I've heard better themes
Hearing this theme leading into my team's game as a kid, got me totally psyched up, especially at the very end.
The golden era of the NFL.
Pat Summerall covering the U.S. Open I presume, hence Verne Lundquist in for him.
Young got credited with the win for starting, but Montana threw the winning TD with under a minute left.
The NFL was way better back then. So were the game intros.

As a Cowboys fan back then, I always loved these types of matchups because I knew one of them was going to lose. Very satisfying.

@@DavidRosenfield That is correct-- that music was played while the main game announcer (Lundquist here) added additional notes about the broadcast and the sides involved in the game, IIRC.
I remember as a niners fan living in DC I didn't see this game because the dead skins was playing at the same time
