Reading so many people talking about amonkhet turbofog rather than the original makes me realize I have been playing magic for a whole generation at this point.

he commandeered tomers mana crypt then strip mined tomers land on his turn 1 lol
Crim is mostly cringe, Seth has more of the "old man yells at cloud" vibe, which is awesome.

Gotta say, I love the hollow, incredibly unthreatening "thunk" sound things make on Arena when they hit you and you prevent their damage. That alone is enough of a reason to make me play turbo fog. xp
51:35 a lot of people forget that Creeping Chill reads damage, not simply loss of life
At least it actually mills relatively quickly, opposed to the Nexus of Fate/Teferi turbo fog decks from the earlier arena days. God that was brutal.
Yeah, we are nice enough for having a plan for closing out the game quickly at least.

Teferi is straight up the most evil card in the whole game, and the lore pretends he's the good guy.
Those decks aren't meant to be brutal, they're built assuming players have the basic game knowledge required to know when to concede.
That game 1 against elves they had 169 hasty trampling power and toughness. Amazing.

I never get that start when I play elves. But every time I play against it the opponent gets the god start.

would love to see a part 2 where it is upgraded. This episode was absolutely hilarious how nobody(except for sheoldred) could do absolutely nothing
It is definitely a fun deck to play and you can easily upgrade to bant colours but you will have bad matchups like control, discard/graveyard decks.
Ulamog squashed it too
I tried it in Bo3. Having a deck full of fogs means you just scoop to every deck with a planeswalker. Which so far has been every match. Except for the ones that ramp into eldrazi titans which also don't care how many fogs we have.
47:30 you can activate the one ring on their upkeep and because of APNAP get to mill them before Sheoldred kills you, but they'd still have to draw a card somehow 🤷♂️
That 32:51 felt like the classic story of "Loot. Discard Force of Will" to prove just how much the game was over. And following that classic story, if that had been your only remaining fog, they would have scooped too easily
That fog on crater hoof was so satisfying. I had the same reaction he did when they played it 😂
Was taking a hiatus from Arena until now because after watching how fun this deck is I also wanna go and teach some lessons. Let's hope I have enough wild cards left.

Turbofog was my first deck around Amonketh standard, seeing the thumbnail brought back so many memories. I think that you might've convinced me to reinstall Arena.
These new intro styles (at least new from what Im used to) are the perfect combo of explaining the deck + gameplay. I love it and feel no need to skip anymore
This was awesome. Reminds me of a turbofog mill deck that I believe is decent in pauper that I always wanted to build!

I used to have a 5 color EDH deck that featured all of the prisons, most of the fogs, a cascade subtheme, and a ton of card draw.
I loved playing that deck!

I think the funniest thing about turbofog isn’t the frustration of playing against it, it’s that so often the win condition is mill, in an archetype that really wants consistent card draw. It really says “I need to draw three cards a turn, but also opponent will lose MORE”
if you think frustrating your opponent is a funny thing to do, you need to uninstall.

@@anannoyedpanda You can be frustrated that you can’t figure a way out of a loss, but you shouldn’t be frustrated at the player for building a deck that beat another deck in a way you don’t agree with. That’s not fair to the game, and more importantly the community itself. When I find myself frustrated at MtG, I take a step back and remind myself that I enjoy the challenge of Magic. If you’re not having fun with the game, then take a break from it. Come back in a couple months when the meta has changed!
I ran a Turbofog whose wincon was Teferi Hero of Dominaria ult, with some manlands to actually seal it. Never actually killed someone with a manland, though.

Horizon Chimera from Theros gives life per card draw so youd be offsetting the damage from the ring, it also has flash as well so you could side board it if you want.
That card isn’t on arena yet and so isn’t historic legal.
Personally would rather splash sheoldred or Crypt incursion.
Now that you mention Crypt Incursion, Profane Memento will gain him life since hes milling, its also colorless so no splash needed.

@Aphidae How? its a 1 drop, gains him life for milling that offsets the Ring and makes him more survivable vs the opponent. Especially in creature heavy decks he might gain 20 plus life over all the milling. How is that bad in this scenario? and thats with only 1 out.

I had a quasi turbo fog tatyova deck in standard that I ranked mythic with. I Tried it in historic after Rotation and was crushed by questing beasts and stomps :)
Fogs are my guilty pleasure in MTG, it is so fun watching people attempt to attack me and then you never die
I remember playing against a Turbo Fog deck in a standard tournament at my LGS....I was playing W/U exalted, as soon as I saw what was going on, I just kept swinging until he ran out of answers. one of the longest and most annoying games I had to suffer through.
This was actually amazing. I remember playing G/W TurboFog during the Time Spiral Standard. My finisher was either Sacred Mesa or Akroma, Angel of Wrath. The funnest ever tho was Jorael, Empress of Beasts to animate their lands and then Wrath of God'ding their whole field, lol. It was a lot of fun.
47:00 - I'm sorry, maybe I'm missing something but, in that match, couldn't you activate the One Ring in their upkeep to mill them out and have the Sheoldred trigger resolve after your Tutelages’?

