    I understand DVDs and the separate video and audio files.
    I use Vegas Pro and make DVDs from the projects with DVD Architect too and I've never rendered the video and audio tracks separately.
    In DVD Architect, I just double-click on the file in the Explorer area or drag the file to the work space area and hit Burn DVD and the DVD creates fine.
    I've never rendered the tracks separately in Vegas, and my DVDs work perfectly ?
    That's what I was getting at, sir Zenolla!

    A further note on my previous response about your separate audio & video renders: you selected a separate video render format & rendered the video and then you selected a separate audio render format and then rendered it.
    I always just select the output format, such as DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen, etc., & then "tick" the "include" audio on the audio tab ... and then render ... just one render process.
    The DVDs, AVCHD & BluRays always have burned & played fine.
    That's what I was getting at.

      It sounds like you want to add a Scene Selection Menu.
      Right-click the video in "disc tree" (left side) and select Insert Scene Selection Menu.
      Follow screens that pop up.
      Then drag new Scene Selection menu onto Menu 1.

      @@MovieStudioZen Indeed THAT was the bit I was after as well. Figuring out how to place the markers was discoverable (as they exist in the toolbar above the Architect timeline )... but how to not have to manually build the scene selection menus by hand was not.

    Well I am an Edius editor and have just started using Architect. It sure is powerful and I only wished Edius had an intergrated Authoring software package like the Vegas>Architect marriage.
    I do a lot of two camera dance filming/editing and if someone can tell me how Vegas goes at mulitcamera editing then I just may be tempted to give it a go. I guess I could download the trial and test.

    I realize this is an old tutorial, however, things haven’t changed that much in a dozen years. I recently used one of your links to update my very old Vegas 14. I also have an equally old Sony DVD Architect Pro v.5. I followed your instructions here to the T but chapter breaks don’t transfer even though selecting all the right check boxes in the drop down (which is where those options are found in that Sony version). Even after setting chapters in Architect VOB’s are all empty except the 4th which contains 15 minutes of the 1 hr. 23 minute video? Any suggestions?

    I'm new to Vegas Pro. To clarify since some time has passed since this was published...
    1. Can I render just one of many chapters within a project?
    2. If you have Chapters, will it automatically have them when you render as CZcams 1080p, then later burn the file to a DVD?
    3. On a DVD that is Rendered as mentioned above, can you take a remote and advance between chapters?
    4. Lastly, will the chapters show up in the Menu like a movie and or have the name of each chapter I assigned.
    Some of this is different but still trying to follow along to apply your tutorial to my VP 17 and situation,
    Thanks!

    • @MovieStudioZen
      @MovieStudioZen  Před 8 měsíci

      To clarify, DVD Architect is a retired product now and can no longer be purchased. However, you can still render video for making DVDs/Blu-rays, with latest versions of VEGAS Pro.
      1. Yes you can render any section of a project in VEGAS Pro, by creating what is called a "Loop Region".
      2. Chapters will only work in DVD Architect - they will not be recognised on CZcams. You must create Chapters on CZcams manually.
      3. Yes, your DVD player remote can advance through Chapters created on a DVD, using DVD Architect (and VEGAS Pro or VEGAS Movie Studio).
      4. Yes you can easily create a Chapter Menu page in any DVD Architect project, that uses the Chapters you created in VEGAS. There is a dedicated function to do this.
      5. If you have any further questions about this topic in the future, I recommend you join my forum and post message there.

      Ya I'm too new to this. I don't get it. Vegas seems fancy enough. Youde think you could put chapters in. When I created DVDs on an old DVD Recorder by Toshiba (think vcr rca cables to DVD recorder) it would auto insert chapters every5 minutes. Ive never burned a physical DVD/BD from a Vergas Render, but I assume it does not auto chapter every 5 minutes. I don't know what Architect is, why youde want to use it other than Chapter things, how you would, where youde get it to do it or why Vegas doesn't. Seems like the most basic of desires for a Rendering to DVD to have at least Chapters without titles even would be better. But thanks. I think I'm not anything on par with any of your other pro subscribers. I had 2 strokes so cant work just trying something new

    • @MovieStudioZen
      @MovieStudioZen  Před 8 měsíci

      You don't seem to understand what I am saying, so I'll say it a different way.
      1. Virtually no one is making DVDs anymore.
      2. Back when people were making DVDs, the program you used to make a DVD was DVD Architect (a VEGAS product).
      3. No program on Earth lets you create Chapters for CZcams.
      4. You can burn a basic DVD with the current version of VEGAS Pro, but not like using DVD Architect. Making discs is basically dead now.

