Frog is such a banger character that Connor immediately liked him only based on his design. He's probably one of if not my favorite Toriyama design.
I kinda like Robo's design more but I much prefer Frog as a character, he's probably got the best character arc of any of the main characters.
Over goku is crazy work ngl
Connor's voice for Frog is on point.
@@moosesues8887 I don't really like any dragon ball designs that much besides piccolo, who is probably the best original design Toriyama has ever made, so original and inspired that nobody can even reference it without it being extremely obvious.
@@oriondourden Connor uses that voice for nearly everything..
Connor's JRPG character development over the past few years has been a sight to behold, truly.
Who knew the FPS guy who skipped every cutscene in Halo 3 would then become the guy playing Chrono Trigger and reading every lore entry and Fear and Hunger?
I believe Fear and Hunger make him more engaged in game story.
In his defense he did mentioned several times that he likes the Halo's story
Stan in south park becoming increasingly addicted to board games has that same energy
1:25:27
Old habits die hard….
(I know that Connor was tired, but still.)
Well, he still skips some dialogues without reading it, sometimes he's too fast and doesn't see it's a choice and he chooses by accident. But overall it remains a tremendous improvement yeah, I'm really glad he did most of the sidequests (well, they are near mandatory anyway, as he would have been obliterated by the final boss otherwise). His run of CT is pretty good, I think he explored the game better than he did for FF9 (in which he missed truly neat stuff).
Connor liking jrpg's
Joey watching arcane
Grant watches fmab
The world is healing
If Joey actually ever watches/finishes arcane, he is just gonna hate on it anyways.
@@Sirmugen100good, its overrated as hell
_incorrect buzzer sound_@@lament22
@@user-vf2gm7dc5t It is overrated and the new season will probably be less liked than the first one, netflix will fumble it sooner or later
@@caratrevoso3347 cope harder lol
I love that he did EVERYTHING wrong to be found guilty at the trial lol. It is a moral check
kinda its a subversion as in JRPG's back then it wouldn't of mattered they wanted to make the world feel like it was more real and like your choices mattered
@@imalittletoxicjustalittle really it doesn’t matter the plot doesn’t change
@@BrettHenry It doesn't affect the plot, but it does affect what items you can get in your jail cell.
@@Dragonite43 Which is the only thing that matters.
New dialogue? Boring
New items? Real shit.
@@SollowP god, gamers really do hate reading.
Everyone before playing CT: C'mon, it's almost 30 years old. It can't hold up THAT well.
Everyone after playing CT: I would lay my life down for Frog.
UNDERRATED COMMENT
I lay down my life for the entire game. It is truly the Dream Project.
I didn't play it until I was passed 30. I hadn't avoided it but I never got around to it when I was younger. Had expectations of "I can see why this is loved but it's definitely the template that's been improved on" and it just wasn't. It felt fresh and fantastic even after years of having played JRPGs.
It's just ok, it's not the greatest JRPG everyone says it is
@@iAmPimmiCue ok
Babe wake up, new British Ludwig JRPG playthrough just dropped.
Ah good morning honey. Let's cuddle up and watch together ❤
@@jennydaninjadamn why did that give me dopamine I need help 🫠
@@4nubisjdb562 looool idk
@4nubisjdb562 It's okay man. We know why and it's alright. We all just want some companionship out here. Let's all hang and enjoy this loud British man enjoy the game.
You mean Ludwigs boyfriend right?
I love how the fair actually has impact later on, even the smallest decisions matter
luccas mother in the ending able to walk is such a neat detail
I love how he immediately notices the similarities between Robo’s theme and Rickroll. He should listen to Roboroll at some point.
In the spirit of Akira Toriyama, I'd love to see how you'd react to Dragon Quest. The foundation of the series is build upon Akira Toriyama's character design, and its known as the father series of JRPGs, even predating Final Fantasy. Alas, its massively overlooked in the west, as FF was specifically marketed for the west. Its a shame its not recognized as much as FF in America, though its seemingly revered in Japan. But, that's enough background; I'd love if you'd consider a Dragon Quest game in the future. My recommendations are 5, 8, and 11 (Or the upcoming HD-2D remakes) for an introduction to the series. Each entry is standalone, and to be a little partial, Dragon Quest 8 is my personal favorite. Love your videos Connor
Dragon Quest 8 and 11 are the best modern ones to play by far and massive fun.
