- This week I am so excited to finally share with you guys the results of the closet makeover I have been doing for my in-laws. This was such a big project and I didn't realize going into this that the hardest part of this project was going to be after all the building was done. In this final part of the closet makeover. I started off by adding trim to everything in the closet. I did all the clean up work... that took a while. Then I was finally able to prime and paint this space. Once all that work was finally done added handles and rods, and was able to put this closet back together again.
Oh Mailey it's absolutely fabulous. It's been a joy watching this whole project come together. What a difference. It's now a space that anyone would want to spend time in, looks so neat and classy and such an upgrade from what was there before. The amount of work that went into this - yeah you have every right to be proud of what you have accomplished. Heck I'M proud of you and I'm a total stranger!! Bravo Mailey. Seriously. Well done. Now, if you're Ever over in Ireland and you fancy doing all that on a smaller scale (and without a secret door) I will happily dm you my address. Just sayin'

Tiny tip for future projects: after you cut your wood to size, go ahead and sand, prime, and paint it outside before assembly. Yes, you'll still have plenty of spots to patch, sand, etc., but as you saw, you ended up having spots like that anyway.
There are definitely some pieces I wish I would have at least primed. Bu unfortunately I didn’t have the color picked up during the building portion. 🤷🏽♀️ And I definitely sanded all the pieces. The sanding I had to do in closet was all the plaster and pocket hole plug areas! 🥰

The projects that you tackle have advanced so much this is real carpenter stuff now!! This is out of this world beautiful. All the time that was spent on the detail and making sure everything was just so. What are they going to do with the secret room? Will that be storage for out of season clothing? I cannot wait to see what you tackle next!!

And I think they are using the secret room for extra storage for attic type of things. season decor, outdoor camping things stuff like that. I think all the clothes will stay in the closet since they have so much space now. :)

Haha seriously I’m off the hook for a while now! 😂 yes and no to all of the above haha. I did learn how to build in school but not like this. Self taught a lot of it and also learned from my dad! 😬

This is so awesome, and you’re so inspiring. I want to get into building so bad, and you are absolutely giving me loads of faith that it’s something I could do. Did you do any courses or are you self taught? Well done on this closet, i hope your in-laws took you out for the biggest dinner and drinks!
I am mainly self taught but I also used to work in theater and learned how to build from that as well. You definitely do it just start small and work your way up!

1) can i adopt you so you can build a closet for me? 2) when can i come out to wherever you are so i may learn at your feet, oh wise and talented one? 3) i’m drooling! great job, girl! you’re better than most of the guys i know. fyi, when i had to use the space suit to do work in my attic, i only wore underwear because it’s a sauna in there. and adding the paneling to your father in laws side to match your mother in laws side is something i like to call cross pollinating 😅
haha I'l start the paperwork! 😂 and umm anytime but I'm no genius you'd be shock at how these projects come together. and I thought about that under the space suit but I think cuz I was filming it felt weird haha. and I like that term cross pollinating. I'll have to use that!
the paint sprayer looks harder than I thought. Is it hard to hold up the sprayer and spray?
It was bad at all the only difficult part was the tight 10 inch shelves at the top!