    • @GoingNowhereFastBFL
      @GoingNowhereFastBFL Před 8 měsíci

      I understand. I just render it CZcams seems like the easiest less problem rendering. But I don't actually want to what chapter forward in CZcams. But I'm old-fashioned I want to make DVDs sometimes. Like family movies in DVDs with chapters. I mean it's great to have everything online and digital but when the but when the internet goes to crap or some terrorist attack then nobody can watch TV or anything. And I'll be sitting there with the old fashioned DVD player and DVDs and everybody will be over at my place. I'm going to charge admission at that point. Or depending on how bad the planet gets food and provisions to watch movies. 😁
      I wonder if there's any software you can use to burn DVDs with chapters? The question might annoy you since there's no DVD architect but I appreciate it.

    Great tutorial! :D I need a bit of further advice on this :)
    I have a playlist of several separate clips on my DVD (a 'play all' button) but when I go into the preview I cannot navigate through them using the 'next button', but I have to fast forward. When I try to click next in the preview, it doesn't jump to the next clip and when I select the playlist outside of the preview, it has them all marked as "chapter 1". Is there a way of marking each clip in a playlist as a separate chapter so I can skip through them with the 'next' button? :)

    • @AskMusicPlus
      @AskMusicPlus Před 10 lety

      Okay, I started to think that might be the case... I guess the alternative is to edit them all into one large video, add chapter points to that file and include a scene selection menu to start from different points? Thanks very much for your reply, I really appreciate it :)

DVDA 5.0 tells me to add a point between 2 time stamps.(there is not a list of options to select from) I have been adding a scene/chapter point and then the disc menu actually uses that point instead of using it only for the disc layer break. This messes with then menu options. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help you can provide!

      Are you using Dual Layer 8.5GB discs?
      If your project is large and you're using dual layer discs, DVD Architect needs to have a "break point" inserted, for when the data jumps from the First Layer of disc to the Second Layer.

    • @MovieStudioZen

      No, they can't be copied.
      However, if you created the original project in Movie Studio Platinum or Vegas Pro, you can use the ONE project and render it to DVD and Blu-ray formats. If you add the Chapter Points to the original project file, they will be saved with the DVD version and Blu-ray version.
      If you want to output to both DVD & Blu-ray, set the Project to Blu-ray settings and render to DVD and Blu-ray.

      Which exact program versions are you using?
      Meaning, which version of Movie Studio are you using?
      Which version of DVD Architect are you using?
      There are two methods for creating Chapter Points/Markers.
      1. Create them inside of your Vegas project and render them into the file - when this is imported into DVDA, the chapter points will appear.
      2. You should be able to import ANY video into DVDA and add Chapter Points here. You MUST double click the video file inside of "Tree" for DVD in Left column. This will import video into timeline. Only here can you add Chapter Points. Press M for marker.

      In the tutorial I linked for you, I DID NOT say anything about importing BOTH Video and Audio.
      Obviously you need to render a VIDEO and AUDIO file with Movie Studio.
      There are TWO ways to make a DVD.
      One method is when you render everything yourself MANUALLY - that is an advanced method, so I am not talking about that now. So I sent you the EASY method.
      If you follow the instructions in the tutorial for version 13, Movie Studio will import any needed files for you.
      Please start a new test project and follow the instructions in the linked tutorial, before asking any more questions. The tutorial I sent you, will fix your problem.
      If you want to learn the advanced method for preparing video for DVD, read this in-depth FAQ. It will explain everything for you.
