The Air Plant-arium Terrarium Build

- Yes it's going to have a muddy wall. Yes it's going to have moss. What's different about this build is the centerpiece...the spotlight is going to be airplants. I know a lot about houseplants, but very little about airplants and for this terrarium I wanted to build something a little unique. Something a little more prehistoric and I think the airplants fit the bill quite perfectly.

Easier way than using the clay… use the silicone on the sides. Take your substrate and press it into the silicone. I’m in the process of building a vivarium. I just great stuff’d the whole thing and carved it/sanded it. Next is silicone and sub to cover the great stuff. Takes a long time to do a 40 breeder but it looks sooooooooo cool already!

Mah Dude, you missed a golden opportunity for the sped up sawing bit lol. I do a lot of hand tool wood working I feel your pain on it, without proper clamps or a vise it is maddening.
I just don't like sawing i've decided haha.
Having your camera closer to what you are doing would give us a much better view of the actual process of what you are doing
Ya my video skills have gotten a little better and these days I tend to use two cameras. One further and one that I hold in my hand for up close. I've got more terrariums builds planned soon!
Where do you get your moss from? I've been trying to find somewhere to get feather moss for a while!
I get all my live stuff generally from Etsy. It seems to be the place that all the small biz people selling weird stuff like moss and plants live. And you have direct access to talking with them so its a really valuable resource. I got my feather moss from a place called ReignOfTerraStudios on Etsy. Hope it helps!

What was the mud you used?
It is natural modeling clay mixed with peat moss and water. Still holding up.

I’ll be honest, I thought you were going to die sawing that wood with that nasty old saw. Hell of a way to go building an air plant Airuarium and all. 🪴 Please, for your families sake, buy a new saw and a vice.
