you need a deep deep dive into Stevie Wonder's songs He's a musical genius.
Stevie Wonder is on another level. His music was so universal, he opened for the Rolling Stones on their giant 1972 US tour - everyone loved his music. A true genius. His next 3 albums after Talking Book (Innvervisions through Songs in the Key of LIfe) are legendary.
I was at that show in Indianapolis, Ind. It was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Stevie received 2 standing ovations, and when his performance was completed, and the Stones came onstage, you could tell they were thinking, how are we going to best that.
As far as quantity of great songs composed, Stevie Wonder is up there with Paul McCartney. Pick anything from the early 70's and you can't go wrong. Living For The City should blow your mind.
If you do this song ,you MUST do the full album version. The shorter radio version truncates it tragically

You don't have to tell me about CZcams videos. I know the intention of some stupid uploaders, they do nothing good in their lives. There are plenty of facts available to find out for yourself. It is very easy to ridicule those with disability till it hits you.
It’s hard to truly understand the brilliance of Stevie Wonder. Definitely do more of his music. I grew up with it. You will never be disappointed by any of his work.
For the best ever live version of this, look up the video of his performance on Sesame Street. Seriously.
Other Stevie songs - "Living for the City" "Isn't She Lovely" "Sir Duke" "Higher Ground" - basically just throw a dart at his discography and listen to the one it hits.

There is a great documentary called “Hitsville: The Story of Motown”. In it they tell the story of how Stevie Wonder began working with Motown at age 11. That’s why he was originally called Little Stevie Wonder. He was like a sponge and absorbed everything he could from the Motown Band, the Funk Brothers. He quickly learned how to play every instrument and by 14 he was writing hit songs. He is definitely a musical genius. He is so talented and has won dozens of awards and Grammys. Two of his biggest selling albums were Songs In The Key of Life and Talking Book. He is definitely a national treasure. Thank you for this reaction. 👏👏
Thank you for informing others about that documentary. I have watched over and over and it still get chills. Especially when he improvised finger tips at the apollo. Even the band was amazed

Stevie is also a blind singer. He was born prematurely in which caused retinopathy because he was in a incubator that was enriched with too much oxygen which caused his retinal atrophy and they detached.
Stevie Wonder crossed genres from the beginning of his career. He's well loved, and for good reason.
I believe Stevie ray Vaughan does a cover of this song too .
Living For the City is the best second song to react too from Stevie. Also incredible but shows more of a range.
Some of my favorite songs are (in order): Pastime Paradise, Living For the City, Sir Duke, As, I Wish, Higher Ground, Master Blaster, For Once in My Life, My Cherie Amour, Do I Do, Overjoyed, Ribbon in the Sky, Send One Your Love. Like in the beginning of your channel, listen to The Definitive Collection album in it's entirety. You won't regret it.
PLEASE do more Stevie Wonder. I recommend “I Wish” and “ I Just Called to Say I Love You” but literally every song he’s ever made is pure brilliance. ❤

Stevie is amazing, part Little Richard, part Ray Charles, part James Brown with some Sly and the Family stone mixed in. He was unstoppable in the 70s when it came to RnB.
Sad thing to say but if this is the 1st time for him to hear Stevie Wonder he has not heard any of the other artists you mentioned. I count myself fortunate that I grew up listening to these phenomenal artists.
Couldn't have chosen a better Stevie song- it's a masterpiece. If you can't feel this song course through your body, you don't have a soul. He was/is a genius that could play, write and sing everything.
Stevie Wonder - possibly the most underrated musician/singer/songwriter ever. His music is so heartfelt and soulful. He's a national treasure.
You should do "As" by Stevie, he has so many great songs. Anything you listen to will be amazing!

Stevie signed with Motown when he was 11 years old. When he turned 21, he threatened to leave. His terms for staying? He wanted full creative control. No interference from Berry Gordy. Berry finally gave in. Stevie recorded Music on My Mind and from then on he proved that he was right. He became hugely successful with critics and the people, winning tons of awards - Talking Book, Songs in the Key of Life, and Innervisions were his masterpieces.
Stevie Ray Vaughan does a great cover of this as well - Stevie Wonder was one of the greats, blind or not he was a master at his craft and knew how to get the job done, this song was on the radio for YEARS. Music was so much more inventive and cooler back then and viftually no special effects and certainly no auto tune or beat boxes, just pure talent

Rabbit hole. A big one. Stevie is a genius and a groundbreaker. You pretty much can’t miss with anything he did in the 70’s. His roots are deep in 60’s Motown. He played all the instruments on this except the horns. The first 45 single I ever bought was his big hit “Sir Duke,” in about 1977. I was ten years old. I guess I count as a lifetime fan.
The keyboard sound on this song is so iconic.
This is one of Steve's best but most songs of his are masterpieces. " Sir Duke " will floor you.

