    When our kids were the ages of yours, they would find a book they loved and tell me, like yours, "Mom, you have to read this!" We had five and six kids at that point. Time was an issue. I was doing a bit of cross stitch here and there, but that also was a time issue. So I suggested they read to me while I sewed. They loved it. "Mom, are you ready to sew now?" And so they would read aloud to me something they loved, and their little siblings got to hear the story, too, if they wanted. Precious times.

      Yes, I was thinking the Mirabilia would look great on our guest bed which rarely has occupants. Just a nice bit of decor and surely it will be less expensive to have her finished into a pillow than framed but I'm nowhere near having to make those kinds of decisions 😂 Thank you for watching!

    Hi, Audrey! It was great to visit with you again! Those little Mill Hill kits you showed at the beginning of your video are just precious! As a big fan of refrigerator magnets myself, I really admire the ones you’re going to adorn yours with. And when you showed all those tiny Shepherd’s Bush projects that you’d customized, I just fell in love!! You have a genius way of adapting them to your own tastes, and they are just beautiful. Thank you for sharing those, and all the other projects you’ve been working on. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your “quiet house” time while Ryan and the kids were away. I’m definitely planning on looking into the Mysterious Benedict Society books, too…they sound like a fun read. Happy stitching to you until next time! 🥰

    Audrey, enjoy every minute of your solitary life! I do remember YEARS AGO how rare that was. And I enjoy seeing the fabrics you order. That is the hardest decision for me to make. I’m pretty stingy with my stitching money, so I’ll never feel free to order 5 and 6 pieces of linen at a time. Telling color is very hard online. I look at the photo of the pattern and the fabric on which it was stitched and what shows up on my IPad looks so different! I do not have a LSS, so online is the solution. Karen Combs is also very good about showing lots of fabrics and comparing one with another. I’ll look forward to your next video! Carol in Texas

    • @StitchStitchBead
      @StitchStitchBead  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi, Carol! It is tricky buying fabric online but I feel safe with xJuDesign. I figure even if a color is not exactly what I expect, I can find a project for it. And if I spend enough on one order I get free shipping which helps. Thanks for watching! Talk to you again next month! 😊

    Girl, SO much easier than Kreinik! That stuff is the devil. Metal thread, because it's real, is malleable, flexible, and strong - it bends and shapes instead of shredding into a million tiny bits. You're going to find it an absolute revelation after working with Kreinik.
    And thank you - making you cry was definitely not the intention, but you're not alone - reading all the responses made me quite emotional as well. I teared up when I was editing the video and writing the notes, because there were some really moving and thoughtful responses.
    M. Satterthwaite is every kind of awesome and stunning - what is it about the black sampler? They just have so much graphic impact.

    What a great video, thank you for sharing your projects and finishes. They are all beautiful. You finally talked me into a Milk Hill, I got the Ice cream and a tomato to start with. Where do you normally start those? In the middle? I make all my Mom’s meals and she always wants to give me something so I take that and get gift certificates for framing. Of course every sampler I do, she wants but I do some for her as well. Maria is beautiful, you are going to love Hannah Green, she is a beautiful one. I got the PDF for Ann Robertson for she has a conversion for Soie 100.3 and it’s lovely, I was only missing one thread. It would pair nice with the Sampler September one, just saying. Plus it has Algerian eyelets which I love stitching. Your bird is adorable, going to check her shop out. I decided on Dirty Teacup for Florence, it’s a nice linen and I think it will work great. Can’t wait to see your linen. Happy Stitching

    • @StitchStitchBead
      @StitchStitchBead  Před 2 měsíci

      I'm so glad you went ahead and got a couple Mill Hill kits! I hope you love them. Because you're working on a small piece of perforated paper, I think a middle start would make sense just so you're sure you have a good margin all around but I usually start mine in the bottom left corner. But be sure to count across and give yourself a bit of room around the design as the paper softens as you work with it.
      I think you're right about Ann Robertson looking good with the reproduction she released for Sampler September - they would make a great pair! They're both on my wishlist for sure. Thank you so much for sharing, I'm always delighted to hear from viewers. 🥰 Talk to you again next month!

Re: linen storage, I used to store mine just the same as you do. But I ran out of room in the closet for my clothes. Stonehenge is actually quite boring. Stones in the middle of a paddock. Take them to the War Rooms in London. It's amazing. Exactly as it was left at the end of WWII. Go to Oxford.
    My brother is also a motoring journalist who now lives in Italy (Lake Como now. Previously Moderna) as it's a lot more central to the performance car world than Australia. He also moved to spend less time in airports and living out of a suitcase. Does get to drive many prestige vehicles and has raced in both rally and circuit, much to my mother's horror. Does your husband get to drive or just commentate? Michael enjoys the Grand Prix , catching up with friends around the pits and the travel trucks ( home away from home as he calls them with everything that opens and shuts).

      My husband and oldest son are very interested in WWII history so the War Rooms are on our list. We'll have over a week so should have plenty of time to do a little bit of everything.
      Sounds like your brother has quite the life! My husband very infrequently races in low-level series but does get to be around cars and racetracks a lot as he works as either a pit reporter or lead commentator for several different series. He loves it but he is gone a lot! But that just means lots of quiet stitching time for me. 😊 Thank you so much for watching and sharing! Happy stitching!

    The Hogwarts experience in London is definitely worth it for teens (well any age really). If they like to be scared then the London Bridge experience is really good - a highlight for my 12 year old. The Science Museum was the favorite of the Kensington Museum trio (though you have to go to the V&A for the embroidery - also the Royal School of Needlework shop at Hampton Court Palace)
    The Imperial War Museum was also a hit - though that might be a more specialist interest. And the dinosaurs at Crystal Palace Park (Victorian models of what they thought they looked like then).
    We really liked the London wetland Centre (especially the otters) - if anyone is into wildlife.
    We found that the Museum of London had the best immersive exhibitions to appeal to teens.
    The Globe Theatre was an absolute highlight - if the boys are up to going to a play - the comedies are the most accessible - but even the tour gives you a feel of what Shakespeare's theatre was like.
    Hope you have a wonderful trip.

      I prefer 100.3s on 56 ct, yes. Some would suggest Soie Surfine but I like the bolder stitches that 100.3s give you and I find that when a knot unfortunately appears, the 100.3s are much easier to deal with than Soie Surfine. So glad you’re going to try 56 ct! Let me know how you like it! 🥰

      The spooled silk in solid colors is from Au ver a Soie. It is the Soie 100.3. You can purchase it from HoopAndFrame.com or ask your local needlework shop if they carry it. The variegated spooled silk (with the green tag at the top that I used for the Anjou Pear) is from ThreadNuts.com. Hope this helps!