Say, didn't 11 kinda do a 180 on the characters' growth in Act 3?
@@Loner098 I believe 11 to be a good starting point to the series. Story-wise, however, I think 5 and 8 are superior imo. They also happen to be good starting points
This is good but dq is so cookie cutter and basic I don’t know if he would appreciate or just call it lame and old just based on how he sees media.
For me DQs were always very hit and miss. The best of them are great, but the others feel very dull by comparison. Part of that is that they are the lineage from which a lot of JRPGs come from so the things they did that were new and interesting are just old hat now and in all JRPGs. Still they do tend to come off as milquetoast.
as soon as that clock starts ticking, full on chills
Seriously.
Yesss! And when frog splits the mountain! That was epic man, good times...
Every. Single. Time.
The freaking Peter overlay when Chrono gets knocked down kills me 😂! Genius editing!
Connor: "I am becoming an JRPG GOD!"
Doesn't that mean you'll get absolutely decimated by some overpowered 5 foot guy?
with a comically oversized blade
@@sindhurtej9638or just a big gun
Your recent JRPG runs have been a blast!
Conner voice acting the characters adds so much to the experience frfr
Never seen a better made full play through of CT
Huge props to the editor!
Great small story recaps, it didn't feel like 100mins!
Stellar video in every aspect
"what kind of deus ex machina are you about to pull out"... lmao such a good moment to get to unspoiled
Frog is the GOAT for his theme alone. Might be the best track on an OST full of bangers
So proud of you playing this masterpiece XD
Connor has come a long way, from skipping text to finishing ChronoTrigger.
I think he is ready for the next step in narrative excellence: Planescape Torment.
I can't see him playing it, the jRPGs are pretty casual and relaxing, in Planescape you need to read walls upon walls of text to understand and appreciate the game.
Man, I always love how much, work are done in his videos, so thank you TinyTorgue for making such great edits and Connor for making great content, I hope to do something like that someday and hope to me you and say thank you, as well get my room reviewed as well hehehe, I hope that the charity livestream will go great again like last year, I wish I could partake in it but sadly can't, so best of luck and I hope and pray for the best at the charity livestream, so again thank you also great thumbnail ChikTheArtist. 😊
Forget best JRPG, this is the best game I've ever played. Not my favorite, but no one can deny how iconic Chrono Trigger is. Glad Connor enjoyed it!
I binge watched the F out of the VODs where this was streamed on but I love the condensed videos you manage to create for all of your JRPG playthroughs, especially with all the funny edits in between. Looking forward to seeing more of Connor's journey towards playing more JRPGs in the future.
My favorite JRPG gamer CDawgVA.
I actually stopped watching the livestreams that weekend and played Chrono Trigger myself to not get spoiled. I watched the vods a few days later.
I love that Connor picked every worst decision possible at the fair to be found guilty at the trial
Editor, this was incredible well paced and edited overall. Thank you for your work ❤
Fuck I just finished watching all the vods of this, now the supercut's here and I'm getting the feeling I'm gonna sit here and watch this again.
37:51 i love when editor-san use the chilean conchetumare meme x'D
Somos el mejor país de Chile.
amo lo lejos que a llegado ese meme
me sorprendió brigido jaja
The editing on this is so funny, legit laughed out loud so many times.
Chrono Trigger is beyond peak
600 AD queen Leene on the couch with 5 goblins is a wild edit
Thanks sm for the commentary added on these shorter edits to recap everything going on, makes everything more digestible and we don't get confused/lost.
Holy the thumbnail looks so GOOD :O
Replying Chono Trigger is like visiting and catching up with an old friend. Glad to see my favorite JRPG streamer get to this classic. ❤
A classic for what I heard, now to watch an youtuber to see if it is worth the fame. (Pouring one out for Toriyama.)
I watched all of the ChronoTrigger Vods and can't wait to rewatch the playthrough with this! :D
Love the thumbnail btw!
Finally... after waiting for a hundred years.. thank you TinyTorgue!
Awesome job done well by the editor. Love the edit of title screen and the memes.
Not something I ever expected, but CT is so good. I wish everyone has the opportunity to try it out. It doesn't require a guide or extreme amount of grinding to finish the game!
The difficult curve of Chrono Trigger is amazing. Boss fights slowly get longer and harder as you go but never so much that you get stuck. Unless you try to skip all fights, but even then the dungeon design forces you to hit some fights.
It's always baffling to see how great games from so long ago were.