Many, many, many more hits and great songs by Stevie Wonder. A master. His vocal style has influenced generations of singers, but no one has been able to compare to the master. Probably most people doing those complex vocal runs today don't even know that it came from him. Certainly there were other singer doing those runs, but Stevie was probably the master of that style. This song only touches on that style. Check out other songs by him to discover just what he can do with his voice.
This is a great song from Stevie. He has a fantastic voice. It also is a great dance hit. It's hard to sit still with this music. Those were the days! 🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️

Stevie went to school at the Michigan school for the blind in Lansing Michigan.
Everybody likes Stevie Wonder, he is undeniably great. Growing up in Michigan in the 70's, listening to classic rock FM radio, and yet they would play Stevie Wonder in high rotation, as were all the AM stations. We are very proud of our native son.

There is NO ONE like Stevie. Being from Motown, I grew up in the 60's and 70's idolizing his music. He is revered as a musical genius with good reason.

Back in the late '70's, when I was a preteen and they were popular solo artists, I always wished Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon had done an album together. They play in the same space, with such individual grooves, it could've been amazing.
Everything you hear, other than the horns, is Stevie Wonder. He sang and played multiple keyboard parts, drums and moog bass on this song.

Wonder worked with Jeff Beck on the composition and Beck was originally going to be the one to release this as a single with the group Beck, Bogert and Appice but delays in releasing their album meant that Stevie's version came out first.
His catalogue is incredible. Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours is one of my faves.
I have heard that, in return, Stevie gave Jeff Beck "'Cause We've Ended as Lovers". Pretty cool if true, and a great Beck classic for Salvo to check out.

He's been blind all of his life and was considered the 8th wonder of the world. He was a child prodigy, could play multiple instruments.

Stevie has SO MANY legendary songs! I was lucky to see him in concert a few years ago and - WOW - EVERY song was amazing!
So I think you started off with his very greatest song. But he has several other great songs. My favorite: "Higher Ground" (also covered impressively by Red Hot Chili Peppers), "I Wish", "Sir Duke", "Boogie On Reggae Woman"

As a fun note, when Paul Simon won a Grammy for his album "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" in 1976, he thanked Stevie Wonder for not releasing an album that year. 🤣
You have lived under a rock if you haven't heard any music by Stevie Wonder. One of the most influential musicians of all time a career spanning 6 decades. All his achievements, awards, and multiple hit records are amazing when considering he is blind.

Sir Duke / Masterblaster / Happy Birthday - all worth a listen - and all tributes to other people. Sir Duke to Duke Ellington, Masterblaster to Bob Marley and Happy Birthday to Martin Luther King Jr. Don't think Stevie Wonder has ever made a bad record so stick a pin in his discography and it'll be a belter! His songs have also been covered by a number of artists but George Michael (you'll be blown away!) and Mary J Blige covered the same song (As) both worthy of your time.

This song is up there as one of his top classics. A similar, but less obvious choice, is the incredible "Higher Ground", highly recommended; and "He's Mistra Know It All", both these from his 'Innervisions' album (my favourite). Little Stevie Wonder was the heart and soul of Motown, and then went on to become so much more. A brilliant songwriter, composer, arranger, producer, singer, and musician, a groundbreaking innovator.
Stevie is probably mainly remembered in popular music for the syrupy ear worm ballads he wrote, like "My Cherie Amour," "I Just Called to Say I Love You," "Isn't She Lovely," "Part Time Lover."
The ones I like are the funkier ones, like "Superstition" and "I Wish." Red Hot Chili Peppers did a great and respectful cover of "Higher Ground." And, like Prince, Stevie sometimes wrote for other artists, as he did with "Tell Me Something Good," which was for Chaka Khan, performed by her with Rufus. I remember seeing them perform for a Bob Hope special in '74, and it's on YT.

When Talking Book came out the music world EXPLODED no one had ever heard anything like it. We’ve all loved Stevie even more ever since.
The drum riff for Superstition was Jeff Beck fooling around on a drum kit. Stevie heard it and told him to keep playing while he came up with the keyboard vamp. Jeff also played guitar on it. When Stevie was inducted into the RnR hall of fame, Jeff played guitar live. Check it out on CZcams.
Superstition was the inspiration for the Led Zeppelin's Trampled Underfoot. Superstitions was a great record from my High School days.
