So happy I met Chuck before he died. During the "Spiritual Healing" tour, I met him, shook his hand, told him how fucking awesome he was. Got his signature on my "Spiritual Healing" CD. He was an incredibly humble, friendly, nice guy. Thanks, Chuck.
Alex x bg death metal has way more talent then thrash has 😂😂😂 90% of death metal is great, if not greater, thrash is a gateway genre to most long time metalheads anyways 😂😂
LYRICS: Built from blind faith Passed down from self-induced fantasy Turn a page to justify Conjuring power - it opens wide On your seventh day, is that how it's done? Twisting your eyes to perceive all that you want To assume from ignorance Inflicting wounds with your cross-turned dagger [Chorus:] Inside crystal mountain Evil takes its form Inside crystal mountain Commandments are reborn All the traps are set to confine All who get in the way of the divine In sight and in mind of the hypocrite A slave to the curse forever confined Shatter the myth Don't cut yourself On your words against dreams made of steel Stronger than any faith That inflicts pain and fear, is that how it's done? Twisting your eyes to perceive all that you want To assume from ignorance Inflicting wounds with your cross-turned dagger
Man, Chuck was incredible. The first concert I ever went to was Death, maybe 25 years ago, along with a band called Devastation. It was right after Spiritual Healing came out, I was about 15 at the time. We managed to go because my older friend has gotten his driver's license and we drove up to West Palm Beach. I shook Chuck's hand after the show. Can't really say I "met" him, I was just standing in a group of people he greeted and shook hands with. The Spiritual Healing album was life changing for me at the time, as I was just learning the guitar then. I really should go back and listen to Death (and other music that inspired me early on) more often. Everything I've read about him since then proves what I thought at the time, that he was a super cool guy. I wish he was still around.
Will there ever be a band as incredible as the death line up on symbolic...the most iconic lyrical content, drum playing, riff writing, solo playing, bass lines (aside from indvidual thought patterns) in the history of any music ive heard. death was truly a gift to the human race. ive been listening everyday and can play most of their songs and i still get chills EVERYTIME
This is the golden era of Death my friend, similar to the Rust In Peace Lineup of Megadeth. They were untouchable and ascended into LEGENDARY TIER!!! Sometimes you just come together and create something EPIC that can never be matched by anything that comes after hence why Chuck ended this Album with Perennial Quest an unquenchable thirst for perfection!!
Right there with you, I loved the big 4 , Testament, Exodus, and Maiden, and for some reason just kinda blew off Death, probably vocals turned me away at the time. Now though, I love it, a total pleasure to get caught up with this legendary band and now definitely one of my favorite.
Human and Individual Thoughts Patterns dude. Beginning from Human onward, every album was a metal masterpiece. Chuck was absolutely a poet, philosopher and a beautiful human being. December 13th is always a sad day for me.
I love Death with all my metal-heart! They must be one of the best bands that have ever existed! Schuldiner was really one of the best musicians of our time... I can't explain how sad i am to know that we lost such a great songwriter, performer and human being at such a young age. I would have loved to see him playing live... to bad that i was born way to late for that. Life goes on, and their music will be with me until i die! peace out!
I'm new in metal and for a few years i've been listening to new bands and death is just amazing... Now i understand why metalheads say the run in a league of their own... I love arch enemy but this is a masterpiece... Dunno how no one told me about metal when i was a kid... Feels like my childhood was wasted
I was always impressed by how well the clean guitars flirted with the distortion through the whole song and how creative the drum patterns they used are. a genius work.
had a friend show me this song over 15 years ago.. a year later I learned it on drums and guitar, jammed with a band. became a metal head ever since.. thanks Kevin wherever you are
I think this is one of, if not the first, death metal songs I've heard, and the first I've heard by Death, one of the greatest bands ever! R.I.P Chuck Shuldiner
***** "tourette's", "Very Ape", "Negative Creep", and "Territorial Pissings" were definitely grindcore. But majority of Nirvana songs were death metal.
lol Im 37 now and still will come back to Death, what an amazing band RIP chuck, you will always be a god, fucking amazing music, every album.Metal salutes Death no question.
Having such talent for music that transcends the vast VAST majority of musicians and contribution that much to music that you basicly lay most of the foundation for a whole new main genre in metal... damn im my eyes Chuck is immortal.
I love Chuck's voice on TSOP, it's like an angel screaming down from the heavens. That being said, Death predates Fear Factory by about four or five years and just barely edging out Dark Tranquility by a year (that is if you count the Septic Broiler demos).
I agree. It's my favorite Death album (Mind you I love every single one of them.) I'm wearing my Death shirt with this album art on it right now actually!
@Maria90578 Agreed. That part is a total eargasm. With that being said, the entire song is an eargasm all on it's own. And for that matter, EVERY Death song from Symbolic, Spiritual Healing, Human, and Individual Thought Patterns are AMAZING.
Apple Music used to have a little thing called “Death Metal Radio”. And that’s when I discovered Death and Cannibal Corpse. I was 9. Unfortunately Death Metal Radio isn’t there anymore. I am sad.
I played this song on guitar at my school talent show last month. Surprisingly the crowd seemed to enjoy it
That's the power of Chuck Schuldiner