Remember playing this as a teenage boy when it first came out with school friends. Dam good memories.
Played this game when it came out, every hero combo. Damn im old, but you reading the dialog is absolutely awesome. New sub.
I honestly kinda love Connor's voice for Frog. I'm glad he really loves the game. It's probably my favorite JRPG if not favorite game of all time.
The editing is so fun, loved watching this live too :D
Hell yeah for frog, Connor playing jrpgs, and the editor.
Beat in one sitting... "Okay chat I'm gonna call it here" at minute 37 of the video.. Lmfao
As someone else who just played this for the first time ever recently it’s funny how similar your thoughts were to mine. Meaning when the boss fights felt “OMG how much health does this thing have” to turn around and kill it within double digits of damage. Also I didn’t know you could crash into Lavos with the ship and ship the first stage. Pretty awesome all the different endings and how to reach them. Glad to see you enjoyed the game!
This has been one of the most entertaining playthroughs I've seen because of how Connor inadvertently proved how great the game is designed.
Right when you think: Man, this fight feels like it drags- you beat it. During the trial, you're reminded of all your misdeeds, and we see Connor squirming in the chair. We never see him grind for the ultimate McGuffin because there isn't one and there isn't a grind.
The only thing I would've loved is to see his reaction if you brought Magus to fight Queen Zeale
This game has aged like a fine wine, still as good as the day I first played it. Plus first game I can remember with so many endings to go after.
Now we wait for Connor to play Earthbound and the Shin Megami Tensei series, lol.
I think this was also the first game from a major studio with a "New Game Plus"
This influenced so many mechanics
I love Chrono Trigger, one of my favorite game of all time. Thanks for playing it Connor!
Hope he plays final fantasy tactics next 🫡
Another top tier classic!
As an old head and OG Chrono Trigger lifer, I deeply appreciate you enjoying this game. It’s gotten me through a lot of tough times in my life.
But I need to re-up my adderall scrip for this video. Holy shit. 😂
If you want more Toriyama's work, there is always Dragon Quest. DQ11 is probably a no brainer but DQV or VIII are also some of the best.
Now you can find the sparkle in town and beat the end with every combo of heros to get all the endings.
The editing for the mass that was the CT content is impressive as always, Mudan's team truly is unmatched
37:52 I died from laughing 😂😂 I didn't expect that specially coming from a English yt. Great job Mudan 👌
Oh ma gah!
Is it not TinyTorgue that did this edit?
It’s so crazy that a game made in like 1996 still holds up so much better today than even modern era games that are trying to evoke the same feelings nearly 30 years later.
I’m genuinely so happy I got to grow up during the peak of the evolution of video games.
I remember playing this game as a highschool kid a decade ago and the story with multiple endings and beautiful soundtracks brought tears to my teenage eyes. Now I feel very nostalgic watching this gameplay.
My favorite game of all time! I don't know if you know or have the time and stamina to play over and over again there's a feature called "New Game Plus". You restart the game all the characters keep their stats and level, and you keep your gear. So you can do the "Rainbow Gear" and eventually get everything. I skipped so many days in middle school replaying so I could max out everyone and get all the Rainbow gear for everyone. After that since you do that you can go straight to Lavos and crush em! I spent so much time, but worth it for the gameplay and the music!
49:39 me when I graduated university with top grades, multiple internships and organization experiences, along with recommendations from multiple lecturers
Props to the editor(s). This is like a 12 hour game edited into 1hr 40. Must've been a ton of work. Edit: Oh damn, his total playtime is over 24 hrs.
HELL YEAH 17 MINUTES!
Frog will forever be my favorite character in this game, and his theme is one of my favorite soundtracks in any video game
Honestly Chrono trigger is my favorite game ever, and I've played other great games like RDR2, god of war, Sekiro, Persona 3-5, Final Fantasy 6, but none ever gave me the same special feeling as this masterpiece
CDawg 1 minute and 7 seconds in: I like the Frog guy already, he seems cool.
And everyone liked that.
Awesome now we just need a Golden Sun playthrough
Golden Sun is so good
Didn't really hit me until watching this that Lavos is an eldritch horror: ancient compared to everything else, comes from outside of our world, probably isn't the only one, isn't technically evil just a natural thing that works on insticks.
Also love that you don't technically resurrect Chrono, you just replace the one who died before you with an exact copy.
