What I dont understand the ONLY part that confuses me is at 2:21. Where if shows RIGHT after the pouring of the fermentation,white powder inside of a glass item with a glass tube above it. What is that is it important or no ?

I think the distillation should be done in 2 stages. One with 40 C to discard methanol and second one with 78C to collect ethanol. Im I right?

What about using water mixed with sodium carbonate? It turns milky white in the prescence of carbon dioxide.
You don't need to. It is a waste of time, and money. It is likely to get white, because yeast produces carbon dioxide.

You can't produce 70% ethanol using yeast because the yeast starts to die at ranges between 12 to 20%. You will need to make a distillation.
A freeze distillation can make it to 40%
for better efficiency (reduce volume/concentrate) first freeze destill it once or twice before destilling

@NRG if ethanol exceeds 10% of the volume, the yeast will die. Ethanol is their waste!
Alcohol content in the mash is 12,94%, calculated (grams of sugar) / (liters of water) / 17. Sample is 6.47ml of ethanol.

No, not really I think, but it is in fact way better if you do it in glass. But I you plan to drink this: it's said it tastes like old gasoline sh* so not recomended.

@@merrith8321 no wtf, it is distilled. That means you can get to 60 and 70. If you do it multiple times: max 95% but you can make it 100 % with a few other methodes.

@@mostafaansari1412 they distilled it, whitch means it contains around 80 to 95 percent ethanol. Not methanol. Thats very posionous.

No what are u talking about? Not expensive. You can make your own distiller at home.
What the heck.You DONT need all of that stuff.Just a gallon water jug,few cups of sugar,bakers yeast and water.Just mix the warm water we with sugar and yeast.only takes me 2 days.Thats it.Just keep it warm while fermenting. And YES I said bakers yeast.Works just fine.Just keep it simple.
But this is just more efficient, and gets a better yield.

I've made it much simpler (distillation part).
1 v. (not tested): take a metal pot, fill it with ready to distill liquid, put in deep bowl (which will float on the liquid) and on the top put deep plate with diagonal edges, so that vapor, which condenses on the walls of that plate would drop in the bowl beneath. Experiment with the process, just rememeber, keep temperature of the liquid ar about 80 degrees of Celsius.
2 v. (tested) Just get your hands on 1, 2 or 3 litters jar (I took 1 liter) and metal lid (plastic might be OK too), 1 meter of soft copper (aluminium might corrode because of alcohol) tube (i have with the inner diameter of 4 mm), 50cm long rubber tube, some plastic bottle of 2 or 3 liters capacity.
Cut the top of plastic bottle, twist the tube into a spiral to fit in plastic bottle. lower end of the spiral should exit near the bottom of the bottle. Bottle will be filled with ice and water, so add some hot glue (I applied supper glue) to where bottle and copper tube connects. Connect rubber tube to plastic tube. Other end of plastic tube goes to the metal lid of jar. Just cut the hole, insert the rubber tube and I would suggest to apply supper glue, it will be resistant to heat. And it is ready to use after an hour or so (when glue is fully hardened). Just put liquid into the jar, put on the lid, put the jar into hot water of about 90 degrees of Celsius (temperature inside the jar will be around 80 degrees of Celsius, alcohol is vaporizing at around 79.8 degrees of Celsius).
By the way, remeber, that rubber tube should go up straight. Vapor has to freely climb to to top and start to go down only in copper tube (so it starts to condense).

@@ernicknickor9529 in my country you can still buy on the internet shops. Lucky me. Also I heard about freezing method. Just fill the liquid in the jar, put it open in freezer. Alcohol won't freeze and water will. This is how they extracted alcohol in ancient times. I don't know if you can reach 60 or more percentage per volume (so it would be effective disinfectant. I don't have large enough freezer to put large enough jar to experiment with that.

You cant make more pure alcohol than 95% by distillation. You need to buy special sponges that absorb water, but no alcohol.

3weeks.if u take earlier will be sweet when u consume u feel heartburn.will be too acidity.make sure right quantity of sugar and yeast u can add red color and fruits flavour.no need to whole the cap of bottle.just close it very lose so air can go out but can't get in.u get 4-12% alcohol.dnt move it during 3weeks

Only if you did it clean, and desinfected everything. And didn't distill it.(otherwise it is too concentrated) But they say it tastes like shit. Like old gasoline.
