Great job! What a joy listening to Psalms 118 being sung in such a way. Love it! There's a short poem of Psalms 118 by George Haveman. It's not nearly as elaborate as Teshuva's amazing song but it's cute: His kindness is forever, so how can I be afraid? He answered and rescued me, when in distress I prayed. Beneath His royal banner I'll battle for my friend. It's better to trust God, than put confidence in men. A stone refused by builders is the basis for His church. He'll be with us always, never leave us in the lurch. The Lord has made this day; let us rejoice therein. For with Jehovah on our side, we know we'll surely win.
Lovely. I so enjoyed the scenery as well. I was just reading/studying/listening to a teaching on Psalm 118 and I love to look up actual songs of the Psalms for worship. Not the style I expected (which is 100% fine). You captured JOY in the Messiah. God bless you all! -- Angela
I always thought "this day" is referring to today. But if you read Ps 118:24 the context is actually the day Jesus paid for our sins. The verse before it is "the stone the builders rejected has been made the chief cornerstone". iow Jesus was made the chief cornerstone ... this is the day the Lord has made. After Jesus had communion with his disciples, they sang psalms. We have a good idea of which psalms they sung as those psalms became a little tradition in the early church. It was Ps 115-118. So Jesus was singing this very line "this is the day", knowing full well it speaks of Him dying the following day, all the while His disciples has no idea what they are singing about. We sing a very happy song, but its actually heart breaking.
