@@trishtreagus Yeah wasn’t bad. I had made some longer crossbars out of some wood because I used the factory crossbars with the kayak J brackets and it’s on top of a Toyota sienna van, so it would be very hard to do the straps because it kept falling down off the top of the J hooks and it’s up high. I guess I could’ve attach them there somehow, but I like the straps to be able to move around some. Plus if I mount the kayaks flat, I t’s a little bit easier to get to things and load them. Much easier to toss the straps over the kayaks when they’re flat. Thanks!

Hi Mfreih 😊 This video was a demonstration for a product that Colin made at the request of a few local customers (discontinued).
He has built a rack extension, which sits on top of the roof racks to allow for the transport of two kayaks at a time. They are padded to avoid damage to the kayaks in transit and they have a few pieces underneath to allow it to sit more securely on top of the roof racks. Colin uses four sets of cable ties to secure the kayaks to the roof racks. The cable ties are fed under the roof rack at the centre, hook over the kayaks and are secured under the roof rack on the other side. He secures one kayak at first and then repeats on the other side, and at the end double checks that both kayaks are secure and won't move around while driving. If you want more detail about how you can do this, shoot an email over to info@kayakcentralcoast.com.au and I'm sure Trish or Colin will get back to you as soon as they can!

If the intent is to SHOW how to secure kayaks to a roof rack, then this video fails. If the intent is to win in a kayak securing competition for the fastest, time then well you won.
