    It doesn't matter how often I've seen Jurassic Park, that scene in the maintenance bunker when the Raptor shows up behind Ellie will always get me with the jumpscare.
    Side notes:
    The dinosaur sounds in this movie were made by combining sounds made by living animals and everyday objects.
    The Tyrannosaurus rex, affectionately known as Rexy, was a mix of elephant calf, koala, lion, tiger, and alligator vocalizations (roar, snarls and growls), and a dog playing with a rope toy (shaking the Gallimimus to death).
    The Dilophosaurus was a mix of hawk, swan, howler monkey and rattlesnake sounds.
    The adult Raptors were a mix of a walrus chest roar and dolphin mating scream, while the hatchling was a mix of owlet and fox kit sounds.
    The Brachiosaurus vocalizations were slowed down donkey brays, while the sneeze was a mix of an active fire hydrant and a whale breathing through its blowhole(s).
    The Gallimimus's chief sound effect was made using the recorded calls of a female horse in heat.
    A good portion of this movie was shot on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
    Whenever I hear Hammond ask "Who's hungry?", my first reaction every time is "Not after hearing the Raptors rip the cow apart."
    Lego released 30th anniversary sets in honor of Jurassic Park and the one I have is based on Dennis Nedry's encounter with the Dilophosaurus.

    @brogan1177 Před 4 měsíci +4

    it's unfortunate that the movie had to leave out so much from the books to make it any kind of movie material, but the original author worked closely with them to make it possible, so its still kind of michael crichtons vision.
    some points that are nice to know though:
    while hammond in the movie is kind of a naive walt disney-esque idealist, he's a cunning, egomaniacal businessman in the books who only invited the kids to have more leverage over the lawyer.
    the sick dinosaur didnt eat the lilac berries per se. Its explained with the dinosaurs eating stones to help with their digestion, gizzard stones. They'd regurgitate them every six weeks, when they were too smooth to help digesting to ingest new stones. Those had the berries lying in between them and thats the reason for the cycle of sickness every six weeks.ellie figured that out in minutes, which again underlined the naive approach to an unknown ecosystem. that's the one thing that I really think should have been in the movie, especially because it would have taken not much more than two or three lines of dialogue.
    The failure of the park was way more drastic in the book than it was in the movie. It failed every form of containing the dinosaurs even before nedry turned off the fences. There were dozens of wild hatched velociraptors before they even noticed itbecause their counting system with motion sensor was so damn flawed. It only counted to their expected number of 8 raptors for example and gave the notice that there are, as expected, 8 raptors. Which technically was true for a computer. It didnt mention that there were more since the query was just to count if there were 8.
    The whole park was an absolute clusterfuck. The movie version might even have worked if it hadnt been for the sabotage.
    I'd really recommend anyone who hasnt yet to read the book since it tells a similar but way more elaborate story. I love them both and would have loved to see a more book-accurate movie, but that was just not possible to make with the technology at the time.

    • @rebeccaclementz3756
      @rebeccaclementz3756 Před 2 měsíci

      Also, in the novel, it talks about Nedry being overworked and under payed. Some of the computer errors might have been caught if Nedry had been given a whole team like he needed.

    I'll admit, I know the storm came in and a lot of people were told to leave the island. But Hammon and Samel Jackson's character stayed behind until everyone was back. But I have to admit, He should have made sure no matter what, that there was guards standing outside that door, so Nerdery could never have gotten away with stealing the Dino's Embryos, He talks about we spare no expense, but he missed a lot of red flags and that was a major one right there.

      @@Reactsandgames I'm glad you like JP :) It's my favorite movie! If you haven't already watched it, I recommend JW's Camp Cretaceous series (which, despite being more for kids, feels much more like a proper continuation of JP than the JW movies). Also, if you wanna learn about real dinos, I highly recommend Darren Naish's "Dinosaurs: How They Lived and Evolved" (the best adult intro to the whole story of dinos) & "Dinopedia: A Brief Compendium of Dinosaur Lore" (the best adult guide to dinos & their cultural impact since the 1970s). P.S. Just to clarify 3:35 & 9:40, Grant & Sattler are paleontologists (as opposed to archaeologists: czcams.com/video/q6OjU8UvY54/video.html ). Also, to answer your 32:45 question, he was trying to keep the raptors busy (& hopefully take them out) so they wouldn't go after Ellie.

    Muldoon was a game warden and game wardens have to deal with animals that have proven they are deadly to humans example being the man they killed at the begining and they have shown aggressive behavior to the feeders showing they will kill when they can so he needed to deal with them before they were a threat to everyone problem is he wasnt used to them outside of the containment area and they never displayed that tactic before till then. As for Nedry he was the reason the cage at the opening was able to disconect from the raptor padock so Hammond made him pay for the death of the worker he became very angery over that issue.

    We have all become so use to CGI for special effects and dinos and other monsters so realistically portrayed in movies. Up until this movie, they used to use stop-action claymation like in the original (1933) King Kong, or film of an actual Gila monster projected behind the actors. Dinos were also portrayed (and thought to be) such sluggish creatures, although this movie went a bit too far in the opposite direction as to how fast and smart they were. (That is, the non-avian dinos. Avian dinos - birds - can be super-fast and some like gray parrots and ravens, are among the geniuses in the animal kingdom.)

After that I read 'the making of Jurassic Park' a lot, and read the book. The book was very different in comparison, but had a lot more nightmare fuel to really terrify.
    Growing up with practical effects, it was par for the course. Exceptional use of models and the like, but there wasn't much exposure to CG to think about the difference between the two (though I was surprised by it when reading about the parts they used it in). I'm glad you enjoyed the movie.

    I'm glad you like JP :) It's my favorite movie!

    Why do you keep telling her all the story when she asks? You're pretty much taking the 'first' out of First Time Reaction. The mosquito "it'll have the blood in it", the Park itself, what Dennis was doing after the meeting with Dodson "He's going to sabotage the Park" - suspense killer much? Let her find out! Try replying "Just watch" to her? May as well just call the vid - Jurassic Park Where I Explain It All And There's No First Reaction Because I Told Her About It Before The Movie Shows It To Her. People want to watch *reactions* , not two people sitting on a couch and one spills the whole synopsis out as giveaways. Sorry dude, but I bowed out and downvoted at the 8th minute, and this does not inspire me to become a paying member just to watch a full-length of you giving the story away to her. I am a new viewer to your channel and I gotta say, not really inspired to check out your other stuff in case you do this as a thing in all your videos
