This CO2 Generator kit is made of two bottles of pressurized soft drinks (Sprite). Each contains 1.5 liters but can also use bottles with a volume of 2 liters or more.
Each bottle contains different liquid. The first bottle contains mixture of water and citric acid, the second bottle contains mixture of water and baking soda.
When the two liquids are mixed, a chemical reaction will occur and produce carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. This gas is used for aquasacpe plants in water.
The materials needed to make DIY CO2 are:
1. Two bottles of soft drink pressurized with a volume of 1.5 liters.
2. Pressurized 6 mm plastic hose.
3. Y or L - hose connector.
4. L - hose connector.
5. Two molded bottle top with tube retainers.
6. Needle Valve.
7. Check Valve.
8. Bubble Counter.
9. Co2 Diffuser.
10. Water (400 ml for citric acid, 200 ml for baking soda).
11. 200 gram citric acid.
12. 200 gram baking soda.
This system can produce Co2 for 7-10 days depending on the number of bubbles that come out.
NOTE:
Correction: At 5:07 minutes should be 200 ml of water
Although Co2 is good for aquascape plants, but if too much it will have a negative impact on fish and other animals that do not need Co2. Therefore Co2 expenditure must be adjusted based on needs.

This is such a money saver and I absolutely love the diy system but I find my citric acid is draining into the baking soda solution too fast and is gone within 2 days! I try to find the perfect spot with the valve to create backlog but not too much....and it still happens....any ideas?

Wait.. in some other tutorials, we need to build up the pressure until about 1.5kg/cm³ before can connect the diffuser and release into aquarium. But it seems u didn't have to. Does this help to make the CO2 supply longer? 🤔 mine finished in just 4 days 😔
For mix baking soda you wrong write its that 200ml water not 20ML......

If with vinegar I mix it with water with 1: 1 ratio. That's just my experience.

i did that but after i wake up all ctric acid was in soda bottle and ctric acid bottle was empty what i have to do ? to won't happen this again?

@@gaganjotsingh3403 not sure if mine has a leak in the needlevalve.. I closed mine but to my surprise the pressure is still coming out so my citric acid was used up in a day too..

You can use egg shell with vinegar. The result fluid will be PH neutral calcium solution.
Klo citrun kluarnya dri sambungan T gmn jd gk turun langsung kna sodanya alhasil reaksi jd lambat..
Saya sudah coba tanpa "T". Hasilnya lebih bagus pake sambungan "T" karena cairan citrun akan bergerak cepat ke botol yang beisi baking soda karena tanpa tekanan air. Kalau masalah reaksi masih normal bahkan bisa tetap sampai habis di botol yang berisi citrun. Itu hanya pengalaman saya aja. Makasih ya.... :)

What capacity are these bottles? Can you give the proportions of ingredients for one liter bottles?
Those are 1.5L soda bottles. They're built to hold pressure.
Proportion are; bottle #1 - 200g citric acid + 600ml water. Bottle #2 - 200g soda bicarbonate + 200ml water.

@@d.r8892 i did make my own diy co2 system using 2 soda bottles(sugar n yeast) and lil bit of silicone gel to plug the holes and some airline tubing with checkvallves and a glass diffuser.. if you want to see the system i can post picture in my profile..but if you are asking if you can use sugar and yeast with this system ,yes offcourse you can
how to control the pressure if too much gas produced?
My c02 gen. kit came with an "acid absorbing ball". Its a magnetic ball that you place in the acid solution (first bottle) as well as a magnet outside the bottle to raise the tube from the solution, thus stopping the reaction. There wasn't one used in the video. Hope this helps.
I think the pressure relay can be used, to stop solenoid valve since pressure raises too high. example let the system work during pressure within range 0-1.5 bar, other wise solenoid valve will prevent acid flow to soda bottle

Hi, I installed this system 1 week ago. I tried to adjust the number of bubbles today, I opened the valve too much. After that, all the liquid in the citric acid bottle flowed into the carbonate bottle. Is there a way to prevent this?

How do you stop the cO2 at night so you don't gas your fish and kill them?... and not waste co2 because plants will not use carbon dioxide at night.