So happy I met Chuck before he died. During the "Spiritual Healing" tour, I met him, shook his hand, told him how fucking awesome he was. Got his signature on my "Spiritual Healing" CD. He was an incredibly humble, friendly, nice guy.
Thanks, Chuck.
Bro i hope u still keep the cd
I meet him after he died..😂
Best part 00:00 to 05:10
bro nice pic lol
my profile pic or whatever is the same pic. it's not showing up for me tho?
is ur name in reference to Slipknot and MCR, not judging cuz i started there too
+Ian Aberbach lol when I made this profile I was pretty into mcr and slipknot. not ashamed to say I still listen to mcr rarely lpl
ik dude i occasionally peep it, the fans r gross but the guys made great music nothing as good as death obviously
i know most people wouldn't describe music like metal beautiful, but goddamn this whole album is just BEAUTIFUL.
What a beautiful comment
Plus Richard cristy on drums is the funniest dude on the planet. Look up his prank calls, thank me later
One of the best metal records ever made
Yeah Symbolic was pretty dank
Absolutely! One of those albums that's still absolutely awesome 20 years after it was released!
Changolion I think most critics agree that ITP, Symbolic and TSOP are three of the best metal/extreme metal albums ever made.
+Changolion THE best metal record although Human isn't far behind
Along with Left Hand Path by Entombed.
Always avoided death metal, thought it was too extreme so I stuck to thrash. Never knew what I was missing!
Alex x bg death metal has way more talent then thrash has 😂😂😂 90% of death metal is great, if not greater, thrash is a gateway genre to most long time metalheads anyways 😂😂
@@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa4956 true
I no longer agree with my opinion
@@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa4956 haha
Death is basically prog-thrash with rougher vocals.
LYRICS:
Built from blind faith
Passed down from self-induced fantasy
Turn a page to justify
Conjuring power - it opens wide
On your seventh day,
is that how it's done?
Twisting your eyes to perceive
all that you want
To assume from ignorance
Inflicting wounds with your
cross-turned dagger
[Chorus:]
Inside crystal mountain
Evil takes its form
Inside crystal mountain
Commandments are reborn
All the traps are set to confine
All who get in the way of the divine
In sight and in mind of the hypocrite
A slave to the curse forever confined
Shatter the myth
Don't cut yourself
On your words against
dreams made of steel
Stronger than any faith
That inflicts pain and fear,
is that how it's done?
Twisting your eyes to perceive
all that you want
To assume from ignorance
Inflicting wounds with your
cross-turned dagger
A slave to the curse, forever confined!!
Unironically think this is one of the greatest songs written in the past century. Its just, perfect
Damnn Chuck really put forth a lot of love in this song
Chuck [ Death Metal Prophet ] 🤘🤘
Chuck's lyrics are some of the most well thought out in my opinion.
Hypocrisy, deceit, philosophy, and much more.
Death is like the Pink Floyd of Death metal
Do you remember when
Things seemed so eternal?
But the legacy of Chuck remains strong.
Isn't that lyric from symbolic though?

Yes you are spot on , Easily the Best Death/Thrash Band Of All time .
Absolutely
Check out Magma ;)

this is one of my new favorite metal songs. Can't belive how into metal i was as kid and didn't listen to Death
Same here. And Death is also for me one of those metal bands I feel that I discovered way too late in my life!
Right there with you, I loved the big 4 , Testament, Exodus, and Maiden, and for some reason just kinda blew off Death, probably vocals turned me away at the time. Now though, I love it, a total pleasure to get caught up with this legendary band and now definitely one of my favorite.
what an awesome band, its not just mindless blasting, there is a clear message in all chucks songs
Best album with The sound of Perseverance
Perseverance is better
Spiritual Healing and Leprosy...
bloody gore and leprosy
Human and Individual Thoughts Patterns dude. Beginning from Human onward, every album was a metal masterpiece. Chuck was absolutely a poet, philosopher and a beautiful human being. December 13th is always a sad day for me.
Every Death Album is great I cannot choose which is better.
This and Individual Thought Patterns are my favorite albums. Gene Hoglan is a monster

