@thokwong did the Black Gold Musang King u had taste a lot better than normal one? i saw it at another stall in SS2 too but felt hesitant to buy as I wasn't sure if it worth the RM53 per 1kg price

Smart branding or marketing can always attract customers and in this case, trick or fool them into paying a lot more for what's basically the same variety of durian 🙄
Once arrived at the shops, some sellers would even regrade durians differently from the collection centre.. A is graded as AA or AAA, B is graded as A or AB and so on, hence they can sell at much higher prices 😏
For example, D24 has also been rebranded to different names: Margarine, Butter King, XO, Chilli and Black Gold King and Sultan King. Different name, different price 😌😏
Black Gold means the Musang King tree must more than 25-30 years, it's not just a gimmick tbh

Hello 播主，不管什么名种的榴莲，如果它被标志为黑金，意思是说这棵榴莲果的树龄，严格来说都已经超过了四、五十年之久，所以有资格称为黑金。因为榴莲树越老，它的果肉味道就越浓郁，果肉自然会越多皱纹，懂了吗 ? 所以摊主介绍这棵榴莲是黑金的，那么其价钱就会比一般来得贵。不过劝榴莲新手的妳千万不要随便就挑什么黑金的，因为如果都不会看情况，给别人骗了都不知道。这一点一定要注意，要不然闹出笑话来，不诚实的榴莲摊主在想 : 机会来了 .. 。所以不要再问卖榴莲的，黑金榴莲是那里的品种 ... 。
最后提醒，黑金是代表老树榴莲 !

When we were young we lived in a town surrounded by many durian plantations and my mum and her family own lots of plantation but all of them refused to plant durian due to risk and threat from the gangsters, illegal migrants of Indonesia....and durian and coconut drink , guava, langsat, Longmont, Jambu, mangosteen,...etc..were very cheap and many of us not a fan of them and we preferred to eat western fruits.....strange villagers we were.....haha now when I recalled those memory found we villagers were silly people....long time in western country missing tropical fruits again..
