  • I purchased a metal detector about a month ago and have really enjoyed using it. I've dug up quite a bit of coins and want to get them back into circulation but they're just so dirty. I think I've found the perfect solution for cleaning them. The process is fairly simple, here's how.

Thanks for the instructional video! I have the same exact tumbler and have run thousands through it over the past 5-6 years. I only wish I had seen a video like this first!

Hey just an fyi. I do the same treatment for dug coins. To dry them. Go to a thrift store and buy a small cheap pan and put the rocks and coins on simmer or low on the stove to dry them. It works fantastic.

I clean my coins the same way. The soil around my area turns coins red so it takes at least 24 hours for good results for me.

    • @davesnothere5438

Wow! 24 hrs. I typically let them go for a couple hrs and that seems to be good enough. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍

Pennies clean up quick the clad is much harder to clean I even run cleaning vinegar instead of water speeds up the process.

That tumbler doesn't do a bad job but, I just have to wonder how a ultrasonic cleaner would do.

Dude, have you ever tried using vinegar, it works just as well. You just need to soak them in it, don’t need to use any electric and you can reuse the same batch more than once. Give it a try.

If you don't separate the copper from the silver the silver coins will all come out copper plated from the pennies

Looks like you are using the kitchen sink? Be carful of your fish tank rocks don’t go down into the disposal! It could cause it to jam. I use a spare sink I have in the basement with no disposal.
