Her husband was named Dolittle Lynn. There’s a movie called coal miners daughter starting Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones. It’s a really good biopic movie about her life and how she got started and country music. Some other good songs by her would be Coal miners daughter,Fist city, the pill. Her mentor was patsy cline who is another amazing woman to country music
Another Loretta classic kinda like this is "Fist City". It's like the opposite of Dolly's "Jolene". "The Pill" and "Don't Come Home a Drinkin'" are other great ones.
Loretta Lynn turns 90 years old this April 14, and I hear that she's still feisty. I've had the pleasure of meeting her a couple times many years ago, and she was warm and So friendly.
He was not big in music but he did guide and manage her career until he died in 95. Even though he was not shown in this video my Great uncle played lead guitar for her for almost 30 years.
As a side note, the steel guitar player is Don Helms. He was in Hank William's Drifting Cowboys band. If you like the steel guitar in Hank's songs, it's him.
If you watch Coal miners daughter.. You will get the story of her a d her husband Doolittle Lynn, it was he that got her stated in music. .
I lived a few miles from Butcher Holler, where Loretta grew up. Actually, Johnson County Kentucky has been home to a few different awesome singers. Tyler Childers went to high school here (grew up a county over in Lawrence, but transplanted to Johnson), Chris Stapleton, Loretta, and her sister Crystal Gayle. In Kentucky, legends are made up the hollers, on porches, and around summer bonfires.💙
Loretta is the Queen of country music. At 88 she has just released a new album that is breaking all kinds of records.
Loretta lynn is referred to as the first lady of country music. She wrote all her music. This song she wrote it in 15 mins she said in an interview once after an interaction with a fan. Her song fist city was written about her own life and husband. When her music first came out alot of it was not played on the radio. Stations refused to play her music you should check out the movie coal miners daughter about her life
ABSOLUTELY CHECK OUT THE MOVIE COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER!
Loretta Lynn has always been my favorite. She is the best!
Oldie but Goodie, love you're perspective. Cheers from Alabama.🙂
You need to see her autobiography movie, Coal Miner's Daughter !!! It's a classic & Sissy Spacek won an Oscar for it....and Tommie Lee Jones was robbed for best supporting oscar
+The 94 Club Yes there is a back story to this song told by Loretta herself. Loretta was backstage getting ready to perform when a fan came back to speak to her. The fan told Loretta that a woman in the audience was telling her that she was gonna take her (the fan's) man. Loretta told her "Aww honey, she's not woman enough to take your man" and then proceeded to sit down, wrote this song for her and performed it for her.
Thank you for your reaction to Loretta Lynn and I hope you'll react to more of her songs such as ( Fist City and The Pill ) just a couple of hers that are my favorite and also ( Coal Miners Daughter ) which is a biography of her life
Loretta, is " Queen " of country music!
Doolittle strayed a lot in their marriage and she wrote songs about their trials and tribulations… Coal Miners Daughter is a movie about her. Extremely good movie. They weathered the storms together until he died…in her arms. She lost two of her children as well. She is fascinating with a rich history behind her
The best!
Love Loretta
Love this woman. Hers is the quintessential American story. From less than zero, to an Immortal American Hero. And she did it the right way, only to be ridiculed and ostracized by the narrow minded in the 60’s. Built up only to be torn down(temporarily) for being genuine and sincere. Honestly speaking her mind and thus writing a song about something she knew all too well would help women in American and the entire planet. Doing so, almost ruined and cost her, her career. An issue, that at the time was stupidly considered risqué and/or taboo, yet very important to Loretta, then and now. So important in fact, that she was willing to speak up on women’s behalf without giving one good Goddamn about her career. Her only concern was doing what was right. The name of the song and the “controversial” subject was and is ‘The Pill’.
Definitely worth a few minutes to check out her background. Women had to be careful about lyrics back then or they wouldn't get played. . This song was considered a little risqué. Love the southern twang and steel guitar!
Waylon Jennings: Lonesome On’ry and Mean, Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way, I’ve Always Been Crazy
Sorry bud, I gotta spam ya until you do these songs lol
Abilene, Texas. Absolutely love what you do, please please check out The Hill Country Devil Michigan Rose and Kerr County Dopesick Blues, he's from my 9 of the woods and deserves more notoriety for how deeply he let's us into his shattered world. Love your channel, keep up the good work.
Hill Country Devil speaks the truth. He tears his heart out and puts it into his songs.
Th best!
This Damn Song by Pecos and the Rooftops!!!!
Oliver Lynn was her husband, he didn't do music, but helped her become a star. They were both from kentucky, Butcher Holler which is just north of Pike county Kentucky. Where Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson family is from. Her anthem is proud to be a coal miners daughters. She might have been the oldest child in her family. She has a much younger sister Crystal Gayle who had a fairly big career also. Dwight Yoakam family is from the area also. Good choice.
Loretta Lynn married an older man when she was only 13 years old. And he was a womanizer always running around. So the songs that she wrote she wrote them from the heart.
I suggest you look at the movie "coal miner's daughter. " it's autobiographical of her life