Love this cd. Chuck will be forever immortalized thru his amazing music. That will never die along with his memory. R.I.P.
+Scott Clements Still sounds as current today to me as when I first heard it 20 years ago.
Fav track on the album. Absolutely phenomenal.
I agree this is one of the best tech death metal albums ever made.
+Myth Plays Eh, those two terms are pretty much interchangeable.
This predates tech death
necrophagist-epitaph and luciferion-the apostate
3:07 "Stronger than anime"
Toukkajumala i cant unhear it now :(
I'm new in metal and for a few years i've been listening to new bands and death is just amazing... Now i understand why metalheads say the run in a league of their own... Flavio Marques well by now you are probably not new to metal, but thats great \m/
Listen to Vektor. The best metal band of our decade by far
Metal is one of many genres in which is heavily overlooked by many.
I was always impressed by how well the clean guitars flirted with the distortion through the whole song and how creative the drum patterns they used are. a genius work.
had a friend show me this song over 15 years ago.. a year later I learned it on drums and guitar, jammed with a band. became a metal head ever since.. thanks Kevin wherever you are
Assolutamente immenso, sicuramente uno dei dischi fondamentali del death metal.
I think this is one of, if not the first, death metal songs I've heard, and the first I've heard by Death, one of the greatest bands ever! R.I.P Chuck Shuldiner
***** This is the first song I've heard, but I've listened to their albums Leprosy, Spiritual Healing, Human, and The Sound of Perseverance.
ugh, listen to "Heart-Shaped Box" it's a much better death metal song.
TheSmashingTesticles As in, like, death causing? Yeah, Nirvana will do that to some people.
*****
"tourette's", "Very Ape", "Negative Creep", and "Territorial Pissings" were definitely grindcore. But majority of Nirvana songs were death metal.
+TheSmashingTesticles Why do I keep finding you on random videos bashing Nirvana in the comment section lol?
This album no lie, gave my life purpose and light again. rip Chuck your music and legacy is "stronger than anything."

There will never be anyone close to Death. One of a kind; the voice, the lyrics, the music! You kick ass Chuck!!

This is my favorite Death song it just sounds Majestic in the way its written like it came from some secret scroll just has always moved me.
death is such a sick band. I wish I had been born early enough to exprience them live!
Una vez que oyes esos riffs se apoderan de todo tu ser. No hay manera de sacarlos de tu mente! ☠️
chuck did not die. the reaper made a mistake and thought he died but chuck killed the reaper and stole his job.

Is it ok to have tears swell up with such baddassery god I love death!!!
Yes, it is.
The sound of perfection
I'm floored..Chuck's words...I feel...RIP dear Chuck

👬
🙌
Those heavily phased accenting riffs that slot themselves in between the rhythm guitar, so fucking satisfying to the ears.
Death just never fails to make my day better
I love many Death's songs, but this one has been my preferred for several years back when it got released.
Best band band ever.
I just keep coming back to these guys. Freaken awesome!!

This music is the stuff that everyone would get pumped up to listen to. Good music.
One of the best metal songs ever, period
Too good to be real.
I love Chuck's voice on TSOP, it's like an angel screaming down from the heavens. That being said, Death predates Fear Factory by about four or five years and just barely edging out Dark Tranquility by a year (that is if you count the Septic Broiler demos).
First time hearing anything from this album, sounds amazing!
Dude, me too, and the bass on Flattening of emotions seeps through the guitar and it trips me out.
Just added this to my "Metal Detector" collection.
Que clase!!! este album es de lo mejor que hay en el metal
one of my all time favorite metal tracks
Maestros del metal, definitivamente

I like this a lot!
Very melodic, unlike some other death metals I've listened.
Dude, Death was the pioneer of Death Metal, the creator, The Messiah of the genre.
SOO AMAZING !!
INSIDE CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN
Clever. Very clever.

Chuck was a cool dude.

THE BEST BAND THAT HAS EVER EXISTED
Apple Music used to have a little thing called “Death Metal Radio”. And that’s when I discovered Death and Cannibal Corpse. I was 9. Unfortunately Death Metal Radio isn’t there anymore. I am sad.
Love Cannibal Corpse
