the music on the album was dope but those skits were egotistical as fuck. brent knocks up a girl and essentially seems to ignore this girl but not completely. so he doesn't let her go, but doesn't give her what she wants/needs. brent holds onto this manipulative relationship through his power as a music artist, he holds onto this girl until she eventually tries to kill herself. while threatening to kill herself and her and his baby, the #1 thing on Brent's mind is still himself.
again i thought the music was great but the skits made me not be able to appreciate brent as much again. the guy is a brutal narcissist.
you do realize he’s telling a story right? the protagonist of the album does not necessarily reflect brent exactly as he is. it could be him emphasizing and exploring the idea of being toxic and what that looks like when dealing with immense fame. he isn’t trying to glorify it, the skits work together to show just how much his flaws can hurt those around him. even here he likens the album to a shakespearean tragedy.
It sounds like he’s trying to romantize toxic relationships when really he’s just emphasizing the predicament that’s all too easy to fall into.
Relationships problems aren’t old fashioned.
It was real/raw which makes his artistry top tier but of course you are entitled to your opinion

You wouldn’t look at the writer/director as a narcissist for thinking of a film like that. You don’t call Shakespeare a narcissist for thinking of the plays he thought of. Stop limiting artists.
