As a Korean War Vet pursuing my career and raising a family, I watched the War you so valiantly fought, I was shocked and angered by the reception you got when you returned home safely. We Korean vets came home as those who fought a "Forgotten War". At least we weren't spat on. Now we are receiving honors and blessings, and a sincere attempt to understand the Korean conflict. And to honor the 36,000 who gave their all . To all you Vietnam Vets, thank you for your service and have a wonderful life.

It was a national disgrace how many of our Vietnam vets were treated when they returned home. It's heartwarming to see those now trying to correct the egregious errors of the past as it is LONG overdue. God bless these vets for their service and thank you!

And they participated willingly in the national disgrace of Vietnam. A lot of innocent people died b/c of their involvement. And don't say many of them had "no other choice" b/c of the Draft. I'm a Draft/Vietnam resistor...I always had a choice.

the Vietnam war ended when I was in high school. But for a lot of the soldiers, the war continued at home. It;s wonderful to see them finally being honored and thanked for their bravery and service! As a former Honor Flight guardian, I can tell you how special , emotional , and healing these flights are!

I have been friends with many Vietnam Veterans. I have lost almost all of them in the past 5 years. Robert Wooley, William Appleford who helped a lot when my father another Veteran passed. I was very close with my grandfather who was a disabled Veteran from WW2. All of these people mean a great deal to me. We may never meet but my respect for you is deep and solid. As a Desert Storm Veteran I must say, God bless the USA!

I 'read' hats looking for military insignia and stop any I see to say Thank you for all You gave and shake their hands. RecentlyI met a couple in a store, shook his hand and thanked them both. We talked a few minutes and he remarked that he just recently
felt like wearing his military hat again, and that I was just the 2nd person to thank him! How sad!

Being from the UK we were never(with a few exceptions) in Vietnam, all I can say, with the utmost respect, is There but for the grace of God go I. I had the honour of talking to a vet whilst on holiday in Florida and I could see the hurt that was still in his eyes, and it WAS an honour to speak with him.

Way back in ‘82 I was traveling through DFW airport on my way to Ft Hood. A man walked up and placed a beer in front of me. He said that he was a Vietnam vet, and that how they were treated will never happen again. I try to carry this on.
    Story #2...
My dog is a Doberman. A sweet dog, loves everyone. We were in Lowes and she had her “pet me” vest in. A man several aisles away waved at us. He knelt down and hugged my dog, and he was crying. He explained that he was a Marine in Vietnam and that they had a Doberman in his unit. The dog saved them from ambushes and such.

Even though I have no one in my family who is a Vietnam veteran, I still feel bad for everything they went through. I read the history, I've seen the films and I had a Vietnam veteran JROTC instructor. I feel honored to have known a man who gave so much and received little and went through so much like this man. To all the veterans out there THANK YOU!

I was in JROTC too when I was in high school. All 3 of my instructors were retired Army veterans and they all served in Vietnam. One of my instructors who was a CSM served in the 4th Inf. Div and is a double recipient of the Purple Heart. My SAI was a retired major who served in the 9th Inf. Div. and was a PH recipient.

I understand now those flights also include veterans who didn’t go to Viet Nam, but were given the National Defense Medal for having served in time of war during a specific time frame.

So glad to see an honor flight for our Nam vets. All I can add is a very, very, very, long overdue WELCOME HOME to all of them. I had the good fortune to work with many Nam vets when I was in, one guy was Korea & Nam. They were all a great group of people and I feel fortunate to have worked with them & learned from them. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!

For many years, here in Australia, Vietnam veterans were not allowed to participate in our ANZAC Day services... a few years ago, that changed... I recall watching the ANZAC Day parade on the day they were first allowed to march...I sat there in tears... It was...finally... Welcome home.

My old man was proud that he was finally able to march with some of the 'boys' at his local RSA. I'm proud that he and many of my elders served in most theatres of conflicts from WWI to Nam...

A friend of mine, combat medic who served with my Brigade in VN, we never met until we were both talking to the same counselor. He received a letter from the American Legion telling him not to try to join. This tells you the power of the press. They lied about the war and they lied about us. After world WW-II defense attorneys in the US would use service in the war to get their client acquitted. Prosecuting attorneys would use VN service to get convictions. Now since the "news" is not infiltrated or controlled by Islam, yet, people killing enemies for liberty are seen as heros. But our leftist press would tell us we lost in VN even when we won big time like in Tet 68. Power of the press to deceive and destroy.. So people need to take everything they see on TV or read in the papers with a huge dose of skepticism. Anyway to all my brother vets, welcome back. To those who did not live to see this RIP brothers. I lost another in February...

Nils Skudaarkaat Keep you head held high mate!! When ever our countries (NZ and Aus) celebrate ANZAC Day, my old man and his mates would sit around in the backyard while 'us' kids cook a feed on the BBQ and listen to the diggers talk about the hell they caused. Both for the enemy and more so for their CO's!! But each year more and more of them are passing on......
We who remain shall never forget their sacrifices for our freedom.....
      AMEN

I'm an American Vietnam Veteran (101st ABN) who lives in Sydney. Mate I've marched since 1989 on ANZAC day. Sadly my Australian friends I used to meet up for a drink afterwards have passed away. All but one from Cancer. Now I have problems walking and can't take part. Without my mates, I really have no reason too. Those guys were so lucky to have the Honor Flight... when the US DVA personnel end their telephone conversation with me, they usually say; "Thank you for your service". Sorry but it's too little, too late! Least We Forget! I haven't.

I stood above the Wall at the flag post for about 20 minutes before I could make the final distance to see my friends. If you get the chance to see what Jan Scruggs did for us all....... you'll see.

Never EVER blame the actual people who are the boots on the ground. As a Canadian I've always been in awe in how Americans returning from harsh severe service were treated.... I have a Canadian great uncle who served in Korea and really slugged it out with American forces and it pisses me off to no end how most Canadians try to remain so liberal and ndp that we weren't there. these men and women do the bidding of millionaire politicians who live a life safe and sound at home but die in the nastiest ways imaginable..... NEVER EVER BLAME THE SOLDIERS... THEY JUST TRIED THEIR BEST AND TRIED TO GET HOME ALIVE. BLAME YOUR GOVERNMENTS!!!!!!

I was wondering when the time was gonna come, if ever, for an honor flight for Nam vets. I know the WW2 tigers had it rough, but let me say that the Nam was no picnic. I spent almost a year in the hospital recovering from wounds. I'm still picking out the shrapnel.

I was in Vietnam in 69-70 and came (too) back to a very ambivalent public. I get thanks NOW from many, some very young asking about it, and others when they see my hat. I believe the Afghanistan veterans probably receive the same ambivalence coming back to our very ungrateful younger people who do not understand the concept of working or ethics. I have been in Washington DC and saw the wall and the womens Vets memorial. Too late for all of us. Now that we are very old.

Bush hasn't been President since January 20th, 2009. And Bush didn't pass Obamacare. Also, Bush never suggested that US troops help al Qaeda rebels in Syria. Bush had his share of mistakes and problems, and certainly wasn't a great President by any means, but blaming Bush for the acts of the current President is awfully silly.
