Wow, I never knew it was Glen Frey who actually played the solo. I would have sworn it was Don Felder. It is so tasteful and refrained and perfect for the song. Great choice and terrific lesson.
Sometimes simple is better - especially when the song is simple and has lots of air....
You’re right, it was definitely Felder. There’s a video of them on CZcams recording it in the studio and Felder is clearly the one playing the solo
@@Sebastian-ri4re They faked it for the video. Glenn actually tracked the guitar and keyboards for the song, it would have been kind of bogus having him do both for the video. 😃

Great Lesson(s)! Finally a tutorial for people who already know how to play. I couls never understand why most lessons assume everyone is a beginner. No I dont need to know the picking pattern, I just need to know how to play the darn song! Genious!
It's nice to see more of The Eagles. I know they are the worst when it comes to copyright claims though. I still haven't been able to figure out how Bernie Leadon plays the way he does in Doolin Dalton/Desperado Reprise. Recommend a listen on that one.

One of my favorite Eagles songs. And for some reason a very satisfying solo to play.
It's a very melodic solo, kind of like how some Santana solos are so soulful and can more easily be sung.

You are such a quality guitar player.. I envy you so much.. I have a friend who's voice is identical to yours and every time we talk you sir come to mind . Thank you for the lessons. I first heard this song as a 16 year old teen I believe the end of 79 or 80-- immediately I had to learn the solo...in those days I had to use a turn table and well you know the average story..after a million 'needle down ..needle up..needle back down'...I soon gave up !! Please stay safe...so glad I found your channel a few years ago !!!

Dear Andy. It was Don Henley who played this one. You Tube video search and on the dvd album Hell freezes over. Thanks for good tutorials
Henley was the Drummer in the band. If you mean Don Felder, he confirmed Frey played the solo on the original recording. Frey also played the Rhodes on the original recording, and he had to do it live probably because nobody else in the band could play the Rhodes part. So for live situations, Felder took the solo.