An empty library is not enough to lose the game, you need to try to draw from it. So the mill resolves first, but before the opponent goes to their draw step, the Sheoldred triggers would resolve and kill Seth.
Drawing a card is a turn-based action that does not use the stack. You can only activate the one ring during the upkeep phase (i think), which puts the mill & the sheoldred damage on the stack... these resolve, you're still in the upkeep phase, the opponent never gets to draw, and you have 0 hp at that point, so you lose.
Even if it did use the stack, though, you still couldn't manage to make the sheoldred triggers go below the draw on the stack -- they're always gonna be between your own draw and the opponent's draw (which is needed to win the game), so no way at all even if the rules were different.
@@kirillm2517 I see, that makes sense! I was so focused on the Active player side of things that I forgot the opponent actually had to draw from an empty library XD

50:21 you could have kept the old One Ring since it had 2 counters on it already and you still get the protection from everything from the one that goes to the graveyard and the oppenent was dead on your next turn to Teferi's Tutelage + One Ring (3 counters) activation + Growth Spiral.

First time I ever got to mythic was a turbo mill grixis control deck, looping your hand with Valakut Awakening and Channeled Force. Cool to see the tutelage make it back to decent relevancy~!

That final self-mill deck was absolutely nutty, was genuinely amazed at how good it was. Opponent would have won if it weren't exactly The One Ring protecting you too. A great deck and pilot, was a fun game to watch. Really could have gone either way.

Love fogs so much. I played a deck of yours, some years ago with Bounty of the Luxa (Standard). It was miserable to play against. But i loved every minute playing against some salty opponents

I gave this deck a try, i hadn't made a new deck in many sets. Its pretty fun. a small changed i made was i changed some of the spell ratios as well and ignoring teferi for 2 folio of fancies. its both a mill engine on its own as well as a way to force the opponent to draw. as well as a way to have no max hand size. its pretty good in the deck
I also built a Standard Teferi's Tutelage deck with Song of Creation when Kaldheim came out and offered the Foretell spells. (So you could foretell a spell before you discard your hand, and continue the chaos on the next turn.)
This reminds me of when I was a teen, and one of my friends let me borrow their turbo fog + Approach of the Second Sun deck. So much fun.
Reading the combination of "when I was a teen" and "Approach of the Second Sun" makes me really sad. To me that feels just like yesterday 😅

I built turbo fog back when we still had search for azcanta, and omniscience in standard. God that was fun! Win con was War for the Spark Jayce.

actual Fog in Arena from Jumpstart: Historic Horizons
You need to brew up a mono-white approach of the second sun deck with the ring... mono white gives you fog effects, and now Reprieve (counter) plus throw in some white leylines for early protection... (modern)

my turbofog version is GW and uses Druid Class for the boost/lifegain, lots of white removal and mutual card draw and Smothering Tithe, and the winning "combo" is Secret Rendezvous and Turn the Earth. (I'm a huge fan of playing a spell 6-10 times a game.)

I ran into a handful of mill decks, so I added two copies of Gaea's Blessing into my green deck, and it's been an amazing experience.

I tried this deck splashing white for union of the third path: it's almost a fog and it lets you keep a ring around thank to gaining a ton of life!
So loving turbo fog first match I went against was against a bant version of the deck I think you created a monster and I love it lol
Against the sheoldred, if you activated the one ring on their turn, they have priority for triggers, which means tutlage resolves before their sheoldred trigger. The problem is you'd need to respond to something on their upkeep and do it before their draw step.
Would love to see this deck updated in best of 3.
I built original Innistrad Turbo Fog. It had Invisible Stalker and Delver of Secrets, equipped with Bladed Bracers and Silver-Inlaid Dagger, also a single copy of Jace, Memory Adept (because I got him from a pack and had to use).
I managed to get 5th at FNM, which is the highest I have ever come.
So I actually spent my Wildcards on this deck... brings back fond memories, wow is it fun!
Making some changes, namely putting Psychic Corrosion in, speeding up the mill
As someone that used the play Jacetator in Extended and then evolved that deck into a custom UW mill deck I still play in Modern? Thank you for helping teach other people how "fun" the archetype is

One Teferi Tutelage is fine. When you have multiple of it, then trouble starts (and The One Ring is pretty strong)
