I know that this is just a horror movie but unless you've lived during a time when the police honestly did not provide you protection ✔️, when people in public actually made monkey noises (with no one saying amount in your favor) ✔️, when there were those in town who pushed others in front of you just to trip you up ✔️, where you were laughed at, mocked and shouted at just because you were "the wrong color"✔️?
You cannot understand how real some of this story is -- because some of this story WAS.
This was not "entertainment" for me.
Just something that brought back memories and broke my heart just a little bit 💔 with some of the things some people have experienced (and try to live with forgetting). 😞
I’m so sorry you went through that…I’m black and I can’t even imagine how that would make me feel but I know that I’m very lucky to be living during this time. Racism is still very strong even now, it just plays out differently…though it’s nothing like it was in the past…thank you for being strong enough to make it through those horrible times..because of you and others, we’re able to have the freedom that we do today.

As a person of color, I am thankful that we made it through the 50s, 60s, and 70s, albeit with some casualties along the way (Emmett Till, Martin Luther King, Malcom X, even JFK) and what I was hoping for within my own people was a black utopia where our culture would be ushering in advancements in mathematics and science; along the lines of the fictitous country Wakanda. We would have compassion towards each other and this would be a profitable and enjoyable time for all, showing the best and the brightest.
Instead, I am a black man who is borderline terrified of any young, black male under 30, who might not have been raised with the understanding that violence, crime, and imprisonment should not be heralded, respected, or tolerated. Or, if they do understand that, and choose to ignore those basic human conditions, that is where we differ...even though we look the same.

Ok I want to give my take on this as a black men upon this series. So this series is a black trauma like so many others, which I’m not too fond off. However I did like at the end of the series how the family remained firm and united against the racists and didn’t leave.

Black people were taken from their Homeland in Africa and forced to change their names change the culture and become slaves for white people, end to this day that still could have happened if it wasn't for some of the greatest black Heroes convincing people like Abraham Lincoln to abolish slavery and even they had to cross the Red Sea and back just to get it on his mind.
When when black people were set free from slavery they lived in harsh oppression and some were even forced to go back to the slave masters looking for work with very little to no pay like slavery all over again, and when black people started Marching for civil rights we were told that we had to go back to Africa as if they had a choice in Coming to America in the first place and even organizations like the KKK tried methods of killing all black people and were even allowed to get away with it by the police force who were also part of the Klan.
We were not given the same rights, discriminated against the police force even police officers were black themselves, hundreds of black kids are shot every day the white people prefer to pay attention when one of their own got taken down, and worst of all white people have more privilege in luxury than black people do
For example in South Africa there is a thing as an all white town .... in Africa of all places which makes me even more mad to think that white people would embarrass Africa like this by building your own reserved for people who look like them only meanwhile black people throughout the world don't have that kind of luxury, like to me the question was why is it when white people are a little pushed they get to have all the benefits but when black people are facing hardships we have to deal with it and I'm not saying that other races or ethnicities have it easy if anything they might have it just as hard as black people but I feel that black people throughout the years have had it the hardest Shone through history at least