*instinct(s)
Can't wait for when British Ludwig plays Chrono cross
The best thing, is the DECADES of Chrono Trigger music remixes. My favorite ones are all that remix "Undersea Palace".
And thus, Doctor Ligma succeeded in fixing the dark timeline.
I played Chrono Trigger for the first time after seeing Connor was playing it, carefully watching the VODs to avoid spoilers, and I agree it's really rare for a game to be hyped up so much and truly deliver. Even a 30 year old game.
Yooo Cannur is playing the best JRPG of all time.
All of that and he didn't get the true ending that leads to Chrono cross
16:46
As someone who has played Chrono Trigger and (accidentally) been to Gary, Indiana: Yes.
The 2 things I remember from CT were having played it ~15 years ago on SENS and the fking inability of me to ressurect Chrono while getting utterly stuck around Death Peak
I didn't even know you could try to sell the pendant to Melchior
Man, thank you for making me relive all those fantastic memories i had from this game.
Having anime cutscenes like that and back in the 90's is amazing. I've never played Chrono Trigger, so I'm happy you did so I could live it through you, lol.
Weeeeell, honestly the anime scenes were added in the PS1 port later, it wasn't in the original Snes version. In general, you couldn't store a lot of video (or any video) in cartridges, so we had to wait the next gen of consoles (playstation 1 and Saturn) in which the games were on CDs (not cartridges) to have enough space to put videos. FF7 in particular (1997), will have LOTS of them and open the gates. CT (1995) was a bit before that.
That being said, I never really found those cutscenes in Chrono Trigger added anything. For me the normal scenes were good enough and the problem with the cutscenes is that you see the same action twice (cutscene + normal scene) which kinda kills the tension sometimes.
@@xenotypos Ah, that explains why the animation looked so good, it was added later. Makes sense.
What a phenomenal journey. Chrono Trigger deserves all the praise it gets.
0:57 Eh, it really just depends on which ending you go for.🤔
38:31 CONNOR LIED TO US
This game here is my favourite game of all time and what I think is the best JRPG of all time
Chrono Trigger is fantastic I’m glad you have played this legendary JRPG
Ive Always wanted to play this game and I even did in my childhood a little but never got around to finishing it, Thanks for playing this Connor and allowing me to experience it with you!
RIP to the Goat, Akira Toriyama sensei.
Welcome to 1995 and discovering what games are capable of. This was the Dream Project.
RIP - Akira Toriyama
I just did a similar journey last year going through all the classic best games that I missed when they came out. Less old, but I moved onto some Dragon Quest games right after. Dragon Quest 11 and Ocotpath Traveler 1 and 2 were what I played right after. It was some of the greatest months for video games that I've ever had in my life
I swear if I catch this man playing the Mana series I might cry a bit.
We love Frog. We bring Frog everywhere.
Dang it Connor! You had one job and it was to free Glen from his curse.
Do you see now? It truly is a monumental game. a world's heritage game, worth remembering for an eternity.
After Akira Toriyama's passing I finally decided to play this game that I've had on my phone for a few years now. And after finishing it I can safely say, this is one of the best JRPG games ever made! Bravo!
I remember my mother giving this game to me when i was around 10. I had never played or watched any anime/JRPG before. I kind of dismissed the game thinking it wouldn't be for me. Until one day when i picked it up thinking i'll give it a shot. I then proceded to sink dozens of hours in this game. Absolutely one of the best games out there.
it's cool to see new generation of people embracing Chrono Trigger. Glad Connor liked it so much!
I love how Connor dug his own grave 5 min in
Loved this game so much as a kid and played through many a times to get the multiple different endings.
I would love to see you play Final Fantasy Tactics and maybe Chrono Cross out of sheer curiosity.
I love these long form videos going through these games. Please keep them up.
26:52 gee if only he did this more often
Fun little thing I noticed... MFker Cell Reference is also a Guyver Reference (For those who do not know when he opens his pecs for the laser attack its the same attack many Guyver units use as a sorta Final Kamehameha fuck you)
I love this game, watching other people play it for the first time reminds me of how cinematic and exciting it was the first time i played it.
You know… the kiseki series is beautiful… only almost a dozen games with 100+ hours of content each! It’s the Game of Thrones of jrpgs
The devs doing so much for elden ring has been done by literally the coolest company ever, name of From Software.
1:21:42 IS THAT A BERSERK REFERENCE???
The guy who beat Cruelty Squad really fast did it again with the greatest JRPG.
