If you couldn't sand blast old Frankie you could have given him a high powered pressure washing. I did that to my house a few years ago and what a difference it made especially on the front and back decks. It was unpainted/stained pressure boards. I never realized how dirty it was. It was built in 2010 i moved in there in 2018. The pressure wash came just before Covid. Now get back to work and keep Little Miss Muffet happy. LOL.
Proud to be one of the 200. 😅 Body work is a labor of love and makes up the majority of the cost of a professional paint job. Frank is going to be working truck, like The Blue Truck, right? It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be functional.

With all the work you did sanding, make it as nice of a paint job as you can. A soft wire wheel on an angle grinder will work to clean up around the rivets.

@@1ChadKeegan That balancing act you did on the upper front is very impressive. Are you going with a single stage with hardener? Those darn rivets on my Freight Shaker were a pain when I sanded it also.
@@billtodd6509 yes that’s the plan the single stage I feel it will be easier to do but unfortunately it’s gonna have some orange peel probably but I guess we’ll see what happens when the time comes.
If I may say so myself, with just the primer Frank looks like an Ol Skewl Hot Rod 🤟🏼🤠. I seen a hot rod a few years ago that was done ✅ with just primer and the gentleman put a mat clear coat over it and talk about BAD A$$

Great Job! Doing that stuff sucks! We painted all our own stuff, sanding sucks, then smelling that crap, you would walk around in a daze! Still have all my dads paint guns, been thinking about repainting one of my antique trucks, but like you said, it's a lot of work😬. Reducer is your friend! They give you a guide line on how much to use at temps and humidity.. Yet. In a outside setting? who knows. If it splattering you need to stop and pour your pot of primer back into mixing pale. Add more reducer and mix. Take laquer thinner and douche out cup and pull material jet and clean. Clean cap nozzle. Takes a few seconds. Drink a beer. Strain and pour into cup and get back at it.
Looks great, I’m no body man but to remove that roughness I’d just use those red 3M scuff pads lightly without going through the primer to smooth it out and shoot it whatever color you want

I want to eventually get rid of plastic bumpers and put real chrome steel truck 🛻 bumpers and the front bumper has a Baja off-road frame on it and eventually get the ding out of the passenger side fender. 🙂

Chad if you do not want the primer on that thick get pale of soapy water and some 600 grit sandpaper and lightly go over it with a sanding block and it will help get rid of some of that and the runs. Either way your overhead cost are probably much less than a lot of peoples. Just remember a GOOD LOOKING BALANCE SHEET IS A LOT MORE IMPORTANT TO A BANK WHEN YOU NEED A LOAN VERSUS A BEAUTIFUL EXPENSIVE TRUCK. Body work is expensive and takes a lot time but you will get better the more you do it. You can buy a pretty good air gun at NAPA for around $100.00. I have used farm equipment paint on some of my trucks, much lower priced. Just joking about JOHN DEERE green thought it would look prettty radical.

I have been waiting for a new update on Frank. The salem paint scheme (Bj and the Bear) is overdone. Some very cool groovy music! Looking at the Miller Lite cases in the windows, you should use blue, red ang gold. Tribute to Miller Lite. Looks good!
I know that you don't want to spend any more time, money, etc on it, but man it will look so nice if you spend the time, and money at least on body filler. I always say, do it to the best of your abilities.
When you spray it outside keep in mind humidity,moisture in air,do not spray high noon 2 to 4 pm giving your paint time to dry before sun goes down,I sprayed my chevy 1978 later in evening dew set in on it turned my paint colors so u had to respray,and yes you can clean harbor freight guns,get combo kit ,small gun is your primer gun ,larger one is your finish gun set up is key on those guns,pressure behind gun and have evaporator water separator on air line so moisture not getting in gun..I used a pressure regulator at gun so it was constant air pressure.not professional but from my experiences and work I have done in past N I C coatings it can be done ,have fun your videos is good enjoy watching them ,at end of the day as long as your happy with it ,that's all that matters,get a cardboard piece and dial in cup gun before you spray is what I would do ,that's your choice though .good luck never mind me buddy I watch regardless good or bad need any help ,I would give ya hand ,on ohio river st marys west virginia..off on rotator cuff surgery.

To fix those spots around the rivets, you’d likely just have to get some spot filler and apply a coat to level it back up before spraying some primer.
